Hi. I would like to suggest removing the limit on the number of gem pits a person can get. It seems to have been established that people have not stopped buying gems from the shop, so removing the limit on gem pits should not be a problem. Also, make them buffable; say, create a buff that a person could purchase from the gem shop and apply perhaps once per week that would last maybe 12 hours or so.

Well I disagree with you on that, I spent a total of 200 on gems and havent bought more, the limit at 5 was pretty good but after so many years old players probably wanted more and they bumped it to 10.
my guess is they will increase the limit by 5 one year after they last increased it. Im expecting it to be 15 in september, we shall see. i think that having them unlimited is too much... too many "free" gems for the devs to be making money.
Increase sounds good, but unlimited gem pits just means unlimited gems at no additional cost. Though there are people who would still use up more gems than they are making, I can't imagine it not causing a drop in sales.
Five a year works for me. Limiting it is particularly important if BB is still questing for the mythical PvP unicorn.
I always saw a gem pit as being a way for BB to sell gems on spec.
It is essentially you paying now and getting the bonus down the line.
That being said, it is probably mostly gem buyers with money to spend who get gem pits.
IMO, gem buyers are the backbone of the game and should be rewarded with access to gem pit buffs and unlimited purchases.
or put a limit on how many you can have at once be it on island or star. not just the 5 or 10 its now but only X at one time
well i have 2 or 3 left with about 2k in each, and no more available to buy. so unless i can buy more, bb wont be getting one more dime from me. its a lose-lose sitch for them...

yes but the problem is players like me, who invested in gem pits with gems i purchases with pixels from "gems for friends"( when you could gift a friend 200 gems at the cost of 220 gems). i bought 6 gem pits with gems i purchased with pixels, so those 6 gem pits costed 22,000x6 - 132,000 gems that someone had originally purchased with real money. ok- so after my 6gem pits depleted (which they did) i ended with 240,000 gems, a total profit of 108,000 gems that i earned without spending a penny. if they raise the limit i will be able to almost double that (if they raise it by another 5). that would give me a total of 440,000 gems in which only BB made money off of 132,000 gems of it. Im definitely one of many FEW that took advantage of gems for friends when they came out, over all BB would make quite a bit of money raising the limit but i think that there would be too many "free" gems floating around for them to make a significant amount of money of them.Quote:

I am at the limit for gem pits as well and as a long term player I find this bothersome especially since they have increased items we can now buy with gems. Please consider increasing the number of total gem pits we can purchase.
I think from a financial point of view BB made a mistake with the way they implemented gem pits. A wise player saves up his gems from the weekly give away, gems accumulated and gems from star points to buy their first gem pit. From this first gem pit he then saves the gems to buy more gem pits. There is no financial gain for BB.
What BB need to do is sell gem pits like they sell gems.... you buy gem pits for real $$$. For example a gem pit would cost the same in $$$ as 20k gems, the extra 20k gems you get from the gem pits over time being a loyalty bonus. This is the only way BB could make gem pits limitless.
I know this idea would not be popular with the players but it is better monetisation for BB and would probably be acceptable if the cost was less than it is now.

On the topic, keeping a limit is pretty much necessary to keep from run-away situations with those players with lots of cash reserves. However, looking at grafxfx's post (#19 in this thread), that may be a successful blend that works to cover both issues (revenue for BB and unlimited Gem Pits for players). Instead of increasing the limit of gem pits, it might prove to be more prudent that the gem pit limit prob be lowered from 10 down to 5. BUT, once a year, push the reset button on the amount people have purchased. So if you buy 5, you have to wait a year to buy more.
This would be better for BB in the long run, other then always increasing the limit by 5. (I think the limit was originally 3, increased to 10). If they increased the limit to 15, and 1-2 years later, increased it to 20, etc etc. Say when the limit is 15, a newer player buys some gems pits, stockpiles the gems, gets more gem pits, etc etc..
Lets break it down. Spend $100 to get 24,000 (normal price, not a happy hour special). Spend 20k gems for 1 gem pit. Gem Pit gives you 40k gems over 1 year (plus walking time to/from storehouse/mayor house). So you get 20k gems every 6 months. 6 months go by, the person buys another gem pit, etc..
40,000 gems divided by 365 days = 109.589 gems a day (not factoring in walking time). If someone waiting for a x3 happy hour special, and spend $100 to get 72k gems. That could get 3 gem pits with 12k gems left over. That would be 328.767 gems a day. 24.3 days until they got 8k more gems, to go with the 12k gems left over, to get the 20k gems to buy a 4th gem pit. 438.356 gems a day with 4 pits. 3,068.493 gems a week. 6.517 weeks until they could buy a 5th gem pit. 547.945 gems a day with 5 pits = 36.5 days to get a 6th gem pit .. Total time elapsed to get 6 gem pits 106.3 days (little more then 3 months). So in 3 months, you have 6 gem pits, and can get more and more really fast, and the first 3 purchased still have about 30k gems left in the pit.
So you can see how not having a limit at all can get out of hand really quickly, for someone who waiting for the right time, and only spend $100. The person, if they were careful, wouldn't have to spend another cent on the game and could pretty much buy anything from the shop.
But, if you limited it to 5 gem pits a year, having a cost of 100k gems with a payout of 200k gems a year, one could save 100k gems and spend 100k gems every year, with the purchase of the original gem pits. A good investment if someone is a long time player. And there are a lot of people that will spend a lot of their gems as soon as they can (or splurging at holiday events).
So in conclusion, I disagree with the suggestion to increase the cap or removing of the cap for gem pits.
