CR program same day different......

BB I do have to say that this time you guys are going about it alot better than the CL program. But and there will always be buts, how do expect this to remain anonymous when all letss say player #1 has to do it tell his buddies it's him/her thus turning this into a popularity contest again. This will only lead to players that never say a peep to come back and try to impose thier will on the community. Plus all thier buddies and alts will come out to vote for said players. these programs can be good or can go south in a hurry. IMHO have players apply and you guys can see who interacts with the community or not and you guys pick them.

hmm, there doesnt seem to be an easy answer either way. people complained when we didn't get a vote on CLs. VERY loudly. now they're offering to let us vote on the project, not the person. cant prevent the applicants from sharing with their friends. but i think the uproar would be bigger if no vote were allowed at all.

but clearly these guys are just there to take flac. just to distract from the chat police that now roam freely. my point is that if BB would have done something like this when they started the CL progran it would have been accepted better than it was. nothing against smitey or SP but it was here you go green text players with no apparent purpose. then the fix was adding more again with no apparent purpose. and last but not least the popularity contest that brought out the lurkers and all the alts. how can any player be a "community anything" and not be part of the community? yes not everyone is going to be happy but to tell us thats is going to be anonymous please don't insult me any further. what came out of the CL program besides distrust and many of being called cheaters? will this be any different? i highly doubt it but we will see.

ya they handled the whole CL thing stupidly. seems like theyre trying to learn from it and correct that now. all we can do is give it a chance. fact remains that BB are less available now than before, yet chat still needs mods. and if the projects are handled correctly, they could be good too.

The applications only need to remain anonymous. Once the project is chosen, the player name attached to the project will be revealed. We want people to get credit for contributing to the community, but we don't want it to be a popularity contest in the beginning. We do hope that players submitting applications will remain anonymous and not tell everyone who they are.

yes BB but whats keeping said "applicant" from telling his buddies who they are in the voting and turning this into a popularity contest again. and having another player come out of the woodwork just to never see or hear from them again

Just like the founders of the United States believed in the electoral college, I do not believe the average player has the requisite experience and intelligence to vote directly on said project given the results of things like the guild market.

I think I'm living proof that the original CL program was not a popularity contest. :)

(I still have no idea how I got picked, because it seemed 90% of Ares was against me at the beginning.)

Who is it at BB that keeps expecting people to transcend Human nature? People want recognition as a rule.
Besides, it is the gem buyers who make the biggest contribution to the community anyway.

How can you say that when your forum title is Retired Community Leader? You are still after recognition for that, no?

Spikescopilot you are fine person and once I got to know you enjoyed talking to you. No one was against you personally but no one knew you. Most of us in game well over year and a half and I and many had never seen you. So you represented to the Ares players exactly what we got with the first two CLs. I mean how could BB expect veteran players to have someone "lead" them (and I use that term loosely) when they had never seen them before. I know your going to say Global is only small part but obviously that wasnt the case. The whole CL/Mod/Cr programs are designed to get work done for free for BB and first two are colossal failures but we are headed down the same path one more time.

As long as these new CR people follow what they said to do and not sway off path and try and get rid of "bugs" and "glitches" that are really positive to the community, i dont see this program having the negative feedback from the community like the CL program did.

and not calling people cheaters who use items that were put in the game by BB/Devs.*

ok so here's a thought for the bb and maybe a project for the CR program. Hold a popularity contest, wouldn't that at least for a small number of people do something? wouldn't that to some degree prevent what we are complaining about here?

I know, Po! What I meant was, I was the utter unknown because I was always so quiet on the server -- so that's the proof that the first CL program was no popularity contest. It seems that this time around they are going to try to keep it anonymous. I doubt that is going to work -- word will get out; it always does.

i guess congrats is in order. another distraction from real game issues expertly executed by BB

GFM, bugs ARE real game issues
and having organized help guides and mentors will be a good thing for the community.
us giving our time isnt hurting the game or you any.
