Clarification.... talking about prescribed medicine for an illness in global-1

I was recently talking in global-1 and was horrified when a player was told that they would be banned if they continued to talk about prescribed medicine that they were taking for an illness . The reason..... apparently (as explained to me by a mod) for the rule is that this may lead to talk of taking illegal drugs. To me this is as ridiculous as the assumption that talking about our children would lead us into talking about paedophilia.

For some people especially those who may have an illness the global-1 the chat window is a major form of social communication and I don't think that their illness or the prescribed medications that they take to cure it should be a taboo topic, that has to be taken to the dark corners of private chat window.

I have no complaint over the mod he/she was just enforcing the rule as they understood it.

Would BB please clarify this rule. I would also be interested to hear comments about this from other players.

As one of these players who has an illness, I discuss my issues and my meds on a regular basis, especially in help tab late at night, with another player who has illness. When the mod said we can't even talk about over the counter remedies, that's just crazy. "I just took an aspirin for my headache." How does that in any way violate PEGI7 guidelines? Even 7 year olds take aspirin.

As a former mod in 2 other games, I can say from experience that logic has to be applied to the rules. *When it becomes an issue, *then you step in, not before. Players do not want to be treated like 4 year olds, and chided for every little thing. That's the quickest way I know of to run people off.

I submitted a ticket on this issue, and will await the response next week. Keep in mind tho, that the entire BB staff for this game is NEW.

like the saying goes "absolute power corrupts absolutly" seems that some are a bit over zealous. and in the same breath talk about the same topics in "thier" real identity. and since on this subject BB should ban all accounts that have "420" in them since it's an obvious drug reference

I think every ban should be reviewed by BB and if the ban was unnecessary the mod should be removed. I feel like if a mod doesnt ban someone in awhile they start using twisted logic to say rules were broken or give a vague reason.

In general everyone should just evacuate the chat as soon as a BB/mod shows up, as they utterly destroy any decent conversation with the enforcement of their 0 backboneb rules.

or just make global-2 our default channel. i'd go there if everyone i talk to does too.

with that being said. we don't "know" who "they" are so whos to say that the person your chatting with is'n one of them just waiting for you to say something so they can switch to yellow mode and get you. Trust No one, Question Everything!!!!!

they aren't supposed to interfere with g2-30 unless a /report is made

One community mod in particular I have noted oversteps. Not sure they have actually banned anyone, but they chide people for far more then other Mods do.

I know a friend of my was banned when they asked a Mod for Clarification if about the rules on a certain subject... But instead, They got banned for asking that simple question.

Sounds a little like the SS from many years ago.

A few of the mods on Ares are definitely out of control, if BB lets it continue I'm done spending real money here and I'll go spend it on EVE. Keep your out of control mods BB or keep receiving my money, your choice.

Talking about prescribed medicine is fine, as long as this medicine is legal in ALL the states of the United States. If you have any doubts, please refrain yourself from posting.

Talking about any legal or illegal drugs/medicine for a recreational use will NOT be tolerated.

If you're privately talking about it with your friends, that's none of my business. What we want to avoid is a conversation about it in the Global channels, keep in mind that some kids might be playing and reading the chat.

Imagine that.
When you consider that mods are chosen from the player base, and that players on enough to effectively mod, are not always the best suited for the job, what can you expect? Certainly not the level of professionalism required to be impartial, logical, and fair.

O think you are right. If one is not talking about medicine in an illegal way, then it should be o.k. I understand that it can lead in a wrong way but that should be up to the one talking in the wrong way should be in trouble. But I am not the administrator and understand their concerns too. But why do to private chat if youare being an adult. I feel for the administrators. To monitor all of us must be a drag.

It seems sometimes the mod shows up gunning to make some bans then leaves.
