Feel free to discuss the Christmas Event 2014: Sneak Peek below.
I have a concern... Last year when buying the surprise package, you had 20% chance to get a Frozen Manor (for 95 gems). This year, for 195 gems, FM are not even on the list of possible gifts. I only bought 100 but that's a pretty good indication.
I feel that not putting the FM as an item gave a huge advantage to players last year and it's not fair to anyone playing the game now. Players that have a population of 20k plus is only because of that... It's almost impossible to compete without having a similar offer.
That's my 2 cents. :-)
PS: A Fire Manor with 280 population would also address this problem. ;-)
The event looks great with one exception - no one wants an arctic iron mine - they are a waste of space. On the other hand, everyone can use a coal manufactory. I would not even bother with the calendar this year if my only goal is an arctic mansion and an arctic iron mine. I can buy the one with gems and no one wants the other - you can't even sell them in the trade office! Please revise your calendar offerings and make them worth the effort!!!
I think there is some good and some bad. The additional recyclers will help save room for not needing all the pine wood cutters and forresters. Also the new 24 hours x2 buff is great. I can almost seem some issues when it runs for 36 hours if someone drops it for you but it is great. Makes buffing much much easier
What i am missing is that last year the opportunity to buy rtbn and mse. I could have done without the mse but was really hoping for rtbn. That is a little bit of a let down.
Also i was hopign there would be a new set of buildings to get to level 6 and there dont seem to be any new for that.
cool house
At first glance I was disappointed. No new buildings. No return of MA boxes, RTBN's and MSE. The Christmas box appears to be a total waste of time from what I've seen although i'll wait for more research to make a final judgment. But upon further review it's growing on me. The truth is we were completely spoiled last Christmas. And once they realized how great unlimited MA boxes and RTBN's were they were never going to bring them back. The opportunity to get 4 recyclers at 295 presents and 4 deerstalkers at 595 presents is actually really great. The calendar will also be nice. And the 24 hour Irma addition is wonderful. I really hope the intention is to continue that after the Christmas event ends and I have to imagine that is the case. Right now on test you can also get a second rph. So for those who make lots of frags, badges and want to add irmas to the mix that would make it easier. But I'm not sure if that is supposed to be happening because right now you can't use them both at the same time. I'm satisfied with it and excited about the convenience 24 hour irmas will bring. Those will be a gamechanger for the lazy buffer :)
good stuff :)
I missed out on some of the great things from last year apparently because I was still new, but still really great to have the gold tower and coal. I like the extra coal from this year as well, and a couple extra floating residences is always handy. Deerstalker Hut will probably be a decent deal at those prices. Frozen manor is nice (no use for arctic mine), but they're no gold tower.
Arctic Mine in the Calendar is garbage. Replace it with the new Gold Mine.
Would LOVE to see a new building offered (maybe an alchemist)! or island expansions! or a queue in the Barricks, Bookbinder, or/and Mayor's House! Or to be able to make more than 25 of.....anything.....or to see the fish farms in the merchant all year....or to be able to hover over any gen and have all the info (name of gen and which units are loaded on that particular general) like in star....a higher level than 50.....giftable premium days.....more marbles in each depo......also, a second Major General would be so nice! New adventures available all the time like the rest (getting bored w the current selection...)....OR....an IN GAME trade calculator (one that stays up to date)! Now THAT would be AWESOME! Or an IN GAME battle simulator :) Or a battlebook where we can keep and share (w guildies) all of our battle strategies. also, in our email....a choice to 'star' emails of our choice so they do not delete when checking 'select all'.
Christmas List complete....
The End - LOL!
The lack of frozen manors and return to bandits (very disappointed) nest stick out the most....the box is a dud when you can buy all the other stuff in the t.o. (who wants every other one to be a christmas tree, instead make 10,20,30 etc present packages or omniseeds and give a 5% chance of rtbn then all spend some gems), the new irmas feast is a good idea, i dont know about the rest of the stuff you can now make with rarity provision house...recyclers are nice and with the guild coins you can add up to six new ones which will free up alot of island space....Calender is good except for final reward, already have 50+ arctic mines laying around.... Was able to have two rarity provision houses on test, but only one would make anything....
OVERALL I GIVE AN AVERAGE GRADE....NEED SOMETHING FRESH AND EXCITING INCLUDED IN ALL OF THIS....A NEW COOL BUILDING (christmas house 100 residents) OR ABILITY TO CHANGE OUR AVATAR FOR A COUPLE HUNDRED PRESENTS-
Love the buffs that you add to the rarity ph to make new buffs.
loving the amount of recyclers you can get this year
get your explorers to find buffs and ull get mother rituals.
what happened to the 21st?
any new christmas character?
Me.
In TSO, opened 50+ Christmas Surprise Packages and was rewarded with:
60 Presents (Most Common)
Pavilion 8
Christmas Tree 10
Angel Monument 4
Arctic Iron Mine 7
Silo 2
Improved Silo 3
No Frozen Manor :(
Price of Xmas Package more than doubled from last year 195 vs 95 :(
Improved Silo :)
60 presents as common is OK for me :)
I may buy XMas Surprise packages if they lowered the price to 95 and likely pass if they keep it at 195. At 195, I may be tempted to get a bunch if Frozen Manor is added.
Other pluses seen: I already have a Rarity Provision House and was allowed to get a second one for 995 presents (could be a bug as second one does not allow upgrades). Unlocks like Aunt Irma's Feast (2X 24 hrs) 150 fish, 100 bread, 50 sausages per. Grout costs 60 presents (good for me)
PS: I see Fish Farm at Merchant 845 gems (unlimited).
Problem though with the presents being the most common item, is there is only so much this year you can buy with presents.
At least last year you had mse and rtbn you use all your unwanted leftovers ...its strange they removed the frozen manors and doubled the cost of the boxes there main selling point was the frozen manors. I spent about 20k plus gems on the European server on architect boxes last year
It isn't as 'fun' that they removed the FM but it is better for the long term stability of the game. Last year's xmas took the hardest and best population building to get, and turned it into something where you could get enough to fill your entire island. They should put something else in the box like grout, fish farm sorta thing or a VERY small chance of FM (1% sorta thing)
And I am sure the excess presents will be soaked up by grout or some other building
yes looks like grout should be good to have as silos and imp silos look like they can be level 6 now
Unless you choose to play the test game all the time, it's useless and frustrating. By the time you try to test something, the game is reset and you are back to stupid quests like "your first building". I have pretty much decided not to bother with any more testing. I will figure it all out when it gets to the real game. And I agree that no sensible player wants the frozen iron mine. If you are going to have it, at least make it refillable.
Well said.
umm my arctic iron mines are refillable is this some sort of new iron mine?
Just a suggestion for a new buildings. Santa's Workshop or a number of buildings requiring a larger footprint called Christmas Town. They could have the ability to combine granite and exotic wood to create a limited number of elves houses with a population of 125 each. Also a thought, instead of an Artic Iron Mine, how about adding a new limited edition Titanium Mine with a finite number of stocked units that is both buffable and upgradable similar to the granite pits currently available. Instead of Frozen Manor's you could add Elves House's as a stand alone building decorated in a Christmas theme. At the end of the advent calendar this year you could replace the current offerings with an Epic Workyard or 2 one time building upgrades to instantly level a building to level 6. Another interesting and new building for example would be a brick maker that would create bricks that would reduce your upgrade time from level 4 to 5 buildings from 7 days to 4. The brick maker would combine wheat (straw), water and hardwood for these bricks. These rare items help lower ranked players enjoy the diversity of the game earlier and give them incentive to keep logging in to pursue even better items, and over time make it even better for higher ranked gamers to offer more diversity on their islands
I agree i spent over 20k gems last Christmas because of the chance to get a FM for 95 gems i wanted to buy more gems for Christmas event and i have over 20k gems now but not with what is offered and over double the price i don't think so. Less for more doesn't work for me seems like they are trying to get their gems back faster from the pits they sell. Try to get your gems by offering good deals people will buy and spend but trying to gouge people doesn't work i mean really you charge thousands of gems to level a building why? Who in their right mind would do that a newbie lower it down to a few gems and people would do it like crazy especially with the price of granite make it reasonable for people to spend gems go for bulk instead of gouging you will find it will work better.
I agree that overall BB dropped the ball on basically doubling the cost of prize boxes and dropping the Frozen Manor; 195 gems is way too much for the possible rewards...i bought 100 on test server and i won't bore you w/the results but was a total waste of gems and time...I believe their drop in sales of these boxes this year will reflect players overall dissatisfaction..I spent over 10k gems on MA boxes last yr, but won't spend a single gem on this yrs offerings
Im actually pretty satisfied that they nerfed the MA boxes this year, would have just lead to another dramatic increase in supply of the best pop building in the game- dropping their price in TO which would allow the most noobiest of players to obtain bulk of these pop buildings. for once (since 2012) it seems like new players will actually have to work and grind to gain any significant ground on this game, as it should be.
no mse ?
My pop is to lo, i need FM! plz. I'll trade you my arctic iron mines for FM? How's 3 arctic's for 1 FM sound? now in t/o 3 AIM for 1 FM 20 lots.
In the event chain you have to a "Military adv" ok, so I have done Christmas ones with the present buffs, and regular adv...are you telling me you have to do a pvp one to earn this?
Also...the balancing on the buffs is too spendy....

I disagree. I liked the MA boxes. However what I thought they should have done was decrease the probability of aquiring the Frozen Manor. It was handed out too much last year. (I should have jumped on it then but didn't, oh well). But it is what it is. They will eventually release another building that will have a better pop pop in the space. They do it regular enough.
I'm confused, what's too spendy on the buffs? When I did the math from my regular 150 baskets being dropped, down to 75, I'm saving tons of resources and that's with self dropping. With my workshift, the swapping of feast would not be worth it for timing purposes. Now if you include the ones where it stops all buffs on the island I think that one is unwise, it should be the ones you choose. For ex, if you need to stop 75 buffs, you aquire 75 of them.
Overall, I'm satisfied with this yr's Christmas Event but then it depends on the Christmas Advent Calendar. I remember last yrs... I hope it's better.
