Game update 12/18 - Why?

Dear Settlers,

I'd like to answer a question about today's short downtime: The game was updated for a preventive reason.
There was a chance that playing adventures or colony mode could lead to a locked zone.
This was solved with today's extra update.

Thanks to all Community members who shared details in our forums and via Customer Support e-mails.
This helped a lot to speed things up.


As you know, there won't be game updates//maintenance//guild quest resets until January (see schedule here) and the team wants to ensure that you can enjoy the game during Christmas/vacation time. Therefore a brief downtime was needed. On the pro-side everything was done more than 1 hour earlier and premium/adventure times have been extended by 6 hours; although all tasks were done in less than 2 hours already.
