Quality Gold Mineshafts

having successfully gotten 3 geologists trained to max quality gold mineshafts I looked forward to finally being able to keep my gold mines functioning in a 'quality' state with reasonable frequency.

Over time, I began to get the distinct feeling that something was amiss. It seemed that I was not getting the purported 45% find rate listed in the skills section of the geologist tree. Knowing that I could be reinforcing misses and ignoring finds, I decided to start keeping track of my find/no find rate.

This is still early, as there are always forum sharks that scream you must have a 1000 trials for it to be worth anything, but I'm posting this now to see if anyone else has already discovered my results.

So far out of 68 searches, I've found 22 quality (double speed) mine shafts. That works out to 32% rather than the listed 45% rate.

I'll continue to keep a record of my results till I get to 1000.

3/13/15 as posted at the end of this thread, my final results came out to 46%. I stopped at 458 searches.

Would be interested in the results. When it first came out I would swear it was closer to 10%.

Yep my quality is about 1 in 3 searches as well. Would be easier to just crank it to 50% and make the game auto crit with fast mine on second search after the first gives regular mine. Would any one have a problem with this?

i once sent out a geo for a week straight repeatedly before he finally found quality gold ... very frustrating. it was after the big maint that changed adv and loot and added pvp.

yes, it's another one that's either broken or intentionally nerfed... ran 20 gold mine searches last couple of days got 2 fast ones....

It is 45% chance for each search, not 45% chance on all searches - so the figures you're seeing are entirely possible, albeit a bit unlucky..

someone always have to bring up the same old "unlucky" junk.... enough people do enough series and all are coming with 1/2 what should be long term average, there's no "unlucky" there... on the other hand , there's a good old logic: nerfing things left and right fits perfectly into typical inept way of BB dealing with runaway inflation and unraveling of the economy.

Id rather send ONE geo out for 2 months to find all fast gold mines compared to wasting precious books on more than one geo rather all of your explorers.

Why not train all specialists:)

because it is pointless- where are u getting the books to train 21 explorers + the lucky and scout we get from this upcoming easter, plus multiple geos (it is possible to have them ALL maxxed but not very likely, only a few were able to buy hundreds of RBNs 2 xmases ago)... and really why would u need more than one geo to find fast gold mines- I found them once, put a lvl6 mine on it and keep it from depleting and that is it. i found each mine one time and never needed to again- but u can send your explorers out frequently to find u rainbows.
