Well put Vanessa, the only thing i dont agree with is that people cant "work" for these items by doing searches and adventuring. This is exactly how people will get these items, you adventure and search and then use those items you get to trade for eggs, you work hard enough and you will get the eggs through trade. I understand you meant the eggs will be in the loot and be in the searches, but by trade, it is pretty much the same thing. I have seen people complain how hard it is for a new player to start now and stick with this game but I disagree with that. Talk to Tibeous. He started the game a few months ago, he was in a guild and was having a hard time getting started and progressing his island and what not. I became friends with him and took him under my wing, he joined my guild and I told him everything I know about this game. He is like lvl43 and playing for like 3 months or so and he is now richer than a lot of lvl50s in the game. I know he will not have a hard time at all getting everything from the shop. I am open to help anyone with tips and what not- but i know that pretty much everyone who plays this game has the ability to get what they want if they put in time and wised up. The Settler World is YOURS! Like TUNA007 said in the expert weapons thread, If people put the same amount of time complaining and whining into the actual game, no one would have any problems getting what they want.
I am wayy better looking though
Yes, it will be possible for people to trade for the old eggs of course and with work, many will be able to get items from the old shop. What worries me is will there be enough of the finite number of those eggs available to accommodate everyone or will their efforts be for nothing if the supply runs out before they can get what they need or want. In my history here I have told many that the Easter event is something to look forward to as a chance to get some really good things such as a veteran general and the MMA. Now it seems those things are being dangled just out of reach for some and giving egg hoarders the chance to wring their hands in anticipation of a chance to monopolize on the situation. Will newer players drudge on with these frustrations I wonder or will they see it as a sign of what's to come and give up? I think most will want to apply their efforts toward a reachable goal that's worth reaching for.
yeah i hear you. and even though the new easter shop is a lot less appealing than the old shop, i am very much looking forward in getting more floating residences, those alone will make the event for me (and they are very very cheap).
yeah, two more floating residences seem to be the highlight of the event for me at this point... I'm so eggcited :P
lol
Want to say Thanks to BB for this game. it has much to be developed but it is a great experience. I look forward to many thngs in gameplay and it is truly my best hobby. Trying to satisfy the community is a study in futility. But I believe many of the new adjustments to the game are making the game better.
One caveat, I thnk what happened with the ma made the developers gun-shy about the dynamics of the gameplay. It tilted the advantage over to the players in a big way. The changes to adventrues is a cse in point. One guy wrote that he could do IOTP WITHOUT even guiding the gens. He just sent mas and vets, pointed thm at the leaders and let them ping pong around the island. he came back 20 mins later and closed the adv. So BB had a real dilemma in the trying to fix the ma advantage. IMO, that is why all thse contortions to the sytem. If they allowed us 3 or 4 mas it would be a joke to do ft. Anyway, that is my 2 cents. And, game on.
If you are going to reward new players for NOT playing last year nor the year before by allowing them to get the all the special event items, then I want the "Pirate Hut" - no, not the pirate residence - but the special bldg. given out to Beta testers for the "new" Ares server. I missed Beta testing by three months.
^^ :)
Agreed with all the comments about Legendary Vet.. How can it be a Vet, if it carries less troops, and High HP only helps when it is the last standing unit, which is not much at all... The damage it makes, specially without Splash Damage, I am guessing will not have any significant benefit.
I understand that making it carry 250 troops will make Vet completely useless.. but there should be some variation, just like MMA, which would make it noticeably useful in considerable scenarios... Just for example - how about a MMA with lesser troops but higher HP?.. Or same as MMA with slightly lesser damage but higher HP.. etc..
Good feedback Focusdonhim, but IMHO, MMA was quite balanced.. Don't know why BB is being gun shy with Legendary Vet though. BB should be able to easily create a variation of a General well balanced against existing Generals.. I think they still have some room to play around with various attributes of a general.
At 150 population (well, technically 180, but let's be honest that almost nobody is going to do the expeditions), the Easter residence is narrowly better than a frozen manor. The concept of upgrading buildings through achievements is an interesting one that may finally bring some use to the achievements system.
I agree that it would be best if the legendary vet general were a true legendary vet with at least the 250 troop capacity and special abilities to complement the generals already in existence. In either case, I'm looking forward to the Easter event!
It is not the logistics and reason why new eggs are implemented. I think everybody understands and more or less supports the idea of NOT hoarding event resources. Why not offer MMA general for new eggs as well as for old? And fine if you want players buying gems put a limit 1 on MMA from event so you have to spend gems to buy 2nd. I think this way you are straight with everybody. You give all players in game a chance to get the best gen in the game for event resources (they have to play and it is still free game) and a chance to get a 2nd one (if somebody wants it badly) for real cash purchase.
This way every one gets a chance to get the goodies (free game) and if you want more of it you got to pay. You give stuff for free (no need to buy gems) and also option for more for gems. I wouldn't have ANY problems with this approach. Not only you reinforce the free game reality, but also spur gem sales. Nobody can accuse you of greed, you give a chance to get MMA to all players, and at the same time you boost player hunger that can only be satisfied by... gem purchase.
I have 2MMA's I bought one from event and 2nd from gems. I am very happy to have 2 and very satisfied at the prices of getting both. Didn't need to get 2nd one but wanted to and I have no regrets paying gems for him. I am happy about it.
I am not sure how I would feel about it if this was be my first Easter in TSO. NO practical chance to get even 1 MMA while hoarders can rip me off by jumping prices because... the only way I could get MMA is through old eggs that I CAN'T get. I don't really care how you explain the reasoning for this. It just doesn't feel right.
Last year did feel right. Got MMA from event and could get another (as luxury) for gems. This year? Just not fair to newbies.
I wrote few times on those forums what works in free MMO's. If the game is free you can't limit and gate players to force them to purchase stuff for cash. You give a fair chance for all players to get goodies that you can put a limit on. Then you offer more for those goodies for cash in the shop. As well as lots of fluff for those who can afford that is not must to have but fun (if you like to have it).
This is a recipe that's been working very well for games who are either paid, free or employ a combination of both models (like SWTOR). The only just things for older players to have that new players can't have are achievements and fluff unobtainable anymore for newbies. NOT VITAL AND IMPORTANT FEATURES (like the best general in the game). I frankly believe the grim and drama you (BB) created by offering Frozen Manors once from gift boxes and shutting that down last year was a bad rep. You put a lot of grim on newbies who were silently hoping for their chance of getting the best housing in the game as older players had.
It wasn't fair because older players didn't have to do anything to get the FM, just spent some gems and some didn't even do that - buying boxes for coins because you could gift them. It just wasn't fair.
That is like saying that it was not fair that BB made gem packs (gifting 200 gems to a friend at the cost of 220 gems) only availilbe for those two weeks in halloween. But in reality life is not fair, not everything is going to be fair, and what is fair for some may be seen as unfair for other. Gem packs and MAs were a bad business idea for BB because it (imo) affected their long term gem sales negatively, so it is not fair for BB if MAs became available again and made FMs too easy to get so no one would ever feel the need to run Nords2 again and the gem packs- One player buy 20k gems, invests 20k gems into a gem pits and gets 40k gems (20k free) now that player gifts another player 40k gems (costs 44k), invest those in 2 gem pits and that is 80k gems that was made from only 20k gems that was purchased with $$.
The main point is that (like i said) what one person says is fair or unfair, might not be fair or unfair to another person. But your argument is pretty much saying that if BB decides to make changes to gem shop or event shop, players who missed those items/feature before the change should still be able to get them, which is pretty noble (assuming you did not miss getting those items and that you are just speaking to try and help low levels) but it is not too sensible.
I could argue that i was a month or 2 shy of getting the Beta Memorial that the Beta testers received (which imo is the nicest building in the game), I should be sent a Beta Arch because it is unfair that I (myself) was not playing at that point in time...
Yeah because I was not playing at the time, but I'm not going to stomp my feet and say it is not fair that you have (imo) the nicest building in the game and I dont. I missed out because I was not around at the time and the only rational thing to do (imo) is to move on.
Why not? Because I was not around then and I was not a Beta Tester, why should i be given a building that I was not around for? Yes if it was available for gems I would most likely buy one, but it is not, just like how you can't purchase 10 MMAs or FMs with gems, you just cant do it lol, but you are saying I should whine to get these things that i missed out on? Maybe if I was a child I would do this, but I'm not.
I think my point is, is that BB should not be selective to a single or type of player- if they make last years event shop available it should be available for everyone with the limit reset, why bend to one player's wants/needs if you are not going to offer the same deal to everyone on the server.
We want it all and we want it MEOW!!!!!!!
Assuming that if someone had eggs from last event, and they would have used it for whatever they needed... I am tempted to read the above statement as follows -
Simply deleting the old eggs would have been unfair to anyone who hoarded them in the previous Easter Events.
Note that I am not advocating that they should have been deleted.. but like few others, I was also under the impression that the New Eggs are being introduced to prevent hoarding... But how is that different from someone saving an event adv during an event, and later not being able to finish them because the buffs required to produce them can no longer be produced.
Old Eggs were supposed to be useful while the last event was on.. No one promised either ways. So, personally, I would have been fine if BB decided to delete those eggs.. If not, I would expect the event shop to be active and available even after the event is over.. Kind of like have the removal phase 1, but not the phase 2 when shop items are also removed.. Otherwise the 2nd phase was your last chance to use those resources... and there should be no reason to complain otherwise.
I think this was implemented in the fairest way possible.
I don't mind older players having stuff that newbies don't. It's fine. As long as that STUFF is not "vital" to the game. Have some unobtainable monuments and decorations, brag about it - fine with me. Try to reach 10k population without Frozen Manors? And have some economy on your island to run any adventures?
Everybody who was playing during that Xmas had an easy chance to get FM's. That chance was removed.
About a chance for players to get some stuff from old eggs instead of deleting them... Here is what you are doing BB. You are removing old event resource, giving old players who have those a chance to use them. AT THE SAME TIME YOU ARE NOT ALLOWING NEW PLAYERS TO BUY THE SAME STUFF - there is no MMA for new eggs. How in this world is that fair?
4 years i have watched as the big spenders have saved, hoarded, and exploited the resource event items. Through lots of hard work, i am finally able to save some from last year.
Fair you say? Fair would be warning us in advance, so some of us didnt spent every thing they had to get more eggs. I dont mind the change, just the way its implemented, i spent 10's of thousands to save eggs from last year, and there is nothing from last year that i didnt get, oh, except screwed.
-J-
Old eggs now are going for absurd amounts, so anyone wanting to cash out has more chance to profit by gouging than ever before.
If BB was to allow players to buy the MMA with the new eggs then they would also allow the older players to do the same. Then most older players would then have 3 MMA's while the new would only have 2. So BB is in a sense being quite fair by preventing that outcome and allowing the new players to catch up with old eggs even though at an outrageous price cause of its scarcity. It's not BB's fault some people missed out in 2014 like myself. The old players didnt know last year BB was going to do this, this year.
FM's can be bought/traded or acquired in Nords 2. The players that do have these, ARE USING THEM because one = 2 level 5 nobles for the same space and this map is limited on space. So to have the audacity to call someone a HOARDER because you refuse to go earn your own is ignorant.
Like i said earlier, what is "fair" for one person is not always "fair" for another- Your idea of BB being fair defeats the purpose and benefits of being a long time player if they are "allowing the new players to catch up" to long time playing players. I personally do not care because i hardly run advs or do anything besides trade and help guildies and friends, but I am just playing the Devil's advocate here.
you make it seem like the word HOARDER is a negative thing, I am a HOARDER and PROUD!!!
yay! MMA!
Yay great news . Thank you
Would someone please help me to get back on my feet? I seem to have passed out when I saw that changes were made to the Easter event that were requested by the players.
Taken a bad idea and made it worse...
What of the vet, the explorer, the floating residences, and the watermills that were previously to be part of the 'old easter shop'?
Yippee!...ty bb
