Why all the trend towards single player?

I have only been around for a year and not all of that very active but the unpopular flaming mess of an Easter Event has drawn my attention to the forum and I thought that I should ask this so that perhaps I could gain some enlightenment. I regularly learn that I'm missing out on obvious things and I'm hoping that this will be the case here as well.

With the introduction of PvP and the way that in the Easter Event egg drops have been skewed against adventures that allow for multiple players it seems that there is a strong trend in the content being introduced to force players to cooperate less among each other. It seems to be a systematic deconstruction of the social aspect of the game environment. Why is this occurring?

The entire reason why I choose to play this game instead of a single player game hosted on my PC is because I can interact with other players in a friendly and cooperative manner. That's the advantage that it has over a single player TBS game.

When players are channeled into conducting solo endeavors, be it PvP expeditions or adventures, then chat falls off, trade falls off, and it starts to seem a lot like playing solo. Is this intentional?

I, because of personal preference, play all multi player games solo.

Would agree. Ran a couple of Tomb Raiders and the loot + egg drops was just bad. Why not have better egg drops in co-ops. Traitors or IotP drop more eggs then an FT, RB or BK does. How does that make any sense?

Seeing as RB is stillone of the most frequent run adventures, if you just on par the eggs with Traitor eggs etc, you can get 450 eggs out of there for 3 players as opposed to 150 for the others. However, at, what is it, just under 70 eggs per lootper RB, that's 210 that get into circulation that way. How you want to do your math is up to you.
FTs being so meager sure feels wrong, but considering time/troop/cost efficiency, FTs wouldn't be mainly run for eggs then regardless, doubt they would spit more than 200 either.
The whole thing about Co-ops I have yet to understand, aside from Tomb Raider, where everyone can finish their part at their own discretion, all the other one make you wait on another player to do his part. This. Is. So. Annoying. Specially with different timezones. Main reason I don't play them, this waiting on another player to do his part so I can continue my own one just costs time if you aren't sitting through that thing in 1 sitting togehter.

I am surprised people think the advantage is for the solo player. RB and BK are mostly run as solo player with a loot spot, so you get more resources in total per time and total troop loss per resource is less than a solo player running traitors or iotp or heaven forbid outlaws. There is a reason why loot spots have gone up in price during the event and it isn't because there is no demand because running them is such a bad deal.

I mostly ran motherly love this event along with my friend. He gave me the eggs and kept all the other resources. So my total egg chance was just as high from that as iotp and we got more total resources.

I do agree about Co-ops though I have always been mystified as to why anyone would want to do those.

Also I don't agree about your game philosophy. In typical MMOs group play needs to be encouraged to have any social aspect since the games are faster moving. This is a waiting game so there is a lot of chat opportunities build into the game automatically.

well I've run almost only IOTPs and with 225 egg drop, and the ability to do one in 8min from when the generals land, any adv you wait for someone to tag or lose more than 300 Rs on is wasting time. as for outlaws, it does have a slightly higher loses but a chance at the double granite drop is more than worth it.

I agree, the co ops were a cute idea that would have been a nice feature, sadly ruined by lack of good loot. I think the solution isn't just regular 'loot' based.
The devs had their best idea in a long time this easter with the achievement house that is better than a FM when fully upgrade. Things like that should be incorporated into the coop adventures (upgrade able bone church or something)

PVP also needs some love like that hard, as it has near worthless loot and terrible shop items.

And I guess everyone has unlimited IOTPs to be able to run them every 8 minutes and I guess it only takes you 8 minutes to do outlaws too. I guess you should explain to the people who are willing to pay almost twice the amount for the RB loot spot during the event as previous that they are wasting their money because they can run IOTP every 8 minutes and get more eggs. IOTPs really should never have even entered this discussion because for most people that adventure just isn't readily available.

many of us have hundreds if not more stocked up for IOTP..... it is quite available, just worth more than it use to go for.

During an event like this because of the speed (20-25 mins) for the reasonable chance at 150 eggs it is simply the most efficient way of farming a resource; would be negligent not to mention the adventure as a farming tool.

And it is silly to equate ls buyers with not running IOTP/single player. I buy the ls for twice the amount during the event while I am efficiently farming IOTP and a few other adventures to remain nameless.

Yes, this is something BB really needs to address to make the game more equal. The issue isn't the game is trending towards single player, the issue is more that because of the changes over the years events are jokes to people who have 'everything' and almost impossible to complete for new players and the gap in this regard just widens.

In the future BB, should not provide events drops in ANY adventure that can't currently be purchased with map frags or gems. That would solve the problem with IOTP.

Well it is an economy sim (I use that term somewhat tongue in cheek) it isn't supposed to be equal the game is supposed to reward building your base and then trading intelligently. Everyone gets the same canvass (that little island we call home) and then from there equality will never exist again.

That said I do agree with you idea that adventures like IOTP BK and RB shouldnt be the primary egg drops, an event should encourage new adventures being tested and discovered for farming which results in new guides or ideas etc etc.

Many of us have hundreds of IOTPs? What many are you talking about? I don't know anyone with hundreds of any adventure and been playing for over 2 years have guildies been in since server start. You sure must spend a lot of RL money on this game.

Well now you know someone! It was really simple, took that rarity provision house, manufactured map frags, sold anything and everything for map frags... and then used untold map frags to buy IOTP, SA before they were removed from the shop. Most of the serious players I know were doing the same thing... I am pretty sure the rarity provision house was from a christmas event so no gems involved in the process.. just basic planning. You should travel in different circles, could have gotten good advice before it was too late.
I should have and could have bought thousands in hindsight.

I have spent RL money on the game though but not since 2012 or early 13, but it was wasted in gem pits which have since been demolished and now the gems sit in my inventory with nothing to be used on,

The biggest egg drops shouldn't be from the easiest adventures (traitors pirates wots) they should be from follow up adventures like RBN and ML (to really limit availability) and then co op adventrues, to increase cooperation. But I think the goal was simply to make it really easy, even RB swaps drop tons of eggs.

I can understand buying some SAs, probably not hundreds, but not sure about IOTP. IOTP is a good adventure for lower levels, and you could help out guildies or sell it, but I think frags would be better spent on BKs or RBs. Loot is better and you can make more selling those LS (assuming that BB doesn't make IOTP a highly sought after adventure for an event - kind of hit the jackpot there). Hope that the investment pans out for you. I will keep hording my resources for the rainy days of the future: well, whatever I have left after this event anyway.

Why would you buy adventures that continue to be sold. There is unlimited supply of those. (sigh) Economics can be tough I know; I've been selling IOTP for 100 eggs almost all event long, which would mean a return on investment of 3000-4000% so yes yes the investment did pan out....

I buy what I like to run with my guild mates is all. Already have so much stuff in my star, trying the corner the market on something like an adventure, just doesn't appeal to me. Would rather be socializing in chat, or running an adventure, then playing on the TO or in Trade. Has nothing to do with economics, more to do with what people are trying to get out of the game.

Which leads us back to the starting point of the thread, in that BB should try to promote co-ops more during events. Having Traitors and IOTP be two of the main adventures that got focus because of egg drops seems a bit out of sorts. Maybe an overreaction to the Halloween event, when everyone was only running BKs because of the drops.

BB advertised well in advance that IOtP would be dropped from adv store, and I like many others with an RPH stocked up on them. I ran through 25-30 and then began buying them in TO for map frags. Once I had enough eggs to buy a 2nd MMA, I was able to chain the advs. I hope they return this adv to the store, also, now that my stock is gone:)

I made most of my eggs from Outlaws, though there were other simpler/faster ways to do so. Not easy to come by as it once was but not too bad. If I couldn't find, though, Traitors and Bandit Nest are both a lot faster and available in the shop for fragments, so it's not as if all of the higher egg drop adventures were that tough to obtain.

you guys do realize that Ubisoft is a "for profit" company??? of course they want you to send money, you don't go to work for free do you? if you guys want all the cool stuff then I suggest spending some money. BB in the future make all event quests/adventures limited gem items!!!!!

I believe that making event quests/adventures limited gem items might be going too far as it requires players to repeatedly make purchases during an event. However, making an event have a gem buy-in to simply get started or beyond a very early gateway might be a viable way to make money.

However, doing something like this opens a certain pandora's box in that each and every player who pays to participate in this manner will likely have a higher expectation of the event itself. Changes midstream, failed removal scripts, etc are things that would be highly flammable topics when the entire participating population in an event is composed of those who wanted it badly enough to pay for it. And rightly so.

With adequate planning and good execution I'd be in favor of such a model.

my point being is that players that are die hard free players complain a lot about not getting everything available. believe me I was one of those players. but after a while I cowboy'd up and bought some gems and since then have had no issue with any event

Agreed.

Witch of the Swamp dropped a potential of 100 eggs (28.04% of the time) and was available in the shop for 95 frags. 8 minutes to complete from the time the generals land.
