Loot! Weapons Loot! Now we're getting somewhere.
Bidding war out of control. The price of frozen manors has doubled in the past month. Witch towers are following suit after having been kept artificially high by a reseller. I might have a bunch of coin that I don't know what to do with, but not enough to participate in this nonsense.
A fantastic question - and one I have attempted to acquire for some time: I asked for responses on this forum; via ticket submission; via CS email (BB); via CS email (UBI), and guess what? Not a single response.
Not sure what their intention was, but the only people enjoying this is the greedy hoarders who attempt to monopolize the TOs. As far as the BB/UBI intentions of getting people to buy more (or buy less) of the Nords2 adventures, but I doubt there are enough hoarders who are willing to spend that kind of coin for a sub-2% drop rate. 1495 gems works out to what in USD? $10 per adventure (≈$500 per drop); $6.23 per if you purchase the big package at regular best value pricing (≈$311 per drop). I am betting there are very few players who can afford to play Invasion of the Nords at that price. There is no other real valuable loot in there (well, rainbow bags are ok, but also not common, so still not a real bargain for spending on the adventure).
All that being said, the fact that BB/UBI continue to ignore, leave the crummy drop rate AND kept the original price tells me one of two things:
- It was the designer's intent to stop players from buying/running this adventure, and from all available reports, it has stopped people from running them less they are blessed with one dropped from a Nords.
- There may be sufficient players purchasing the Invasion of the Nords adventure still. IDK? As such, they do not feel the need to respond to us.
In any case, in most issues, there is no response from the dev team on our concerns/issues. We have good BB Rep's trying to interface, but I do not think they are either told the answers by the dev team; or are perhaps not allowed to tell us. I am not a religious person, but it does remind me of the part in Job where the deity essentially informs Job that they owe him no explanation for the things that occur in his life.
Note that there may be a bigger picture: Loot has been nerfed on many player-favorite adventures and ALL coop adventures; defenders in FT's were boosted to kill LOTS more troops, though loot is better; Expeditions are being pushed. That may be the ultimate driving point to some of these changes; get players to merrily frolic over to the nearest colony to play some more PvE.
all due to the decrease of the drop rate chance from the adventures (and increase gem prices for nords2), it will cost somewhere around 3.5million gold coin to loot 1 frozen manor from a nords2... FM price is no where near there because of the christmas "giveaway" a few years back- eventually more FMs and WTs will be taken out of circulation of market and prices will only get higher
Lol, no hoarding for me. I actually use my resources one way or another and the frozen manors sit beautifully on my island housing the fighters. BB has it all wrong I guess?
I bought my legendary blacksmith scroll on eBay.
I think it's a balancing act for designers in regards to loot.
Do you make adventures with rare loot drops where people grind the adventures into it drops. (RNG) like White Castle. Dark Castle. Bone Church. (Frozen Manor from Invasion of Nord 2).
Or Do you create Loot that you can 'eventually' get (even if it takes a long time to get) like Beanstalk stuff. MagicCastle/Generals/Residence.?
I like the idea of the Rare Drop loot so long as it can be traded. Because after a while the RNG sucks so bad you might never get a drop and end up buying from others. I think it would also be cool to have a 'history' associated to rare collectible loots too where it shows how many people have owned it. Or how many times it has been traded. This could some how effect its value maybe. Or some visual effect change.
I like the idea of an Epic shop with items that can only be earned over time. But the currency are soul bound. You must earn it. Beans/Beanstalks are trade-able and I don't like that. People can just buy beans and skip the work/time. It shows achievement when you own these.
A lot of good ideas in this thread... too bad that it is unlikely to be taken seriously by the designers.
The problem is, expeditions ARE NOT played! Most players just don't play them, rather this is due to low risk/reward ratio, general lack of interest in "pvp" by the community or by mechanics that are not forgiving for making a mistake, or all of the above (and more reasons). There is a lot of effort on the Devs part put into "pvp" and the respond of the game community is ...*crickets*
Seems the only people really excited about the "pvp" in this game are.. the devs themselves. Ironic.
I am not a game designer, but I know when I work with my client and do what I like and not what the client wants, I most likely will not keep him/her coming back. Maybe in gaming this model works different? :)
The PEGI 7 rating does not align with the majority of the user base.
Adapting a business model to conform to an international association with scientific and pedagogical purposes (ISFE), which make discoveries through trial by error, could result in a breakdown instead of a breakthrough for a business following the ISFE model.
At a Crossroad, expansion islands could be an ideal avenue to transition to a fee based membership, eliminate gems from free play.
Pre-sell expansion islands using some type of Group-Fund, if the fund goal is met, the project moves forward. Current Islands would remain, only change is in name, Introduction Islands.
BB is missing the boat by not offering a greater variety of decor in the Merchant Shop. There should be multiple sets of modular, properly scaled, colored coordinated, walls, hedges, gardens, fountains, towers....
I don't wish to turn this into another how to fix TSO so I will end my comments here.
I know for sure lots of people would love to have some nice decor on their islands (I wouldn't mind some either). Unfortunately, in order to run 5 epic adventures a week and be self sustained I got to cramp and squeeze everything and the kitchen sink on my little piece of land. I would love to have a nice looking island too instead of pushing the placement of production in places making my island look like an old, stuffed closet...
Not sure if after 3 years of free play a transition into fee play model would work well. Besides what about those who bought all gem pits (ones or over time) and now are sitting on 100K+ gems and nothing to spend them on? (buying Nords2 for a 3% chance of getting FM is insanity not spending). if a fee of 5$ a month was asked for and I spend over 300$ last two years on the game when others didn't give a penny. I would certainly feel cheated out to be asked to now pay monthly.
Besides, the majority of players play this game because it's "free". Rather you like it enough and want to make the play easier and more enjoyable by purchasing some gems - that doesn't change the fact - you don't feel the guilt of "paying" for the game...
How about a $5/month and you get a decor of your choosing for free and 5,000 gems a month as an incentive?
did I miss the mid summer event?
I used to pay for a few gems, but then I ran out of things to really buy with gems, and now that I'm lvl 50, I'm overflowing with gems. I don't really need any more generals or explorers, and I just don't want to fork out the gem cost to fix the couple of explorers I'd now like to change. What's left?
I've been playing for a few years now. I do seem to see more gem sales than I recall them having when I 1st started. There isn't anything in a long time that would make me want to buy anymore gems. BB has had their good additives in the game along with some bad ones. I wish they would split their efforts to balance out the game improvements in both PvP and PvE areas because that's the groups they have playing. Sure a huge change can be a good thing in 1 of those areas, but it can also be a bomb too. I would be quite happy seeing small, steady improvements in both areas than waiting over a year for them to maybe make an improvement in my side of the game (PvE).
1. Change the guild, epic, limited, adventure shops more often. For the adventure shop, maybe have more adventures available and think twice about removing adventures that are your top sellers or are needed for guild quest. If you do a vote on these items, than at least the players will feel that the items wanted the most are making it into the shop. Maybe add some of those rare adventures to the Epic shop that cost beans or stalks, and you get a win win BB because players will have to run FT's to get the beans and run the FT castle to make the stalks to get those adventures/things.
2. Not everyone maxed out the science tree, and that is a VERY slow process to get things done. But some have maxed it out. So why not expand what the Science tree can do now? There are a lot of buildings and gens left for you to work with.
3. Epic items and star coins. This was added to help give level 50 players something for them, something to work towards. I don't recall anything more coming of it. Some new adventures to do that won't take 2 years of buffing and running the weapon chains to run just one either! Since you took away weapons from loots instead of just dropping the amount a LS gives, which would have been far better than it's complete removal.
4. Some new buffs we can make that maybe lessens the amount of resources needed, that speeds up the time on creating those items, or a combination of those things on top of what we have already. There is still things that can be done on the buff area that can be seen to the majority as a good improvement.
5. Adventure searches seem to really suck now and they drop way more coop ones. A change in that to drop other adventures and a better chance at getting those more wanted adventures would also be seen as a good thing to the majority of players.
6. The achievement thing was nice, I think having it maybe become like the "Quest chains" would be cool. So, once you complete a chain and collect the reward, in a given amount of time the chain renews it's self and the player has a new chain to do. I can be satisfied with the reward still being the same amount. Those that were level orientated... well you'll have to come up with something like gathering X amount of star coins, once done the player gets a reward, and the clock is reset for them to begin collecting a set amount of star coins again for the next prize and so on.
7. BB wants players to buy gems for the premium they introduced, which was a good additive. There is still a lot that can be improved on that aspect of the game that would be seen as a good thing and make it more appealing to buy. Like 1, the ability to get the buff bonus even if the player placing the buffs is not on PA, maybe even a slight (but not as good as other players to do it) bonus if you self buff. 2, since BB removed weapons from the game and I do also believe that move hurt them. Now they have a chance to bring it back to some degree. They could have a weapon drop for those on PA. Sure the non PA players will gripe, but no more then all players gripe now with not having it all together, right? It doesn't have to be a huge amount like it was before. But enough that it can help ease the slow chains at making the weapons we need to run adventures. Taking a year to save up enough cannons to run just a single FT is the most stupid thing I've heard of as a great game development!!!!! There are many other aspects to the PA that can be done to make players want to buy it. Which in the end is what BB wants.
8. Stacking things in the star menu. This is something that has been repeatedly brought up by players. How BB can not see that as a good game improvement to satisfy it's community is beyond me. Why they would sit on such an improvement ability makes no marketable sense.
9. Better feed back from BB on the forums about improvements they are considering. An open dialog with the players that play the game can be helpful and less stressful for all I would think. It never goes across well when the majority of those affected by changes voice their concerns and BB says they are listening than release the very thing players were voicing their dislike for.
Hear, hear, TLC1!
