Pretty water castle. If it had pop and you could improve the iron economy without me having to search for iron mines 24/7 I would be willing to do more pvp, but currently I can't keep up with one industrial mine and all mines buffed. They just run out to fast. And no, I won't buy iron deposits for several mines, one is enough to maintain.
Looks like a lot of work going into developing expeditions; at the expense of adventures/coops and the like. Since all but the major gem purchasers and TO cartel will not be able to 'afford' keeping troops available (and replaced as needed) for both expeditions and adventures, my question is this:
What is BB's future plans with regards to adventures?
It appears by loot nerfing the adventures and obviously lots of development time into expeditions (and none into adventures) that adventures may be getting exited. I would think that it would benefit BB and players alike if there was communication in this respect. It would allow players to adapt and focus energies (and game resources) appropriately and/or allow players to move on. The gray area, I believe, is very annoying and makes it tough to know what one should do in regards to working on your island or spending gems on. Thank you for your consideration.
wow, top 10 rankings for pvp....now you just need to find 10 players willing to......nvm
Great update! 1 suggestion though, go back and redesign pvp, so its actually fun and includes player vs player fighting. fighting other peoples preset camps while they are not present is the most boring form of pvp I can think of.
Why in the world make the water castle purely decorative? At least make it worth something, population, storage, buckets of water...
As to all the other changes, I hate to sound negative, but ... huh? I didn't read a single thing in there that would entice me to continue my 'PvP' experience. It seems BB is just reinforcing all the things nobody was interested about in the first place. I was thinking 'awesome' water castle, well that could be interesting, then I got to that 'purely decorative' part and just laughed.
Here I go, thinking again... ;)
I am curious after perusing the various threads throughout this (TSO) forum and it occurred to me that there seems to be little (if any) player input/play-testing of the alpha portion of this game. So, we have either a small population of players providing feedback for the future of TSO (and clearly they do not have the same tastes that a large portion of existing players have), or game design and playability entirely within the realm of BB and the player satisfaction is secondary to anything else.
Water castle=purely decorative? Come on..make it a huge population building.
imagine what they could have done with the game we want instead of all the time they wasted on the game they want...this has got to be the stupidest marketing department i have ever come in contact with: ignore your customers - make something no one wants or will use - wonder why it didn't work.
pvp too costly so won't be pursuing it much - and I buy some gems, but not interested in using them to buy iron....
I'm looking forward to seeing how this all works out since I've enjoyed doing expeditions from the start. Obviously it appears I'm in a minority, but oh well...... Thanks for coming up with new content and best of luck.
I don't do pvp. I have been told it's a major drain on resources with not enough payback to make it worth while. Until that changes (and I'm lvl 50), I have no interest. I might do it some day when I'm bored just to say I tried it but it doesn't 'draw' me. I would love a couple of new Epic adventures, though. And to upgrade the game yearly to put in 10 new levels, plus one new FT adventure per year minimum. And island expansion, and up-leveling the island (maybe build a sky colony or a neighbouring island colony requiring boats and travel time similar to adventures....and up-leveling generals...and super powers on generalss, or buffs that super-power generals. And a buff that could speed up a general...not much ;P People who play this game have a god complex and want to control their space. Give us more space and we'll keep playing and paying (gasp, did I say that?) Yes, paying.

well good thing I read the forum post first, at least I won't get one and have sitting in my star with the other worthless deco from events like the golem or the EOTW trophy. reaching lvl 2 should be out of my reach I've tried this new adventure system and really really really don't like it at all!!!!!
We have added a few new adventures to the game with the March 10th update.
If we have anything interesting to say about any new adventures, we will let you know in the forums.
The Water Castle doesn't use island space and yes, is purely decorative. How would you feel if the castle would give additional advantages to players who are already able to play multiple expeditions/colonies per week (and most likely high ranked players)?
We use the test server to gather feedback about new features and updates. We also publish Sneak Peaks every few months. Keep in mind that we have multiple instances of the game, US is not the only server, and the opinion of players varies greatly from instance to instance.
We have reduced the cost of PvP weapons in March. Most weapons require 5-6x less Iron to be produced.
Thanks everyone for your feedback.
If you have any suggestions that would actually solve some of the problems you are mentioning, please contact me and we will discuss that.
Cordially,

Why are people complaining about pvp?
-> please stay away from my granite and titanium ore colony and stick to regular adventures.
I think the vast majority of your player base subscribes to the 'effort vs reward' model. In fact, that's been one of the overriding complaints about 'PvP' on the boards, is the lack of substantive reward for the effort. Having the water castle provide one bucket of water per level or 20 pop per level would hardly be a 'OMG so unfair!" moment for anybody, while at least providing a smidgeon of acknowledgement to the players who consistently wade in to your new combat system.
I agree. If they put tons of time and resources into it, they earned those advantages. It's basically like the Easter Basket.
Also if the experience only grows on player-owned islands, then what do you now get taking over non-owned islands?
I still believe a second combat armory and second combat academy as rewards are a bad idea. It would be much nicer if instead they were upgradeable when you reach a certain PVP level. The set up is kind of there with the Easter Basket residence already.
One reason PvP is fun is you have to figure it out yourself. Rote guides do not work. As for the expense, well that is what a growing economy is for.
Would like to know if you get credit for expeditions played before the new system?
Oh well, no water castle in my future, don't like PvP and it's too costly. :(
I haven't spent much time on PvP so can't really comment on it. But I loved most of LadySettler's ideas and hope that they will be directed to the team working on the non-PvP side of the game.

My main issue with PvP is there is no randomness to it unless I fail to switch troops properly during a fight. I will admit, with good guides like Evil's, there is not a lot of randomness to some adventures, but trying to do them faster using MMA v Major, multiple MMA's, etc or more efficiently (I have three MMA, where is he best 1R sac?) does provide some interest. PvP doesn't have it, with four tavern pvp generals, I have generals that fight the same, troops that always achieve the same result, etc. It's almost like pathing to limit the number of fights and hoping I don't screw up or lag a troop swtich during battle is the only challenge.
I also don't log in often enough or always remember to collect resources from my pvp colonies, so I end up losing the production from them. If production automatically came in every 6 hours that would make it much more likely for me to get a positive return from my colonies - wasn't that a primary reason for colonies in the real world, natural resources?
And last, to search for a colony you have to have at least one explorer available. I've been sending mine out looking for scenarios (only found two in hundreds of searches, that's another issue), which means the one or two times I thought to try a colony recently, I HAD NO EXPLORERS AVAILABLE. So while I have the pop space and resources to maintain two separate armies, I have to choose to not send explorers out if I later plan to search for a colony. So the bottleneck for me isn't resources, it's the inability to finish an adventure and try a colony while my gens travel home, because there are no available exploders...
Anyway, my thoughts to improve:
1) The Conquistador - a premium pvp gen that automatically selects the best troop matchup if you have troops of that type under his command. no manual switching required. Maybe fights faster too to improve blocking opportunities.
2) Auto-Colony Shipments - every 12 hours, my resources are automatically sent home. (I would say 6, but let's give more active players some advantage, as they can collect resources every 6 while lazy jerks like me only get them automatically every 12)
3) The Guide - an explorer that can only search for colonies and recovers twice as fast as a normal explorer, make him an event explorer so I don't have to ante up gems to run more pvp. Maybe he also finds better colonies more often or something...
Anyway, trying to give constructive feedback here, I'm clearly not an active pvp'er but have run some pvp so I know what my frustrations were.
and point of the castle is??? would be nice if it held some pop, i think I would be more motivated to try to get it to next level....
It took me 4 try's to win a colony. One bad decision and it's over. I don't like it. If I screw up in an adventure I can fix it. You screw up a colony you have to quit. How about making the water castle pvp population only. How about star coins after reaching level 30 and an assassin and arrows for pvp. How about some guild play or tournaments.

I am gonna give it a try and use up these troops just to have the new Castle for something to aim for. then will likely never do the expeditions again. I still prefer the old adventures.
The building is amazing, kudos to the designer.
The fact that it's a decorative non-functional memorial is less than spectacular.
15 levels huh, what a coincidence.
As someone that's played around with this a little after turning lvl 50, I really did not see a good use for heavy units. With how quickly the battles play out, you end up losing most to all of your blockers before your attackers finish off the main target.
Blocking is a different concept than what we're used to in adventure blocking, yet very similar to doing a 1R block. You use as few heavy units as possible to enable your main attacker to get by and attack a leader camp. Then hit the blocking marshal with a medipac made in PH.
My first few times playing I tried to get the block to outlast the main battle and all I got was frustration and heavy losses. You don't need a lot of heavy units for blocking TSO style, but in the long run they end up saving you considerable troops/resources. It's going to cost anywhere from the mid 40's to the low 70's in attack troops to take out a camp that stands between you and the leader camp. Depends on tier level and what size island it is. A block is going to use, at the most, 20 heavy troops, with a weapons cost that's half that of attack troops. Big savings. Maybe huge even.
I think the TSO splash screen should add the water castle is 'purely decorative' to its teaser about the water castle.
Why can't we simply have a non-anonymous, true PvP? Since the TSO version of PvP was initially introduced the overwhelming input from the players has been that it's not true PvP. I have no idea why BB asks us for input and then fails to utilize that input to their own benefit...Happy customers spend money on the product that they want guys! I understand that some folks are concerned that a true PvP aspect of the game would make TSO too competitive but those folks don't have to participate in PvP, that simple. Most of the people with that concern probably don't play the current version of PvP anyway.
Good question and one that I have wondered myself from time to time. However, taking all things in consideration, I suspect that our servers, and possibly others have shown a vehement dislike toward the application of Expeditions into TSO, there must be more to this picture - likely, there is one or more servers that LIKE this PvE system. BB/Ubi are in this to make money, and surely they would not pursue this course if people everywhere disliked it like most of us on the Zeus/Ares servers. I am guessing that some of the players on the other servers must be eating this stuff up and/or spending gems like crazy.
So, it would appear that in the scope of TSO worldwide, we may be the minority?! No telling for sure; perhaps BB is stuck with their investment now and don't want to budge?
In any case, I see no excitement or reward for working the Expeditions. I spent enough time with them on the test server; the combat is interesting and different. As Perwyn already mentioned earlier, blocking is essentially a series of '1R' blocks in Adventures. Reduce troop losses. The fact that the rewards are low and that it does not have a PvP feel to it, I'll stick to adventures. If I knew the player I was going to be taking the island from, I would probably jump in with both feet. But I do not see that happening.
Yes, the Scenarios. I mentioned in another post, and commend them as being great alternatives to adventures every once in a while. I like them, and I really like the implementation of hard-to-attain achievements. Players cannot just get all the Scenarios achievement points in 3-4 weeks and be done. :D
That being said, my point was toward the adventures and coop adventures. The only thing that has been done with/to them in the last 9 months is the nerfing of their loot, which is not conducive to attracting the average player to run them.
Thanks for the reply.
If not the minority maybe somewhere around a 50/50 split? As I've said before, I enjoy expeditions. I have friends and guildmates who also enjoy them. So it's not unreasonable to think there's other people who do but just keep quiet about it. And maybe BB is counting on attrition to take care of "the problem". Over time more people will be accepting of expeditions because they've always been there, and these same people were never part of a group that was waiting for/expecting something else entirely and never got it. No telling, but you're quite right, we don't see the whole picture and what we do see is certainly not from BB's vantage point or perspective.
As far as the rewards being low...... I dunno. 163 titanium ore every 6 hours for 7 days is 4,564 ore. How much does a BK payout? Yep, I could lose my island before the 7 days is up, but that doesn't always happen, so it works out for me. Your mileage may vary, but I'm ok with it as it is.
I've never played a PVP game before, never had a desire, so in regards to jumping in with both feet if you knew who you were taking the island from....... why is that important? I'm curious and want to understand the thinking. To me it seems like it could morph into a revenge thing, or a "I don't like what you said in the forum so imma gonna kick yer a##"" kinda thing. I mean is that the motivation or is it something else entirely that I'm just not seeing? I truly do want to understand this, not sit in judgement of it, cause the anonymous part really bugs some people and I don't get why it should be a problem. I mean, Vikings just kinda randomly showed up a lot of the time in the early days of their raiding parties, it didn't matter to them, it was fun and loot and got them out of the house for a while.
I doubt that on our servers (Zeus/Ares) the numbers are even close to 50/50 that actually enjoy them. Just a rough guess based on the guild, global chat and friends, it is EASY to say that 33% have never even played them on a live server or have run 1-2 just to check them out and will not be doing so again. Yes, we do have 20-25% that are (Reluctantly) going to take them on just for the achievements. I am happy that you enjoy them, really. I am not trying to take anything away from anyone else; though that does not mean I have to eat pudding.
Well, now, without taking into consideration resources lost?! Pretty sure you are going to lose a lot more than the recruits only I lose on the BK, so assuming you are fortunate enough to not lose your island, yeah TO wise, you might come up, a little. I note that you used tore as an example, the smallest of the loots, remember 25% of each type (Granny, salt, tore and logs) for BK, and granny/logsprovide a lot (1200/950), and if on premo all this and not counting the other resources/fills... Also consider, IF people really do start getting interested and playing it, your chances of holding those islands will go down.
lol! :D I suppose it is a competition thing, and yes, revenge/retaliation is part of the game. Yes, there are some fools who would let a global chat thing motivate them, but for the most part it is nice (and fairly reasonable) to know who you are pillaging (and who now may come pillaging your isle). Based on the current system, you may not even get the people you want to retaliate on in the search list; your intended target may also not be holding an island with the resources you desire, so unless you're a foolish player, rage assaults would be costly.
In any case, I am just tossing in my 2¢. It is good to see some folks are liking the expedition package; it would not be in my best interest to want to see TSO fail! I like it, and feel I have a vested interest. Where the game goes from here, we shall see. If they are intending to 'attrition' out the people who do not like the expeditions, then that is that and we go from there and an ultimate decision that is not mine to make.
Happy adventuring. :titaniumore::titaniumore:
