But since you get to enter in the amount you want to "apply" to your MH, doesn't that eliminate the need for multiple small stacks? If you only want to apply 1000 of your 1000000 settlers stacked in star, you can.

IF they roll out this feature with the choice of amount - yes -- but they stated deposits (as far as i remember) (for that choice of volume) - the mayor's house is not a deposit.
From the Sneak Peek post:
As currently implemented on the test server:Quote:
Is it still possible to only sell/use one item?
When you use a stack of resources, you have an option to tell the game how many items of the stack you want to use
(e.g. deposit refillers, applying resources to Mayor's House).

So that's how it looks like it will work.

I understand what you are saying. I think that stacking items should be optional, configured in game options. A menu item like "Star Menu Stacks", with a submenu with checkboxes for Buffs, Resources, etc. Too many things aren't configurable. For example, most of the time I find the message that comes with addition of the PVP weapons to the storehouse annoying, but I can see where at certain times, you'd want to be alerted to that progress. Come to think of it, all of those little messages should be user configurable. So should mail alerts to certain events, like "Your General won the battle". Most of the time, we already know that.
The stack totals that were added to the barracks and provision house are great, but why aren't they in the Combat Armory, where they are really needed?
Much thanks to Eirond for clearing that up. I think that will work fine. I looked at the sneak peek when they only mentioned it with regards to putting stuff on TO. This new information is a great deal of help. Looking forward to the stacking features.
One test, when I selected an item from the menu to deposit, the system queried me for an amount to enter. Is this different for settlers?? I had not tested them specifically..?
One thing that I discovered on test: If I deplete my star's amount on my island (e.g. I use an entire amount of a buff on a fish deposit), I still have to click on the X button at the bottom of the screen once the buff has been applied on the island. There isn't any more of that fish buff, why doesn't the game just apply the whole thing as requested without me needing to click on another button to cancel the process (like it does when I've built a single building in the current system or applied a single buff). Just my 2 cents.
I must say- I am pleased with the consolidated resources and buffs stacking. It's a lot better now. Less tedious to move things to manor.
STACKED HORSEMAN STATUES.
that is all.
I dont like it very much...
If i make 5 stacks of lets say fish refills, its because i want 5 stacks of them...NOT 1 !!! duh
Its backstriving cause it takes me longer to refill, since i have to wait between every single refill (the refill turns gray until it pops up in the News Before i can refill the next one and so on)...
also annoying when i get rewards from quests or whatever and have to drag the bar up on each and every single thing i have in star meny to put in Mayors, and i can see already that the bar will get stuck at almost full sometimes (cause **** happens), leaving lets say 2 fish refills in star. meaning i have to add those 2 again by dragging this bar...
All of this is like going back in time to something worse = new is not Always better.
If you made it so that the bar is set to full instead of 0 as default, that would atleast be a Little better
Would be nice if adventures stacked too...
found a new bug in the stacking... or maybe its a feature - who knows...
it stacks retired settlers Differently than peeps you get as loot... perhaps a side effect of using the name as the stack option. bet it would stack travelling settlers in a 3rd pile ;)

Yup, you can have 4 different stacks of people. This is mentioned in the change log.
