I'll trade you a gingerbread house for a Hospitable Bone Church.
Will the regular adventures still have presents as loot like previous events?
Respectfully,
MM3Lee (Ares)
I guess the gingerbread house is better than a witch tower at least. Frozen manor would have been better. Or another Easter basket.
I never cared enough to bother with the regular quartermaster, but I can make some use of Santa. One more general to fill up my star/island.
Huge jump in the cost of grout, but I imagine there will still be plenty of time to stock up anyway.
More deerstalkers and recyclers are always welcome. Now I should have enough meat to get steaks.
Forest offerings would be good... as a 24 hour buff.
Improved watermills are nice. I got rid of my old ones, which the 3 improved ones are enough to replace on a much smaller footprint.
00:45 GMT, got a fancy xmas loading screen, and thats it lol
The event is not working for several of us in my guild. Have tried logging out, clearing the cache, restarting the computer, using a different browser - it just is not working. I cannot open the calendar and there are no quests. There are many reports of this problem in Global & Help chats. Why is the event working for some people and not others? And what will be done to compensate those of us who through no fault of our own are left out?
Christmas event has not started for me, even though my guildmates have their Advent calendar and their Provision Houses have the Event tab.
Not working for me as well. Have the Calendar, but can't open the first door. Also, no Christmas Tree in center of island. Some others in my Guild have the same problem.
I didn't even notice the time of the event start. I just assumed tomorrow morning. But all I got is some Christmas loading graphics.
I praise BB for not starting the event for all players, just a few. Goof job, again! (and that's not a typo)
Way to go, BB. The event has already started for some people and they are already completing quests. Can we presume that the event will end early for them as well? Otherwise, it's not quite fair.
Er, ok.... I got some christmas stuff but couldn't open the door, refreshed and no christmas event stuff at all, no christmas section of the chest; however, bunch of others happily doing christmas stuff. What gives? Is it just skipping me this year or something?
Looks like the Christmas event has fully started for some people, and partially starts for others if they visit an adventure zone and then return to their island. (Count me in the latter camp.) Way to go BB. This is probably one of the bigger event fails. People are already selling presents in TO and half of us (at least) have no event yet.
I have visited an Adventure Zone, as well as a Guildmate's island, and it has still not started for me. Calendar which cannot be opened. No Christmas quest. So, that "fix" does not work for everyone.
If I visit an adventure zone, the shop and calendar show up for me, but I can't collect the calendar gift and buys from the shop don't complete. And yet people already have quests and are selling presents in the TO. So wrong.
All I've seen of the Christmas event so far is the loading screen lol... I can't even see the presents being sold in the TO. Not that I'm surprised by things being broken, but this is a nice mess of an event start... Why didn't they just wait until maintenance to keep things simple?
Log out for 30 mins and then all should be fine, worked for me on Northisle. It was already live when I logged in here.
Hmm... go to someone else's island and come back... the christmas area of the chest is back, the calendar shows (inoperable) and no quests...
Reload the game and, you guessed it: christmas event not active
I must say that I'm kinda stunned how an event of this nature can be so screwed up. Has BB said anything about this or are they just hoping it goes away if they ignore it?
Is the Quartermaster Claus only for PVP, like others on that time frame, or is he a refugee to the regular General force, on a PVP time frame?
Would like to know before buying. A tagger elf general with small troop number and 2 min arrival would have been a useful item....
9 collectibles on my first drop, including 1 single bell collectible with 2 bells. This will not end well. I'm going to be on this one quest for the entire event. I was happy with the way things were before they were fixed. At least then some drops would go on the archipelago.
Hello,
Thank you for the comments, everyone!
The game will be updated tomorrow, the collectibles on the island archipelago will be improved for several players.
Please check the homepage for more info.

The collectibles that spawn on the island every twelve hours or so... Are they supposed to include regular items as well as Christmas items?
Also -
I completed "Getting Into the Christmas Spirit" as soon as I clicked on the first Advent door. Now it has come up as a "to do" item in my Quest Chain. Where in the heck do I get another one? Is this a glitch?
Also - my second door won't open, even though it says 15 and today is the 15th...
Not sure how I feel about the surprise boxes. Got a few of them, and this is what I got:
2 deco packs
1 improved water mill
4 angel statues
2 Pavilions
1 White Castle
1 Fish Farm
1 Arctic Mine
3 Raving Rabids
1 improved Silo
Probably a wash overall. There were 5 drops of 16 of what I would consider desirable items (Improved Water Mill, White Castle, Fish Farm, Mine, Improved Silo) and the gem cost of these is probably about what is spent on those items. I would not include the gem cost of the other items, as I would not purchase them myself.
I got to start early and fully. My most recent drop was 24. I found most of them so far, but I only found 1 of each Christmas collectible during that time.
I just noticed that when I completed an achievement {find 400 presents with explorer} it gave me the presents rewards... then took them back.
Ok Guys, Ive been playing this game for a long time, this is my 4th Christmas Event now. A couple of things that really frustrate me and FUBAR for me the game when you think of the Spirit of the Season.
The Christmas Surprise package. 1) 350 gems... Really, they started out at 95 gems. Then Doubled and now 3.5 x what they started out at? 2) You made them so you can not gift your friends/guild mates with them. WHY? The first year it was so awesome because EVERYONE was gifting each other during the Event. A great spirit of giving with joy and fun for all. Now we cant even do that with the elevated prices. And yes, for all those who dont remember or where not playing then, Frozen Manners and Pirate residences were available in the first boxes, packages.
Im very disappointed that the BB has changed this part of the event. Took a lot of the fun and friendship parts out of it. 95 gems was fun because everyone could afford at least 4. All they had to do was login daily... Even the 190 gems wasnt bad... on the outside it looks greedy....
Springer Prime
i finished the FIRST event adventure. It gave me stuff for doing it. (presents and experience)
It did not clear out of my quest book
It wont cancel
it wont let me buy it (not in merchant)
Support asked me to take a screenshot of the issue...REALLY? a picture of what?
19th Door won't open. It lists some items in the box on the right. Do I need to have those items to open it, or are those the items I'm supposed to receive if I click the door?
The door for the 19th opens at midnight GMT tonight (7pm eastern in the US). Yes, it's weird, because that's actually the 20th GMT, but that's how it is.
When it opens, you can click it, and you will need to select (from the items on the right) which one of those you want to receive.
I must really be missing something crucial because I am not finding this event all that rewarding, especially since the goals are all but impossible. 6 days in and I can't even get a single one of my 3 explorers to bring back 1 gift, how are we supposed to meat the goals at that rate? The drop rate of event resources are not sufficient to produce enough presents to meat the achievements either. All in all, I am a bit disappointed. Hopefully it will get more interesting over time. :(
Events will always be hard for new players. Even say you dont get anything from the event shop (which is unlikely) make sure to stay ontop of the calendar doors- there are some very good rewards coming- Floating Rezzes or Village schools are really good and alot of other free stuff.
For new players i would suggest to aim for the Rarity Provision house (feast and steak recipes) then the recyclers. Avoid the unlimited/tradable items like the Deerstalkers and Improved Watermills and especially the artic mines. Another thing you can do is advertise to sell the Deerstalkers and Improved Watermills in the event shop and charge extra presents for them which will give you a bit of help to hopefully reach your goal of Rarity PH by the end of event. And the event just pretty much started, give it another week and present prices will drop a bit. Idk what level you are but for me personally- i find presents on the very long searches about 80% of the time, if not more.
the only problem that i have is the spawn rate of the gingerbread and the candy canes, i am getting all kinds of bells, there is no way to make any amount of presents that would matter or help, and the trade is no good, to much greed.
these types of events that allow explorers to find event items shows the biggest affect in difference between pay to play player and or players who have been playing for 3+ years and non paying players and or newer players. ppl i know with 21 explorers finished buying what they wanted (besides grout) days ago.
besides just stating that fact^ i suggest people who arent pixel rich and willing to pay the outlandish prices for event items, just be patient- this is still the 1st week, give it another week or so and the prices will go down quite a bit. Like i said earlier i suggest to make limited items your priority- RPH, recipes, Recyclers, santa general. Grout, Deerstalks, ImpWatermills etc- are all tradable (meaning you can buy them at a later date with resources) the RPH, recyclers and santa general should be your main focus (imo)
