What is bottled innocence?
What does "UI: Guild quest progress is no longer displayed in the Quest Book Adventure window." mean?
Does this {UI: It is now possible to visit a started adventure from the PvP Defense Mode} mean we get to watch people destroy our puny defenses now?
"Adventure: Camps in More Secluded Experiments have been rearranged for extra challenge."
What.. Never ever had a chance to play this adv (so hard to get), and you already made it more challenging, turning all current guides (for this adv) to dust once again.
Did BB feel like players were still getting nukes too easy? I really hope not.
If the reason for the previous change was accumulating map errors; and future unannounced features (whatever that means) and the proposed solution is to have a free move day; it still begs the question of exactly how many building spaces we have lost and where are they located...?
See: [ http://forum.thesettlersonline.net/t...t-usable-space) ]
Please give us an option to free move to a clean map without errors with at least the same amount of building spaces available.
How about making this available to anyone for a reasonable amount of time like several days to week or more to accommodate work schedules, etc. and not limiting it to a specific calendar time so that an inactive player returning to the game will not miss out on the error free map or free move opportunity?
Perhaps you could also highlight the problems on the old map so that we do not duplicate tactical errors on the new map...?
Absent something like this please at least provide a temporary island to move buildings to while we rearrange our home islands.
People with full home islands and/or substantial investments in upgrades like level 6 storehouses (that normally cannot be moved -- please make them movable) will be reluctant to do anything without a clear solution that demonstrably does not make things worse...
Destroying a bunch of level 6 buildings and/or storehouses to eliminate map errors that are no fault of our own is unacceptable!
Bottom line is that we all need: error free maps, equal number of building spaces, and BB to stop making things worse by not testing the full impacts of their Game Updates before implementation...
So in one week, instead of having like 10 total players actually playing Secluded Experiments, now we will officially have No players ever playing the map. Can we change a couple of high level quests to reflect the fact that no one will be touching that map with a 10 ft pole?
Also, will this render Nords as worthless as about 90% of the other maps now? I need to know for trading purposes.
I agree with Pteris, make all storehouses movable!!
screwing up guides again, thanksQuote:
Adventure: Defence areas are removed for boss camps on The Nords, Invasion of the Nords, Surprise Attacks and Arctic Explosion.
Adventure: Camps in More Secluded Experiments have been rearranged for extra challenge.
why bother changing whats not broken, instead of fixing what is? some things are not for out understandment
As far as "Adventure: Camps in More Secluded Experiments have been rearranged for extra challenge."
Really? This is what the developers are spending their time on?
DO they even realize that Secluded Experiments (SE) drop rate for More Secluded Experiments (MSE) adventure is 1.5%?
That means you are more likely to get an Angel Gate which has a drop rate of 2%!
Of all the things that are desperately needed to improve this game were going to see MSE made harder first! Absolutely incredible... Astounding in fact! LOL
Adventure: Defence areas are removed for boss camps on The Nords, Invasion of the Nords, Surprise Attacks and Arctic Explosion.
Adventure: Camps in More Secluded Experiments have been rearranged for extra challenge.
Like others mentioned, this is also a big change... Really.. This was a special about Nords and all above similar adventures..
Its feels like changing their core and differentiating feature...
Why? Because some players may have 5 MMAs, and they come up with more efficient ways to play these adventures?
That is sad.. Almost as if, players should not publically share their good findings.. because once BB learns of them, they'd go to any extreme to make sure it is short lived and completely ruined in the process.
Instead of messing around with existing adventures that are working (if it works don't fix it) why not just come up with some new ones in those same difficulty ranges?
I agree with Alice, it's so very sad that every time somebody finds something that makes completing an adventure easy and shares it on the forums, BB pounces and has to change it. Or in the case of Island of the Pirates make it very hard to get anymore. Who's getting hurt by someone being able to easily complete an adventure anyway? What revenues are lost? What advantage is gained over other players in a game where you're not playing against other players in the first place?
In the case of being able to use a few nukes to finish DB and get a witch tower, well OK, I can see that. But then again, there should be somebody on BB's staff who's job it is to play the game all day and go "what happens if I do this?" It's called testing. (Please don't get me started about the test server!)
I've known coders in my past professional life who wrote a bunch of code, fired it up and if it didn't crash figured it worked. Then they'd take it live and cause an abysmal mess and someone, usually me, would have to come in behind it, clean up the mess, and fix the bad code. This seems to be how BB has operated for years now. Where I worked, we documented all these occurrences and honed our staff down to people who actually were competent at their jobs. End of problems or at least a major reduction in ones that are preventable by good programming methods and habits, which includes extensive testing prior to release.
I've got to give credit where credit's due and say I was pleasantly surprised when the expansion upgrade went as smoothly as it did. I was bracing myself for a wild ride with that one, and it went very well overall. It's the small stuff that is wearing people down around here. And the small stuff is easily minimized by <1>giving it the same "weight" as the big stuff, <2>by using proper testing methods and <3> by not fixing what isn't broken. ~Finis~
Adventure: Defence areas are removed for boss camps on The Nords, Invasion of the Nords, Surprise Attacks and Arctic Explosion.
Vikings are aggressive and they don't let anyone waltz across their camps, leaders included. Please put back the defence areas of boss camps.
My advice is to play all the Black Knights you can now before they inevitably nerf it to be as completely worthless as the other epics.
It seems to me that there has been a marked decrease in the amount of and number of participants in these Forum discussions... Is it that people just don't care, feel that their input is ignored, have observed that information sharing is being utilized for nefarious purposes by BB, all of the above; or perhaps something else?
At any rate I personally feel that it's a shame when anyone in our community feels like they cannot have open discussions for fear of censorship (including self-censorship), or misappropriation of their information and ideas. Such an environment is liable to "kill the goose that lays the golden eggs!"
And I, for one, am growing increasing unhappy with: the way things seem to be turning out for all of the above posts and excellent reasons given; with the impacts on lower level players; with an arcane support system that automatically assumes problems are fixed; with the lack of direct in-game two-way support communications; and with the lack of proper testing of Game Updates that introduce even more bugs for all of us to suffer with!
If BB continues to discourage new players; continues to increase the burden on a player's ability to level; and spoils the chances of actually having fun playing this game including all of the content like adventures, expeditions, scenarios, etc. -- the end result will be an inescapable and foregone conclusion towards a self-fulfilling prophesy of deliberate sabotage...
P.S. Whoever designed Treasure of Knowledge (ToK) adventure should be locked in a room and forced to complete 1,000 of them before letting them out or anywhere near the design platform again! Please do not spoil enjoyable aspects of game content in a similar fashion (there is a real difference between challenging and suffering through) with the next Game Updates...
Maybe it's because the game has been continually dumbed down so much over the years most new players juss cain't reed noh moe.
LOL.... I've always secretly hoped there was a special "hell" for bad programmers much as you describe.
Consider ToK and it's mandatory use of 'Hulk Smash' troop losses is akin to the BB scheme with Expeditions (sorry, I will never call a pseudo PvE game PvP - see War Commander or Evony as crummy as they are, they are PvP - we do not even have any evidence that we are in fact attacking other players when we do 'vs. Player' Expedetions). BB seems to want players to exhaust resources in a BIG way, so since instead of making fun, strategic aspects to adventures, they take the easy way out, throw in a bunch of new camps with powerful enemies, giving as many of them as possible splash damage (like ALL AB troops seem to have this skil). Looks like this is the direction.
Yeah, with both expeditions and Ali Baba, the design element that stands out is the use of bottlenecks to act as governors and slow down play. The strategies that have to be employed in this regard are not "how do I win this battle" but rather, "how do I budget my troops and resources to be able to run at least one Ali Baba a day".
What really hits me about the elite troops and resources (and I find it sadly hilarious) is that now that we only need one weapon per troop we're getting resource drops (platinum ore) in the tens of thousands per adventure. I'm constantly deleting the overages from my star menu cause what am I supposed to do with 660,000 platinum ore plus another 90,000 in my star menu? I don't know who figures this stuff out, but I think they need new batteries for their calculator.
Lemme see if I can think of anything else to veer even further off topic here.......nope, guess that's it.
I will be happy to take any items off your hands that are taking up too much room. :)
Same here... because now that Perwyn has mentioned the extra ore.. I am sure BB will one day make it a rare drop, and players like Perwyn will be one of few who will have plenty to even sell it on TO at premium.. I don't mind any of that, as long as the spare one you are deleting, you can send a small portion of it my way :D
Else, as easy as it might be to get the ore, Please don't suggest even remotely indirectly, to make the game even harder.. Otherwise, i'd very much hate not getting to level 56+ soon enough.. and might even quit despite the $s I already invested in the game.
Hmmm....... given the things that we've been talking about over the past couple weeks, maybe I shouldn't have typed that!!! But then again:
YWC 8,000 platinum ore
2nd Thief 6,000 po
3rd thief 8,000 po
ToW 16,000 po
Oil Lamp 20,000 po
Princess 50,000 po
See what I mean? The amounts are so excessive. I guess they're meant to cover the losses for someone who has no idea how to run an adventure, never uses buffs on their production chains and uses skunk buffs on their barracks 24/7.
You simply can't push that much platinum ore (in the form of swords) thru the barracks even running it 24/7 with skunk buffs due to the slow speed of the barracks. And if you're making troops in the ratios needed for these adventures, not all swordsmen, cause they're not the equivalent of recruits, then the need drops further. So who did the math on this? Did they just throw up their hands and say "Aw #$@% it!! Make it huge!"??
I appreciate that they didn't want anybody to run short of ore. Sincerely I do. But I don't run these adventures nearly as hard as some of my friends, I have 650,000 storage and it still continually overflows into star menu when I accept my loot.
Apologies to everyone in advance if BB one day cuts the platinum ore drops severely because of this post. But hey!!! Nothing I'm saying makes these adventures any easier to run lol!!
And Alice...... check your mail.
First, I've said this on the test server forums, but I want to say it again here. The amount of space lost in the map change is just unacceptable. I've tested the 'fixed' version on the test server and I am still out ~8 spots for MagRes that should fit. Meaning that I can place 4-6 Nobles in the same space, but I can't place the MagRes. With the Elite troop requirements it just makes keep up 2 armies (or 3 if you pvp) far harder than I think they intend. With the recruitment times on Elites switching between Regular Troops and Elite Troops can take a week of nothing. That just makes the game so boring.
I really hope that this is just a band-aid temporary solution while the map is actually fixed so that buildings, namely MagRes, fit where they should and use to fit. And I hope that a real fix is deployed this summer and not next year or some crazy amount of time.
The map change is the single most frustrating change in the game since I've been playing.
Second, I agree with many people, |sarcasm| it's nice to see that BB is fixing things that no one asked for |sarcasm|. Here's a great list of things many players would like http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/t...Needful-Things. So many great suggestions that would make the game significantly more enjoyable to play.
That's my 0.02

"2 shay"
So can anyone let me tag along for a single Secluded Experiments so I can finish a quest? You can have pretty much all of the experience. I can just kill a single camp at the beginning. The adventure is way too long for me, and the one time I tried it, I immediately quit it after failing an attack because it wouldn't have gotten me the quest.
Update delayed? So will it occur next week then?
So these changes they are making on adventures is because of so many MMA's some players have?
So for the few players that have 5 MMA's which is what, 1% of the Settler's population? The other 99% who have less than 5 or none at all are going to be punished for it?
If BB doesn't like how MMS'a have changed existing adventures put a limit on how many MMA's a single player can have, make new adventures that are more challenging for multi MMA's even. If BB hasn't made it so MR can fit in the areas they should be, like other players got they better!
Yet more reasons NOT to buy more gems!
Is BB really trying to make older players leave the game and spend their money elsewhere? Do you really think pushing older players out will solve all your problems in the game that should be fix instead of "fixing" **** that wasn't broken? All BB is doing is getting a bad name because players will give it a bad review if you push them out by making it undesirable to play and more of a headache than it's worth. Players come here to relax and have fun, take that away how do you plan to keep players here funding your game and your job?
funny on how they ask us for feedback on stuff like this but mostly ignore what we tell them.
"Move Building" Event - What's the point of this if we can't move storehouses??? I mean, seriously, all buildings are placed around those key buildings. Also the imp storehouses got some weird spacing now, seems you can place them on 1x1 or trees and collectibles grow inside of those.
I played a game where the runners purposely sabotaged it by creating such overpowered heroes (gotten via spending insane amounts of money of course) that it was effectively almost impossible to compete as a non-paying player. Then just stopped updating it altogether, likely after people wised up and stopped throwing down literally $300 at once. Then one day, they announced the game was closing down. By then, the company had moved all of the devs onto a similar game. That was a true PvP game though.
The blocking of the storehouse moving goes back to when you could destroy the last storehouse in a sector and lose the sector, wiping out all the buildings there. They put in a block to prevent players from doing this and losing a sector's worth of buildings in a single click. If you could move storehouses, it is likely the same could happen if you moved all of them outside of a zone, and it would require another set of checks to prevent the last storehouse from being moved. It is much safer to build new storehouses and demolish the older ones that were placed before understanding the basics of the game. This should have been done before doing expensive upgrades. If the storehouses are in acceptable positions, other buildings can be moved around them easily.
wait wait wait..... ok we are normally required to PAY GEMS to acquire Invasion Of The Nords, ok... the adventure is blanketed in white , which makes it annoying but doable. Before the April 2016 "changes" the landings and movements made this very "expensive" adventure worth the gems, but, now????? $$$$expensive=easier $$cheapandeasytoget=toughen it up. Ya see, these ratios are acceptable. Just adding in my 2 cents, or 5 dimes, or 350 gems. Whatever.
Loving the free move!
Making a big mess. lol
True that! And even more, as far as you advance into the game, for different levels, you have different needs, and you re-arrange stuff as needed.
Well, I've moved a watermill, and I can't move it back because a bush or tree just popped in that place.. was this really planned to remove spaces from island??
I'm not moving anything until it's safe.
