Can you give specifics to what the exact changes are to the interception areas of IOTP??
Changelog says: Intercept areas are changed for the adventure "Sinbad and the Besieged City".
- However, I am unaware of intercepts crossing sector borders in this adventure.
The graphic accompanying the change text is from "Ali Baba and The Treasure of Knowledge"
- This adventure has several intercepts that cross sector borders, but the one pictured is irrelevant. Will the other cross-sector intercepts be dealt with?
Star menu sorting/searching and recyclers. I'm happy with those changes.
Looking forward to being able to pin the star menu. Must admit, am a little nervous about how the sorting is going to work for specialists. On test all of the various specialists we have after playing a few years weren't available for testing. Sorting by name doesn't seem to work for the names we give them so I can't use some clever naming convention to put them in the order I want them to be. Will take some time to get used to/figure out once it goes live. I'm hoping long term it'll be much better than the current star menu. Guess we'll find out soon enough!!
I thought the name sorting worked fine on test. The only item on my wishlist was I wanted it to remember my choice so I didn't have to select sort by name every time.
Yeah, you're right! Had to do a refresh to get it to re-sort. Doh!
Also found out that I can use leading spaces to move someone to the front. Nice, I can keep the names I already have and still sort them.
Was coming back here to edit my original post and take out the name comment but you were too fast for me.
Unsure if it's what I'm thinking about, but let's assume...Quote:

When I did Besieged City, I misread a line and nailed away some 200MM and had to wait cooking new ones, so I strayed off the guide and alternatively cleared what was within my troop count and accessible, going with Evil's guide, I nailed myself on C15 so L9/10 were out of the question until later, so I decided to go for L11/12 and C20/21. So the travelpath would go alone L8, downhill to L11 and the graze the mountain edge with C17's intercept area, however that one wasn't highlighting at all despite traversing some aggro area like in the example above, which will make me want to believe that their intent is to "turn off" all the aggro areas that aren't eligible within the path that is being taken. So in the example above that camp should not even highlight....but the intercept party area with ToK is beyond that corner anyway /facepalm
Okay, I might be nit-picking here, but just wanting to be clear:
"The Forest Trap’s intercept area (“B”) hasn’t worked properly when attacking camp “A” in "The Island of the Pirates"." declares a problem (that I have never seen before, though when I do run this adv, I kill the Forest Trap long before camp A) but not a fix; should we assume it means:
The Forest Trap’s intercept area (“B”) properly works now when attacking camp “A” in "The Island of the Pirates."
Now, I have to run it just to see this... lol
I ran it a few times, sometimes you would get intercepted by "B" and then somehow also get intercepted by "A" and attack "A" first, but not always. No idea what was going on there.
Yeah, had to check it out:
While attacking from Sector 1, if you send to Trap, Camp intercepts; if you send to Camp, Trap intercepts... lol
While attacking from Sector 2, attacks seem to behave properly... :D
This is a new 'feature', though I have not run them much in last 3-4 months, never seen that before. Hilarious how these features just manifest themselves.
Funny, I always ran IOTP with the quick attack guide in the EU Wiki and I could never figure out why it worked. Now I understand... I guess it won't work anymore
are these changes happening without maintenance? there has been no announcement on news page of maint and its only a few hours away from normal time.
There is a maintenance is scheduled for 8/23/2016. The specifics can be found here
I'm used to check news page for maintenance announcements and prepare my island.
So, this will not happen anymore? We will have to check forum now?
Need I point out there will be a MAJOR Update next month in about 4 to 5 weeks when Excelsior will land. Please make an annoucement about this on the Main Page please.
Explorer and Geos with books are all over the place now.
Why did you not use the amount of books as a secondary sort so the NPC with the most books for each class is at the beginning?
Now we have to click on everyone of them when sending out Geos and Explorers trying to find right ones with the right books to do the jobs. Oh and every time you change the sort order and go back to another sort it jumbles them all up by books so they are in different spots :P
For now we can name them so they are a bit easier to find by mousing over them, but it still jumbles them up each time. And even doing this does not help much when you have 20 some Geos and 20 Explorers.
Thanks for the Star Sorting, but this oversight makes it really stink.
ive found that naming the specialists will sort them, that way can put them in the order that you want
sighs, heres some things ive noticed to be annoying
- specialists order is all messed up
- mini quests (pandas, weddings...) are on 1 tab, but the buffs for them are on another, please move the cakes and cages to the misc tab
Yes, the sorting makes not sense in general (pun not intended) - for all tabs less the Specialist Tab. if you select type or name, you get generals (even of different sub-types) mixed in all sorts of order with Marshall's (which I would like a way to delete), geologists and explorers... if you select name, same thing, though sorts on name (if given or defaulting to type name).
In the case of Geologists and Explorers we have them each trained in specific science skills for specific tasks, now these specialists are all scattered so performing tasks that used to be quick, take time to just find the specialist you need for that task. Asking us to re-train our specialists would not be a reasonable response as the cost to do so would be prohibitive to most and repugnant to all.
For all of the tabs aside the Specialist tab, I will easily get used to and adapt. I do not believe that the Specialist Tab is workable in its current form. Though some might be content in naming (renaming all in my case) to accommodate this bizarre sorting algorithm, I think that is ridiculous that an update should result in users having to do such nonsense. This update was supposed to make it easier on the user, and in all tabs but the Specialist, it probably does...
For the specialist tab, optimally, we would have at least two fields to sort order on; one to sort by type (General, Marshal, Geologist, Explorer) then by whatever it is we want after that (Date it appears was the old second sort-order).
Default is not clear what it is sorting for, but for specialists it stinks. Please, Please make an option of 'OLD WAY', whatever that search criteria was.
Thx evil J that helped a lot.
I renamed them again so it forces them to front of list
Well, sorting for the Star Menu is okay for all tabs less the Specialist Tab; I mean seriously messed up in the Specialist Tab; I cannot access any science trained Explorer/Geo I need for specific tasks without running through the entire collage of specialists. This seriously cramps the morning tasks I do.
If you cannot allow at least two sort orders, then PLEASE revert to the old sorting method (or offer as an option) for the Specialist Tab. I don't need/want my generals mixed in with my geos when looking for granite mines, etc...
To me this frustration actually hit me like a pin being stuck in a balloon.. almost all enthusiasm is gone.
Multiple reports of a problem with the Grilled Steak recipe disappearing from the Rarity Provision House have been received. The issue has been referred up and we will keep everyone updated as we are provided with additional information. We are sorry for the inconvenience and hope to have this issue resolved as soon as possible.
missing big cats from buffs
other guildies report their assassins are missing.
sort gen by type is not working (vet, vet, vet, drac, vet ??)
sort adv by type - no change (epic, ft etc should be together).
sort buffs should have more options -- ie by duration, by multiplier..
;)
its a good start (as long as i get my big cat's back)

Wow the constant resorting of the star menu is just crazy. Trying to send out my booked geo's and explorers while skipping the non-booked is such a PIA. At least have them sort by profession and then title.
Searching in star is very welcome though. Still have a lot of great game suggestions in http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/t...Needful-Things
My Geo's are also coming back early from searches w/o completing their task.

You know what would REALLY make this whole sorting thing much better? Keep (Presort) all specialists by their sub types: When selecting Generals, keep all MMA's together, all Veterans together, and etc; when selecting Explorers, keep all Lucky's together, all Experienced together, and etc; same with Geologists: all Jolly's together, and etc...
If this presort was already in place, I think sorting of specialists would be very manageable.
I've separated my specialists into sub groups by using special characters in front of their names. Using spaces, ", #, ', ., etc will sort them into groups with their names being the secondary sort. To further sort within a group you could do (for example) # followed by a space then a name to put that one in the front of the # grouping. This is holding for me and I'm able to have my scouts in the order I actually want them in. You have to visit a friend or refresh after changing a name for it to have an effect on the sort.
Here's a link to the ascii collating sequence to get an idea of sort orders available. Scroll down to where it says space bar and start from there.

Thanks. I used to program for a living, so ASCII is more or less a third language. That is potential short-term solution, and not preferred in my case as all my specialists already are named! All of them. So, I'm not inclined to change them.
I think it is incumbent on the developers to not force the user to perform Gerry-rigging in order to get by. I hope to see some improvement to the current sorting algorithm for the Specialists; the balance of the tabs and items is good and workable - just need to get used to slight differences.
On a side note, I do find it interesting that each and every adventure/coop/scenario is date stamped! (Some buffs are as well) So, in a game where space (storage) must be an issue, every adventure has its own information stored for some reason!!! I have 300+ SE alone... lol Kind of curious what information is so valuable that it is stored.
The specialist sorting needs tuning.
"Type" is too high level - military/explorer/geologist division is nice, but there is mostly randomness within each group. Intermixing PvP marshals with adventuring generals is not desirable. And why are my PvP suppliers sandwiched between my fast explorers and my tavern explorers?
"Date" intermixes them by type, and everyone acquires their specialists in a relatively random order, especially when buying event specialists. Useless.
"Amount" is useless since they are all the same.
"Default" is not very good since it is pretty much the same as "Type".
"Name" is the only one that comes even close to being useful. But you can't actually use it unless you name (or rename) every specialist in an alphabetical manner to get them to sort the way you want them. My generals all had nice, historical names that I enjoyed seeing. Now I have to rename them General #01, General #02, General#03 if I want them to sort properly?
The fact is that when a player goes to the specialist tab, they go there for one of four reasons. Adventuring, Expeditioning, Exploring, or Geology. At a minimum, the specialist tab should ALWAYS have a primary sort by those four groupings, as having specialists from different functions intermixed never makes it easier, only harder. Then the "Type" sort could be used to sort within groups by actual type (MG/Vet/BHG, etc).
As it is, I feel like a choir director that has been given the option to organize where each member stands on the stage by height, weight, age, gender, name, or seniority. When what I really want is voice range and solo/chorus distinctions. And asking all my choir members to legally change their name so I can get them to stand properly seems... a bit awkward and unrealistic.
Yeah, I agree that Default should be the exact same order they were in prior to the change. Why it's not makes no sense at all.
Since it's not, I'm just as happy to put them in the order I want them in by tweaking their names a bit. Simon de Montfort was difficult to place exactly where I wanted him, but I managed to get him there.
The sorted specialists are not helpful since they are now randomized from the order they were in before. I had my 5 "trained" geologists at the front of my geologists and now an untrained geologist is 1st and a trained 1 is 2nd... I don't have the time to sort through them all to find what should be right in the order I set my training tomes up in.
Allow me to give feedback to the guys getting payed for this game.... I WILL QUIT PLAYING in anger at this resorted order if you don't fix it. This means the meager money I spend on this game will go with me..... Nevermind I am just quitting and you can go ahead and continue to **** up this game
Specialist Default wasn't too bad for me. I will need to change a few names though. Luckily most of my names are either default names for the largely untrained explorers or a numeral order by type for generals.
I just added 01. in front of majors names, 02. for MMAs, 03. for Veterans and so on.
Same for explorers.
Not very complicated, just a lot of clicks. I like how they are now on star menu... :)
But, please, as Evil J said earlier, can you move the cakes and cages on the same tab with the weddings and pandas? It's a pain to change the tab and search the buff every time...
Thank you
