So, apparently my guildies are up to 4 and 6 runs of the venture that supposed to drop the manuscript blueprint for Rarity Prov House and they both got 0 so far. Both invested some gems to get enough crystals for the pages from the oven and still nothing to show for.
Anybody who already got that blueprint? How many runs did you need to do? Share your experience please. Thanks.

Funny that you should ask... myself, am at close to 15-ish of these 'Reward' boxes, and ZIPPO. At least one other guild-mate is on the same path as I am (10+ fails without success). Interesting to note that we also have at least 2 guild-mates that got their recipe on the first pass. Go figure. Done with all 3 different ventures, does not appear to make a difference.
It almost looks like if you spent any gems to get there, you might be handicapped. (Based solely on personal experience)

Isn't that something? I guess I should be thankful to BB for NOT putting the blueprints to unlock the epic farmyard on RNG base...:)
I'm running YWC to complete my eighth attempt as I type this. A guild-mate got his on the 1st try. A few others are in the same boat as me, try and try again. If the recipe doesn't drop this time, I'll spend gems 1 more time. Told myself I'd limit it to 5 gem runs then go back to waiting for crystals. We'll see what I really do, but this could get expensive fast.

I don't remember exactly how many tries... would have spent 10-12k gems perhaps.. I did get the recipe after many runs of 50 gems...
I actually over spent and have 3 lost compass quests.. because I so much dreaded to do these long letter quests one by one.. so I spun, until I had all 3 running in parallel... so Surely 10+ attempts for me.. But once you have it... surely feels very useful.
Amazingly enough I got mine right on the first attempt from "A Threat".
Shoot me dead but I was surprised as hell myself, was thinking it would be in line with running beyond 100 RBs/DBs for a WT.
Seems there is nobody getting it on 2-4 tries... either first try or many tries (or not at all yet).

Where are you all getting this many crystals from, or are you gemming up the disappointment?
I did 4 with crystals over the course of 15 days, then did 5 with gems in about 3 days. I figured after the 1st four I might be close so what the heck, spend a few gems. But after spending 6,496 gems without a hit, I'm back to the slow way with crystals. Especially after seeing how many Raubhautz has done without any luck. Sorry man! Hope you hit it soon.
Note to BB: If the gem cost for a long letter quest was lower, say around 500 gems instead of the roughly 1,299 apiece I've spent, I might have kept on going, and in the long run spent even more gems. If it was going to take me 20 attempts, that would be 10,000 gems at a lower cost of 500, which I would have gladly paid. At 1,299 average per quest, 7 quests = over 9,000 gems. It's not looking like I'm gonna hit a manuscript with only 7 quests, I'm not going to pay over 25,000 gems for 20 quests, so why spend any more of my gems than I already have? I know it's already too late to lower the gem to crystal ratio, but somewhere around 12 gems per crystal might have been better for you guys in the long run. Either that or us knowing what to expect as a drop rate so we don't begin feeling like we're throwing our gems away.
In other words: an excellent job on taking suckers in for few thousand gems. Who said BB has no clue? They know very well how to take you guys on a gem shopping spree :) Thanks to all the info I am not wasting any gems on this. Why did they name it "oven" when it is clearly a slot machine. No pun intended I like playing the Excelsior roulette:)
Landed manuscript recipe on 2nd try, first try was from a 'threat quest' with no luck, 2nd try and success from a 'compass quest'.
Landed tome recipe with work yard on first run of completing 'evil queen' adventure chain.
Might as well just be guys sitting on a stash from the 10 Gem pits without having anything else to sink them in, there isn't enough in the market to get to "use all your gems from pits".Quote:

Yet they seem to stubbornly cling to being uber greedy.
i dont play this server but do read the forums i had same issue on the EU server loads was getting it after their first or second quest it took me 20 attempts before i got the recipe and a heck of alot of gems

I've played several games where the access to premium currency through gameplay alone was sustainable to propler save up for some things without needing to save for half a year or more. Current best example in mind that I have is....ah well, not supposed to talk about other games because reasons, right?
Anyhow, just climbing the pvp ladders a little bit gives you a daily reward that is approx 5% worth of top notch items, add in rng boxes that you can collect every couple of hours with has anything between 0-5% worth of premium currency, but this method can only be sustained through playing the game as well (as you need to have "keys" to open more than 1 of 5 cards from said boxes) and those then come from daily tasks and level up reward. One of the few games I enjoy reading the reviews about how people are whining about it being a cash grab, when it really isn't (not to mention the updates from this year have fixed many issues that were present when I started it). Throw in the market that updates every 4h with random items, with many times getting a 50% discount (both on ingame currency as well as the premium currency) and you get 3 free updates kind of daily....haven't paid attention to it, feel like it's tied to how active you are, I'd say roughtly every other day for me atm.
Compare that to TSO, 100 gems isn't worth much. Jollys take you 3 weeks, Savages 10 weeks and for the MMA you are looking at almost a year. So the daily login, consecutive daily login no less, takes a fair time to add up to anything worthwhile. Leaves level up to 50 (which heavily depends on your game style....many take roughly a year to get to 50, save the heavy early traders and resources that can be thrown to boost them now) and that all gets you to some 5k gems, add in the quests at 50 was about another 2000(?) or so. The achievements across the board add upt o 2500 iirc(?) and can take quite some time as well. At 50 you then also get access to the 100 gems a week through Star Coins, provided you manage to get any, since that's a bit harder now with the level cap being at the end of the world. Excelsior now throws in some random change at you too which seems much more viable as "steady" income, provided one focuses on getting gems rather than whatever.
So assuming you got your L50 and achievements cleared, you are looking at 200 gems a week (daily as well as star coins) and whatever you can get from Exelcior, let's just give that 100 as well, making it roughly 300 gems/week once you are 50+
At this point it looks at least kind of alright, saving for MMA and beyond doesn't feel too hardcore anymore, but pre 50 you are kind of dry.
Long story short, I'd give it a "Hard but kind of fair" rating lol

Why you do not see that is beyond me.

No Reward for finding all collectibles. Even though it says REWARD. Greedy and insensitive.
Rewards like 2 x-bow or 4 t-ore. Insignificant and not worthy of the name "reward".
Minuscule amounts of resources in loots and as rewards. Stinginess.
My point is that they are consistently skimpy and greedy. Not that they never do anything, but hardly ever.
As I stated, they only cost themselves money in the long run by being so greedy in the short run.
Being more generous in rewards and loots would cost them NOTHING and probably encourage people to buy more gems.
Well, every collectible is a reward in and by itself. Sure we can argue about Scaredy's and Herbs and the other trash that nobody needs but the likes of Banners are worth it. It's like finding money and you don't get taxed for it and then demand a reward for finding "all". Not that I am not in favor of Evil's recent post about a Crystal reward for completing rhe whole thing. Not arguing that collectibles may or may not be worth our time, that's another matter.Quote:

Indeed those were a slap in the face but have not been remodled to be crystals which will have a decent value for quite some while through all levels. Albeit not tradable, there is some value to it....of course it's skimpy, still gotta keep the whole picture in mind, not that BB knows where the picture is in the first place.Quote:

damage controlinflation control. Pretty much backfired as expected. Not categorizing this as stingy but utter executive failure. Some revision to the loot was needed for rebalancing regardless, but it was just beyond too late for that.

Personally, my need for insta gratification is fairly low, thus I don't need everything handed to me without effort. I dropped my 100 when I started, went the Gempit route (which they did increase to 10, not to forget about that) and haven't really been able to complain ever since, still got some 90k left with nothing to spend it on....waste on tons alright, but I a spender and not a waster. Not to forget....this is a side time sink, if I want to play a game, I actually will play "a game" and have fun, not just sink time to pass time.
Disclaimer: I hereby distance myself from anything BB and any positivelt spun statements, I got enough munition left to be vicous hehe
Got my manuscript recipe on 2nd run.
So far, It's the only recipe I can see that has any value. Since the Tome and Codex recipes still require other books used as components, your bookmaker will always be able to use up manuscripts faster than they can be produced to ever need to make a tome or codex in the RPH.
I think "luck has decided" that I will only ever get 50 gems...so I spend 5-6 days worth of crystal gathering (on prem) to get 1.72 crystals in return. :(

I wouldn't call BB greedy for the simple fact that no one has to spend money to get far in the game, just time. There's nothing you can't (very eventually) get without spending any money. Stingy? Yeah, sometimes. Unbalanced prices? Yeah, some things.
I've played games where they would have extremely epic heroes with equally epic armor/weapons that cost $300+ real money, which were so unbalanced that the army they commanded could completely wipe out dozens of "non-spender" armies by themselves with all the bonuses they gave.
Honestly, unless they are planning to expand the book system to generals (and given that it's been years since they even touched the Science System, I really doubt it'll ever happen), I really don't see any need for the other recipes at all. I don't really care if I ever get the manuscript one even. I'm to the point of unconsciously hoarding stuff I'll never need. Getting more bonus resources from explorers isn't necessary.Quote:

Sad thing is, if the odds to get it are 10% or something, that means a 90% chance to not get it... after 40 runs (0.9)^40 = 0.01478 you still have over a 1.4% chance of not having it....
Does anyone know what the odds actually are? I don't want to depress Raub more than necessary if the odds are >10% :)
