Woo Hoo!!! Finally got it on the 10th try.
Good point. I understand the numbers pretty well, and though it is easy to take personal and lose focus on the actual chances, my original observation can also be taken in reverse: if it is 10% (something we have no knowledge of atm), how the bejesus did so many players hit on the 1st (and 2nd) run?! It would be interesting to see an actual distribution of these 'chances'.
I'm wondering if there is a bug in the system where the chances of getting the Manuscript recipe is lower if you already have the Epic Farmyard? I got the Farmyard first, then tried for the Manuscript recipe. So far I've failed to get the Manuscript recipe on about 10-12 tries. I know a couple people who have gotten the recipe on their 1st or 2nd try, and they do not have their Epic Farmyard yet. Just a thought....
My continuing disappointments to obtain the manuscript recipe are also without the epic farmyard...
besides water don't see much use unless it's a quest calling for wheat, horses, brew, water. it's another huge ugly building that needs a sector for itself. and the recipes are an ordeal to obtain, like the book ones.......
I like the Piggyard for Epic Mill feature. Once fully unlocked will cut the number of my mills in half or more. Granted it might take 33 more full runs of the entire chain since blueprints are on rng base. We will see. Maybe I will have enough "accomplishing energy" in me to actually do it. Time will tell:)
I just want it because it is new, but I don't think I will run the chain more than once every month or two. I still have yet to get it because I saved up the last two ventures for after Halloween.
8 tries, no luck yet
I have run nothing but Long Letters since Excelsior came out (on Premium); still no manuscript recipe.
Frustrating.
Takes so long to get crystals, even on Premium, and then so few of them actually turn into letter pieces in the magic Mahogany Wood Generator, then you finally get enough to complete a quest, only to get the bad prize. Every time.
Im up to around 20 of the boxes, no recipe yet
Interesting how we become spoiled here. BB provides yet another feature & we complain that a 50 gem reward (plus xp and other bonuses) is a "bad prize."
I will agree it is frustrating to not get the prize I am seeking, but I can't slam them for the additional content.
LOL, I just *knew* someone would have to comment on that; I wondered how long it would take.
I am not "slamming" them for the additional content. When compared to the other option, 50 gems is a bad prize - to me. It's my opinion, and yours may vary, but 50 gems (or ~1.7 crystals) is a "bad"/unbalanced prize in comparison to the manuscript recipe, in terms of my personal gameplay, and the way the odds/RNG seeding is setup in this game, I suspect (actually, know) that many others are in the same position and share the same opinion.
That is, in fact, what this thread is about - obtaining (or not) the Manuscript Blueprint.
I like the concept of Excelsior, but parts of it could use some tweaking, and this (in my opinion) is one of them.
Got it on try 11
Well, when you get the recipe on the first try like me, not even realizing it's hard to get (sorry), then your "surprise box" always has 50 gems, I find that... how shall I say... not "surprising" when I open it.
A small chance at getting 10 crystals would be a wonderful surprise!!!
1st try, but like others I didn't notice the box until about a week later.
3rd time from the long letter quests
I stopped counting, but I am probably close to 20 tries now.
And herein lies the problem ... the RNG seeding for something like this. Unlike, say, rare loot from an adventure (such as an Angel Gate or a follow-up adventure or even a witch tower), the manuscript recipe actually can change one's gameplay to a certain degree. Thus, seemingly random distribution of it seems to be less than ideal, IMO.
And yes, for those lucky enough to get it, the "surprise" box then truly ceases to have any surprise. In my case, it also has no surprise, as my particular RNG seed seems to guarantee that "luck" will always decide on 50 gems.
I feel your pain Eriond. It took me 10 tries to finally get it, which as it turns out I can see wasn't so bad, but even 10 was beginning to get frustrating, given what has to be done to get to the surprise box. It seems like it could at least be "random with a cap", that is, after X amount of tries (6 or 8 or 10?) you get the recipe rather than what is causing frustration for you and others.
With barazek buffs I can crank out 10 manuscripts a day and still make enough steaks to cover my usage. Meanwhile my bookbinder is free to make 2 tomes a day. So yes, having the recipe does change gameplay "to a certain degree". Instead of taking over a month to fully upgrade an explorer, it can be done in less than 2 weeks.
I hope you hit it soon man!
Yes. I agree. Some would step in and say, 'Oh, but it is chance...' and such nonsense, but those are usually the people who obtain their stuff on the first try... (ofc)
Overall, with the sole exception of WT dropping in RB/DB, my accounts luck (or whatever it has the RND(SEED) tied to) is absolutely horrific. Aside the many AB adventures I have run to get to lvl68, I have yet to see a single deco or building drop; further, I have run (and still do) Secluded Experiments semi-frequently in order to get an AG to drop in my ls... Ran no less than 150 SE, swapped or otherwise obtained at least another 200 SE ls and not seen an Angel Gate - have seen 3 MSE (which out of 350+ ls, is about the correct drop rate if the wiki is correct), the only AG I have is one that a player looted for me (and she was honest about it, which is another story). Seems that for the most part players with luck (RND) have luck throughout, those who do not, don't.
Maybe so. But it shouldn't be. The Evil Queen Chain is guaranteed to drop the Epic Farmyard at the end of the last venture. And each venture in the chain is guaranteed to drop the follow-up. Having the manuscript recipe be on a RNG that makes it so difficult to get is totally inconsistent by comparison.
Rather than the RNG drop, perhaps a quest where you complete each of the 3 long letter quests 3 times each and get the recipe as a reward would be more equitable. It's horrible that many people get the recipe on their first try while many others are still trying after 20 times thru the cycle. It's too inconsistent and breeds frustration like a swamp breeds mosquitoes.
If a general skill tree ever happens, I'm going to be right back to not having enough again.
Just got the blueprint on my 10th try(probably, already lost count)
I was so excited and immediately started a batch of 25 manuscript.
now my rarity provision house locks for several days even with barazek.
I should separate into smaller batch..
For those of you who havenit got the recipe yet -one word of advice -start saving up lots of nibs and simple paper. I burned through 100k of each in a flash. Currently building/up grading 3 more buildings of each. Pleasant problem to have though.
Been running 4 and 4 since the dawn of time...ain't no shortage anytime soon hahaQuote:

I finally got the manuscript one, somewhere around 30 trys. So I have the manuscript and Tomb ones now just need codec one from level 63 adventures

Should have lots of science books when Im done
30+ now for me, still no joy
Oh man..... I'm sorry buddy. :(
Now the RNG [gods] are [laughing at] my even getting enough fragments to run another one. 12 days, 9 letter fragments.
40+ tries for me... disappointing since most people I know got it after just a few tries. It's unfair since it makes such a big difference to people who are unable to get it. BB you need to fix this!
I'm on my third try of the "Snow Queen" adventure quest and I got a recipe on the first 2 tries for the same low level water only. I've done a couple of long letters and only got 50 gems each time. It seems that BB made it that you either get it on the 1st try or not at all :/
PS I just finished my 3rd Snow white and got the Tome recipe and Epic stable thingy. So better than some other players
Finally got the manuscript recipe. Maybe hope for a few weeks to get enough parts? :p After my post above (#73) I got it on the next run through.
Well, it's now 2017, so it's been what - about 3 months now since Excelsior launched? I am still doing nothing but long letter quests, and I still have not gotten the manuscript recipe.
:(
Still no manuscript recipe, am I wasting my time trying to get this completed? Is this a bug? or will it eventually drop? All the other active players in my guild got it in the first few tries. Ive been trying to get this now since it was first available. Its a very demoralizing part of the game.
Keep at it. Some of us had to run it over 20 times. Once you get it you will be glad you kept at it
