It's probably been said before...
it would be useful to be able to remove unwanted military units without having to send them to a battle to get killed. Would be nice to get a proportion of the costs back, but mainly it's about freeing population space. Since different missions have different requirements, yiou might want to get rid of (say) 500 cavalry and replace them with bowmen.
