I read it as 9 collectibles with 2 each per collectible. I've had that so far. I would like to know why I've gotten over three times as many candy canes as bells and gingerbread combined though.

If they are staying the course with wording from other events it means there are 9 guaranteed event collectibles on the map with each one having 2 of that item in them. Anywho, they are like any other collectibles, random. Some days will be heavy candy cane so you will try to trade them for gingerbread only to be overflowing with gingerbread days later and trying to trade them for candy canes. You know, circle of life.

With that said, my collectible spawn when I logged in this morning did not have 9 Christmas collectibles. So yeah, typical Blue Byte... something is bugged.
Yes i only had 5 collectibles to be found this morning as well, each one was worth 2 so that meant 10 not sure if this is the minimal amount. As other people had upwards of 10 worth 2 each so a total of 20.

Dear Settlers,
Thank you for spotting an information mismatch in the Dev's Diary. You were right: The amount of Christmas Collectibles that are being spawned on the home island is not always 9, and they do not always provide 2 resource items.
With this in mind, the Dev's Diary has been adjusted so it reflects the actual mechanics:
With each spawn of collectibles, you can find up to 10 (in rare cases even more) Christmas Collectibles providing resource items.
Have a great weekend!

so if we are only getting 3 or 4 per spawn, and no gingerbread at all, how are we supposed to make 5 baskets for the achievement?
The problem of collectible types being out of balance is continuing. I, like many or most in my guild, am getting way more candy canes than the other two types of event collectibles put together. This seems to be a common issue on the Ares server as the Trade Office is full of requests for gingerbread and bells, none at all for candy canes. People trying to sell candy canes are offering them at between 3-5x the amount for other collectibles (eg, 15 candy canes offered for 5 gingerbread). On my island, I have consistently gotten lots of candy canes and hardly any ginger or bells. Unless the drop rates change it seems unlikely I will be able to complete 5 baskets for the achievements.
I'm not having quite that much trouble, but I'm at 75 gingerbread collected so far, about 100 behind the candy canes. I think the trade office is more functional if RNG is giving different people trouble collecting different things and so you can get even trades, but it seems like everybody is having the same missing one.
As for the Christmas Surprise Packages, DON'T waste your Gems. Only wasted 1750 Gems, but Getting 3 Raving Rabbid statues, 1 Pavilion and 1 Angel Monument...I can say, Save your Gems for others things. The drop rate for anything useful seems to have been drastically reduced even from Test server.
And for those wondering about Gingerbread, yes, another Spawn and Another horrible drop. Guess that's just the way it's going to be this year.

I found out during my otherwise productive gingerbread house buying spree that it's possible to accidentally delete hundreds of thousands of coins, which cannot be reversed because it's a feature, not a bug. Humbug. I'm really pleased with the population boost, though. I don't know what I'm going to do with all those newly unemployed settlers, but passing 25k is one more goal off the list.
O.O
Can't seem to find the answer to this.
Is there an all doors open prize this year?
If not, might not bother to open the last doors after building.
You asked for feedback - mine is I love two things from this Event. First, I love Quartermaster Claus's arrival speed and carrying capacity. I use him in every adventure I start. Second, I love how I can use explorers to gather presents. I bought two more explorers during this Event because they can gather presents.
The generals are a great idea and I like that they are in the windows not something you have to save presents to acquire. Per normal, it is frustrating how overloaded on candy canes the collectibles are versus the bells and gingerbread. Evening out the distribution would be less annoying.
i loved this one the best this contest was easy and gave even those who can use computers well a chance to compete
My Mom always said that if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all, so....
well but the not nice things have to be said, otherwise theres nothing to improve
for newer players sure, this event was nice with alot of stuff to buy from the shop
for veterans like me it probably was the worst christmas event, mainly because theres nothing new to buy from the shop, i guess we're expecting a new improved building and maybe a new recipe, atleast
relatively to the calender it was quite nice, some great stuff to get there, 2 GBH, 2 floating residences, a new unique general and a bunch of other decent stuff to fill the other days left
One feedback I have is, I wish BB changed the trading system, such that it is easier to see and track and price history of items...
I mean, would you trade on stock exchange, without looking at the price history? Likely not...
The specific mechanics can be discussed separately (for those who might say, how is it even gonna work),
but some of you might be asking, what does it have to do with this event...? Great question..
The reason I bring this up, is because I feel for new / lower level players, who didn't know what was best to do with their 2 Gingerbread houses...
I think many players, even though are not as worried as I am for them.. ended up selling their GBH for god knows what price...
So giving out 2 GBH to every player, while a good thing from BB to start, only ends up with such precious and rare resources getting concentrated (in large numbers) once again with smaller number of players who know what and how to trade...
Its all legal, and nothing wrong in theory.. but I still think players should have a better chance of understanding the trades they are making, and hence the need for BB to have a formal price history..
The lack of gingerbread and Christmas Bell collectibles was a little annoying. It would have been nice to get presents from adventures, but then the price of things for sell for presents probably would have been a lot higher, so all in all that was o.k.
I also would like a little more info about the 3 generals we can choose from the calendar. Not sure which is best suited to the adventures that I do.
I was happy with watermills, recyclers, and Claus. Not a great shop for those who have been around for a while, but I will get good use out of these things. I agree, though, the calendar is excellent.
Only real issue, I felt, was the dearth of bells and gingerbread in the collectibles. Way way too many canes. I like that the achievements were available to everyone regardless of level unlike the halloween event, and I like the way the calendar went.
(1) I'd love to have the option to turn off my island when I'm out of town (like I was for 5 days at Christmas). It's a very tedious time consuming task to shut everything down and then start them up again. (2) How about offering decorations, not just holiday, in the shop for the events? As others have said, there's not much to choose from if you've been playing for a while. (3) please get a better balance of candy canes, bells, and gingerbread.
I have generally enjoyed this event. I especially appreciate the 2nd Claus. I always have tended to hold mine back to cover for troops I forgot to send and having a deeper bench is nice.
I actually like that newer players get to do a bit of 'catching up' with the RPH, recipes, etc. It's nice to see some of the up and coming players get to a par with those who have been around longer.
I'm even ok with topping out my wishlist earlier and easier because this is a busy time of year for me anyway.
The collectibles feel a bit stingy but we can't have it all done in the first week and just click calendar doors so I agree with this aspect.
I think overall the Christmas event was really good. The only thing I can say would be to get the
5 gift baskets needed for achievements(event) is not easy for those who cannot be on
for long periods of time and only log on for an hour or two a day.
They normally only get one batch of collectibles a day and since it is limited in the amounts that fall,
they could never make enough baskets in that time.
The only thing I recall from the test server was BB_Alex saying they were still making the decision, but that was long, long before BB_Aeyline made this post.
And I guess my memory sucks... December 16th
My feedback:
1. As the others have stated, the ratios for Candy Cane/Bells/Gingerbread were way off. Last year seemed to be much more balanced.
2. The event calendar has been great, even without a "final prize" for opening all doors. The rewards provided by opening the doors have been great.
3. More/better information about the new generals, well in advance of the day we choose them, would have been great. Thankfully the players community has filled that void, but I would still have preferred more "official" word from BB on where these generals were a best fit. At the very least, drop in on the player testing discussions and confirm/support the data they've been generating.
4. More variety of stuff to purchase with presents for all players, not just new players. Its great that the RPH is available, but if you already have one from previous events/purchasing in the merchant you're essentially penalized for it in this event, because there isn't anything else to substitute for it. It would be nice if there was an "either/or" type of choice for those of us that already possess the RPH. Or come up with an Improved Bookbinder or some other sort of building.
5. I feel like the presents availability/ability to acquire them was very fair and reasonable. Players who casually play or are not online 24/7 still had a very reasonable chance at acquiring presents in sufficient quantity to purchase good stuff from the event merchant.
I lik this event better than the 2016 Halloween event, in terms of overall game play, but I don't think it was as good as the 2015 Christmas event.
This doesn't suggest they will be available or will not be available. What were the ways already mentioned? Is premium currency one of them?
I'm leaning toward the theory that they will be in the shop, but that quantity amounts have not been addressed yet. I've picked out the one I must have for now, though, and just hope for the best.
Hello guys,
Once again, thank you for your valuable feedback. We are still monitoring and reporting your comments to the developers for the continuous improvement of your gaming experience. Regarding the new generals, we are still discussing the specific details that will determine when and how they will be offered in-game. We understand the importance of this information, so rest assured an official post will be published as soon as these decisions have been made.
In the meantime, please feel free to continue sharing your feedback.
Cheers,
BB_Aeyline
I like the new Generals, have a hard time deciding which two I like best tho.
Overall, on the event. I found that candy canes were found in abundance, but there was not a lot we can do with them. Bells and Gingerbread were not found in equal proportion to make presents with and consequently nobody was trading them either. If we have excess if would be great if we can just save them for next year.
Gingerbread in particular was easy to miss, it was a bit small in size and not prominent enough.
Nothing that hasn't already been said, but my feedback:
1) Collectible balance was way off. Collectibles are already one of the least-fun parts of the game, why make them more frustrating at events?
2) Calendar rewards were good this year
3) Shop was very ... meh, for higher level players, anyway. I can use the recyclers, I will use the 2nd Claus ... and that's about it. The rest I already either have and can't get again, or didn't really have a use for.
4) Quests and such were fine
Happy New Year!
was very disappointed that regular adventures did not give presents, we had very little to do to gather extra presents, made this event kind of every day boring.
1. Collectibles are always a hassle in every event. Either a slow start (1 a day or nothing for first 2-4 days of event like pumpkins) or plentiful of spawn of 1 collectible and 2-3 others in short supply. I know this is not a glitch BB, you can tweek % of randomness in your code to make sure the collectibles spread is not 70-20-10%.
2. Calendar - spot on, plenty of free goodies (thanks for the gingerbread houses), great and easy quests and plenty of opportunities to get presents.
3. Decent shop. Not much for old players but decent stuff for newbies, especially chance top get free Rarity Provision House and all the recipes.
4. Generals. The need to offer all of them in shop later on for gems is without a question. Guide makers are still split between which one to chose, so for next few months those of us who didn't pick the "right" general might just watch nice guides popping up on forums and curse our choice. There is not enough information on your BB part about the generals. The descriptions are decent but a short video explaining how each general differs and where it shines would be a god send for many players. Like you did a short video explaining the PVP. You expect testers (who supposed to be testing) to do your job in explaining the mechanics of new features. Than again, when I go shopping now I have to pick my stuff, pay myself and even pack the groceries myself. I guess I am just old skool NOT LIKING IT :)
did anyone mention that all the Christmas adventures used the exact same buffs? I started out with 25 of everything and im still sitting there.
