so what is the deal with flash? Google has disabled flash as of its new update and soon will no longer have it as they have said HTML5 will be replacing it.. Flash is outdated and a security risk.. IE, FireFox and others have also mentioned yet again they are slowing getting rid of flash support.. Is there any intention to update this game or are we the players screwed when all major companies no longer support flash. Can you give me a reason why Settlers can not update to new technology?

iirc there was a "as long as it will run on flash, it will run on flash" or something to that regard. Nevermind that they would need to sink some serious resources to do that transition.
I'm not sure how big of a difference there is between flash and html5, but if it's anything like many other transitional periods, it would likely require an extensive coding overhaul that could take years to perfect. Or they could just spit out the new version in weeks and use the players to progressively playtest it for them like they do for most of their updates.

In regards to your initial statement, we'd like to clarify that Google Chrome had officially mentioned that they would not stop supporting Flash. An integrated Flash plugin will be offered instead - which means, in other words, that things will work the same way as before. You need to have Flash manually installed on your machine so that Chrome is still be able to use it.
There is no need to fear, Settlers will still be playable with known browsers such as Google Chrome, Firefox, Edge and many more. :)
