I might be able to squeak by, but these quests are getting worse and I haven't even reached stage 4 yet. What am I going to do with 100 swordsmen, 200 besiegers, and 200 marksmen?

I was concerned about the last mission, which for me required getting exotic wood from treasure searches.
One method which I applied... it cost me 30 gems per search to halve the search time. By planning ahead, I was able to schedule plenty of searches. As it turns out I hit the jackpot quite quickly. But for a relatively small number of gems you can get lots more searches done.
Ok - so I will only finish stage 2 and that is working steadily at it. I have never liked how in order to finish anything in these events I must buy supplies from the trade office (like 500 titanium to make the crossbowmen) and build additional workshops to finish your requirements in a reasonable time. Sorry but I feel that your events are just geared to pushing us to towards some goal you deemed we should aim for. I have a life and will not rearrange my life to finish these in your timeframe. so it's official - I will not bother participating in your events anymore, just not worth it and cost to much for you get.
Let me just go on record as saying that completion criteria for ANY event being finding X of anything based on ANY type of search by an explorer is a horrendously BAD IDEA.
You simply CANNOT expect people to work their tails off to complete all the other criteria and then drop the final completion criteria into the hands of fate.
ESPECIALLY by making it contingent on the longest searches.
Obviously you guys didn't think that one through very well.
Excellent event, ty. Much needed!
I felt the search quests I got were fair. I think it was 5 long treasure, 3 very long treasure, 1 very long adventure (right at the very end... I deliberately held back my explorers for that just in case). A bit of a waste because those aren't very useful searches except for the adventure one, but I just had to do them, not find anything specific.
Just finished with a bit of time to spare. Wasn't sure if I was going to have to gem a quest because of the uncertainty of what kept popping up, but I ended up having just enough time. Had to burn through a few extra buffs, but overall I found the resource cost reasonable for a change of pace and a unique population and resource building, among the other rewards, though it wouldn't have been if I didn't have time to finish.
Lesson learned that I should upgrade some of my elite buildings. I have most of them sitting at level 2 or 3 because I hardly ever use them, but giving them another level or two won't hurt for situations like this. Would have been nice if I could produce mahogany planks in the epic woodyard.
The troop production quests turned out to be rougher than I anticipated. Between a couple of skunks, recruitment guides, and Myers, the time became manageable. At least give me troops people actually use. I hardly ever even bring marksmen with me on adventures, and it looks like I lose 6 on Wisdom and 10 on Fisherman's Wife. I guess I'll burn the extra couple hundred eventually (same with the other troop types, except knights), but I could be sitting on these troops for a while because they are too expensive for me to want to just throw away.
for me it felt like a scam.. this is why...
i started one day late because i couldnt come online at first day of quest.
so i imidiatly started the quest list.
first phase was easy altough toke me 2 steps per day.
get the resources and tools to fight the camp.
phase 2 was getting me a bit in a problem.. needed to use my jsut gained gems to buy houses for training troops( and somewhere mistoke longbowers for crossbowers)
i didnt fight because i toguht i needed to dellegate troops later. so i jsut boguht hosues and extra production for weapons i normally dont make that much ( seeing hwo i never lose those troops that much to replace the weapons)
phase 3 was all recruitng more troops which i havent got room for at this point
and at phase 4 i got the feeling of being scammed 1 more recruitment ewhich i jsut sended my recruits and second time milita to a quest to lose them so i had room.
got 8 hours left to do the quest and got to the last phase of the tower building but here is the catch..
needed to get 50 somekind of wood from long treasure search and adventure search .. even with the help of skills never could have gotten past that in time
and again didnt send any explorers in advance because of this quest.. so it felt to me it was some kinda scam
So I was finishing stage 2 just processing the last bits of meat - which I had time to do before the end and went to bed SINCE I HAVE TO WORK TODAY!
But no - the quest reward was not waiting for me when I woke up! What a rip off - I am supposed to stay up till midnight to collect this? Since I was sure I made it why wasn't the reward waiting for me to collect this morning, end of quest time or not? I earned it why did I not get it? I am supposed to stay up and wait when I have TO WORK TODAY!?! Can you say RIP OFF!!!!! I AM PISSED!!! Why was I not given the reward?
Stop pushing us to make troops just be cause you think we should have them, stop adding in long searches on a limited time quest, and stop ripping off players! I spent way more than I got in this quest which also pisses me off.
Why can't we have quests that are fun and not just forced advancement?
Agreed.
Was excited at the start but by the end it was a disappointment. Time limit should have been 7 days (IMO).
Wasted lots of resources with no results to show for it.
So in other words, they need to design these quests so everyone can do them no matter how late they start or how much time they have to play. Hmm not much of a "crisis" if you know going in you are getting the prizes. With that line of reasoning, might better just send to everyone as a gift up front(what fun that would be for all) and save themselves the aggravation. I thought it was fun and well balanced for all levels.
I think the argument is maybe better rewards per stage or at least some indication of a reasonable time frame to expect to complete. I didn't really keep track of what it cost me, so I can't say whether the earlier costs were all that much, though most of what I invested into it was for resource production of stuff I will use eventually at the expense of some buffs.
I have tried to argue that point of view before, hope you have better luck with it than I did.
Anywho, no matter what I thought of the individual quests... the rewards this time around were well worth the cost. I mean I am kind of disappointed that every time I go out of town for a week, that is when you decide to do a Crisis Event, but I will not take it personally. But yeah, I get to blow up an extra mountain and get a recycling manufactory? Sign me up anytime.
AGREED, my point exactly! They need to realize that we all would love to play but this game is not at the top of my RL to do list. It is not too much to ask for to A) not be asked to do a bunch of pointless upgrades or commitments to expensive troops; B) Have a reasonable idea of what the time commitment is so we can decide if it is worth pursuing; C) If we earn the reward before it ends - WE GET THE AWARD REGARDLESS OF WHEN WE PICK IT UP!!!

Humph, crisis my a** all it was was another forced advancement down the road that BB thinks we should be heading. I don't think asking for them to realize that we all would love to play but this game is not at the top of my RL to do list. I have a life, sorry you don't.
This goes back to the request of quests auto-completing when the necessary resources have been gathered, which I agree with, but I don't think the game keeps constant track of what you are earning but rather does the math when you login. Should it be able to check and say yes, you did earn that by 4AM? That seems simple enough.
so when i said it was a scam i wasnt the only one.
yeah they forced me to recruit troops i couldn house like 5 times!
doing an long treasure search when you have 8 hours left.
getting up resource production /new buildings whne you have no lisences so you can get the 12 hour mark on the resources you need. when you never actually need to use them that much
also there are 2 more clear indicators its a scam
first i accidently logged into another world. when i did the quest popped up for it and said you need to be level 16 to do the next quest?
why put that there when you cant even do anything untill then?
and the happy hour the day before the quest would end
come on, guys, they had to add some difficult quests, if the quests were all to pay stuff or double trade then we would be finish it in a few hours and we would start complaining again about the lack of things to do...
in my opinion this crisis quest was a very nice surprise, good reward overall.
and btw i am still killing the extra troops i had to make for it... i guess i'm kinda used with that kind of quests because of pathfinder... almost every week we get quests to train elite and/or regular troops...
get us to train troops 5x even when my population cant hold it up
let us build allot of resources for said troops which dont die allot of times since you have good tactics
(maybe use the gems you got directy to use in the same questas well because of that)
and then send explorers to maybe or maybe not find the resource on first try, because they dont have to find the specific treasures in all even after doing it a few times
have to buy/upgrad buildings that take a few times to produce the resources in the 12 hour term
that looks about right..
Overall a very good Crisis Event; had quests that required resources and time, very nice. I share the complaint on unnecessary troops building of top-tier troops (Xbows, Sentinels, Beseigers, etc.), however, there is a reasonable compromise available, allow players to muster-out/decommission troops: the idea is out there:
Muster-Out Existing Troops
This would allow us to reclaim troops yet keeping some challenge to quests and the like.
They are still called Elite Soldiers, get your timeline right :PQuote:
(Xbows, Sentinels, Beseigers, etc.)
On that note, I wish I had gotten the 65(?) bracket where they needed to make Elite Troops instead of the expensive regular ones. The extra XB and K I have no need for at all, E will come in handy after a botched block hehe
I think the times I wrecked XB and K in a block can be counted on 2 hands still :/
I guess I could try my HLT block with the Major again and "hope" I botch that to kill off XB, but that's a bit too many killed off then, but seeing how we got new Generals and a skill tree, I think I won't be needing the Major to do any more blocks there, tbh it was a bit weird at first using him to block instead to attack, but well worth the experience of having done it :D
all you guys know to do is complain =)
i loved the crisis, some quests are pointless but who cares, nice rewards in the end, now ive extra troops that i dont need but its easy, just kill them off in some attacks, problem solved.
took me 4 days to complete everything not using gems, so it wasnt a piece of cake, nice to see BB not just giving nice things away. rewards were awesome, ~1200 gems, 1 recycler, unique watchtower, very nice :)
if you dont like quest X or quest Y, well, youre not forced to do it ;)
I guess it's not so bad to have all these extra elite units then. At least I can use those. Eventually.
it was way too easy. managed to complete in every server i tried and most places i have underdeveloped islands. only thing that could have gone wrong was the last quest that had random chance in it. if the searches failed you could always gem it. more than enough gem rewards from previous parts to do that.
