I took out a mountain in sector 7 and now it won't let me build there. Tried reloading the game and already wrote support.
They need to fix the space or return the demolition crew.

Lol, kind of funny, I used the Demolition Crew on the exact same Mountain... I agree it was a waste, only netted a single 2x2 area (4 spots), a bit shy of the advertised 9 which are possible; having the sector border encroaching the island is probably the issue. However, your road to the south appears to be blocking the spots, I squeezed the Watch tower there:
