The Maze

Together with Sonya you bring the man to her chambers and have a doctor from your crew check on him. You become increasingly aware of that fact that the man is under the influence of some strong curse; he seems neither dead nor alive, he cannot move nor speak, and even the doctor can't help him out. As you ponder on your next move, you decide that going back to the mountain path would be the best option. After all, you need to find where the ruin is, as Sonya previously suggested. It must be the only way to save the man!

Back on the mountain path, the blizzard has gone, but not without leaving its marks: debris everywhere, fallen trees and mountain rubble make it difficult for you to advance and follow the hints. Fortunately, you remember the savage scout is in your crew! With a grumble that sounded like a German threat – "Du musst Bilder rahmen!" – the explorer takes the lead. Sonya and the rest of the crew follow him confidently; he seems to know the area like no other.

Soon you reach a hidden path very close to the crossroads where you first saw the man. You decide to follow the magical discrepancies in the air and find yourself in front of an ancient stone gate which seems to be the entrance to a cave. You come closer and observe the gate. It is all covered with inscriptions and mysterious symbols you cannot yet decipher.

With butterflies fluttering in your stomach and a cold sweat on your forehead, you open the gate. What you see nearly takes your breath away: it is a beautiful garden which leads to a ruin. You decide to enter. As you take a closer look, you notice that the garden is in fact a maze! "Like in the old myths!" you hear Sonya quirking. With a side glance at your crew and happy Sonya, you decide to go forth into the maze and find out what surprise awaits you there. But first you need to make sure you know your way out!

Take as much cotton twine is on hand and tie it firmly to some rocks at the entrance and lay a line of our journey through the maze. For good measure, also use some of the burnt wood charcoal as a marker on the walls. And to triply make sure, we will put scuffed arrows in the dirt as we progress. You never know when a wall will move.

And once we get to the center of the maze, we start looking for clues as to where the shrine the old man had had come from.

Hrmmm, so, I suppose my first post about finding the ruins in the center is no longer valid as the wrong map was up :(

Use a ball of rope or string of some kind to mark your path as you go. It worked for Theseus.

The stone figurine is the key. The old man found his way through, despite in his current condition. The figurine must be a guidestone of some sort.

Make sure you have plenty of water, this may take a while just keep right to the wall. And you will make it out.

Regardless of Most peoples votes, the figurine remains intact, and I agree that there appears to be nothing in the center of the maze relating to the figurine... or maybe because the "solution" shown above doesn't go to the center of the maze, which was the suggested goal, rather than to the other entrance...

Above and left of the maze is a cave with a pair of eyes staring out. Hmmm....

While yes most US players did vote for this, the worldwide majority voted on going back up the mountain.

Please everyone try not to post the path for this as well. I know a lot have already solved it, but for those that haven't it takes away the fun from it. There are some great ideas on how to guide yourself's through the maze as well.

What do some of you think will happen next?

It'll take a little longer to get thru the maze, but I'll hold my left hand on the left wall all the way thru and do the same on the way back.

I die at the hands of the minotaur ... or medusa ... or minodusataur.

I'm not sure how this story line is progressing the way it is. When you arrive the "ship was empty of crew" and "Together with Sonya you take the man back to the Excelsior as she explains how her crew disappeared one after another on the mountain path" Now the ship's doctor has checked the man out and while returning up the path you notice that one of the crew members is an explorer. Stay with your original story line or explain how the whole crew abandoned Sonya and somehow made it back to the Excelsior. Only you, Sonya and the man should be in the Excelsior, you should send a message to bring all your generals and troops as quickly as possible, and Sonya goes out close to the ship to get herbs to help the man. Whether that works or not remains to be seen.

You find the way out of the maze after using your explorer and he finally finds the exit. To find in the center of the maze a statue with more strange markings on it.When you reach the exit you see a path leading further inland. You decide to go further down the path to see where it leads.

What? Most US players voted to destroy something they don't understand? Who would have figured...?

BTW... "Du musst Bilder rahmen!" translates in English to "You have to frame pictures!" ;)

Yes, I was shocked at the views on our servers.... then when I voted and checked the stats on my German account, It was inverse of the votes here... lol Definitely different perspectives... Thankfully there were close to 10x the players voting on the German server than here. Common sense evened out.

Hi Ed_The_Eldar,

Sorry for the confusion with this. The troops that are helping Sonya are your troops. If you look back at the first part of the story you will see that you brought troops with you following the distress call from Sonya. Hope this helps you out for the next part of the story!

Heck no! If you check out the other servers, mostly euro, destroying the figurine was the lowest and they outnumber us by like 10-1.

It is completely fine. I know it can get a bit confusing having the story broken down how it is and also having the delay in how it is posted as well.
