Why are you making things 2x more expensive (platinum, yes, but also MS and MM)? What is the game reason for these non-improvements?
I think it is disgusting halving the star coins from Pathfinder, not impressed at all... was playing less due to the constant bugs you dont fix... will be on less even more now if at all..
Please make some pop buildings for mid level players, Or you could rise the chances of getting them in some of the adventures, That would be nice,
In the past, players could not purchase a second Rarity Provision House. With this new mechanic, it would be possible to increase the speed of the RPH by having a second. Will the lock on multiple purchases be lifted now? Will players be able to purchase those they could not in previous events? Will players be able to get a second during the next winter event?Quote:
- Additional culture buildings and provision houses of the same type will now decrease the cooldown or production time.
Additional note: Currently on the test server, you can have 2 RPH's, but there is no change in the speed of production. The footie pitch/training field has half the cooldown time and an additional buff. The spring park also has half the cooldown. Both buildings now have a 'duplicate bonus' added to the GUI.
Been sitting on a few Snow Whites waiting for this. Very helpful to finally get this farmyard completed and use for Lost Puppy.
I have reported the failure of customer service to address the experience error on multiple adventures to Blue Byte customer service as well as Ubisoft
I actually enjoyed those quests now and then. Just feel like i was misled in making the effort to get to pathfinder, only for the reward to be halved. Slowed down with game when this was shown on test, nothing to inspire me to play anymore.. changes / improvements... i don't see any improvements at all of note, just fluff and more resources sinks.
"A new fog will now cover the home island."
What is the purpose of this new "feature"? Are we going to still be able to see our islands? As someone whose vision isn't the greatest any more, I'm not looking forward to having my island covered in fog. Not at all.
A lot of bad changes, I'm not happy at all.
Stopped right there. Hate this update. All the good things going right now, and you take away the Star Coins that we toiled to get to?! WTH? Seriously? Dumping Granite was a good idea for PF rewards; adding Crystals good, I suppose, why not put them in the middle for half and keep 5k for Star Coins.Quote:
Weekly rewards for the Pathfinder have been changed to:
3 tasks: 300 Grout
6 tasks: 2,500 Star Coins
9 tasks: 15 Crystals
Bah. Less and less motivation to grind here. Whatever.
On test you can have two rphs because one is given to you at the start and the merchant is not altered to reflect that (same reason you can get 6 unlimited copper). However, the free one isn't "real" as if you tear it down it will not go back to star. If you buy the one for gems, that one will go back to star if destroyed.
My point being, that I do not believe "provision houses" in this update description actually refers to the PH/RPH, but instead to the new MCC buildings that are also a type of provision house in that they are use to make buffs as well. (Fish steak, barracks buffs...) Those ones ARE affected by the speed increase for multiple buildings.
When will the Renew Trade button be implemented in the TO?
I predict this will be the most poorly received "changes" in years.
I hope this is step 1 in a 2-step plan for the Pathfinder.
There are items being introduced like 1000 star coin horseshoes, which are only actually useful on a few massive AB adventures, if at all, and then the primary source of star coins for most players is cut in half. I would think this is step one in removing BLT from the game? I will still buy the weekly gems, the premium day, assassins and ROA's, but will skip buying BLT's and just run AB's now. I will never buy that horseshoe...
If this is the direction the game is going, you need multiplayer adventures or ventures in the Excelsior, because you continue to destroy the multiplayer aspects of the game. Note this is not a knock against the EQ campaign or the coming MCC campaign, both are/appear to be excellent content, as are some of the other Excelsior ventures, but they are all one player.
IMO, the pathfinder is the best mechanic in the game... I would actually recommend introducing a mini-Pathfinder at level 50 with maybe three tasks a week so others get to enjoy the variation of gameplay required to meet each weekly set of tasks. I would love to see every adventure obtainable without gems, except for the ridiculously low drop rate follow ups like RBN/MSE/ML/OF, be a potential part of the weekly pathfinder tasks.
Anyway, now that I can get half star coins for little effort, I don't have to finish the PF each week. I have 1900 crystals saved up for the release of the MCC so 15 crystals is not that exciting. I'll do it if it's easy, but the nice thing about PF is that it wasn't always easy and the reward was very motivational.
Anyway, can we get some multiplayer content that isn't a bad coop? Anything that resembles Siege with AB bandits would work, or just regular multiplayer advents.
Boo multiple buildings of the same type decreasing the cool down. Yea! Leveling up buildings. Boo, Blue Byte, Boo!
I don't really mind the increase in Plat needed but why nerf the pathfider? I am with Dave on this. It would be nice if you guys actually added real content instead of whatever you call this fluff.
I completely agree with this; cannot count the times I would not have pushed to get all 9 tasks done with the SOLE purpose of getting those 5k Star Coins -- I assure you, that motivation/inspiration will NOT be there for the measly crystals once I have my nerfed Star Coins for the week. You can kiss running Besieged City or Sinbad and the Sea Snake ever again, and even any coops since they are hard enough to get non-PF players to run them with.
Wrong direction folks.
So, no increase in elite barracks speed? Please allow level 7-8 upgrade, the reliance on recruit guide and egg roll buffs is just plain irritating when we are already using skunks or drills. The Pathfinder change of halved star coins is not inspiring and taking them away seems unfair. Wouldn't it have been better to adjust the cost of items in the star coin merchant, then players could decide what is important for them to buy?
Well what do you expect. I frequently heard people saying they had too much plat ore, and people with pathfinder are drowning in star coins.
My only complaint is the increase in the time & weapons needed to make elite troops. This is already too slow, why make it worse?
The production cost increased, the production time decreased.
The more I look at this update, it seems to me that BB is actively trying to either encourage players to stop adventuring and/or kill the game in its entirety.
Aside from the issue with PathFinder nerfing of the Star Coins which were a part of most 'grinding' players:
- Smelter production requirements?! Okay, we DO have a lot of platinum. Does everyone realize this is doubling for everything?! Coal as well. For all active adventuring/grinding types, this is steep.
- Doubling the cost of the two troops that make the heart of our armies?! Seriously? If you adventure/grind, this is a punishing change. Discouraging even.
- Reducing the time for 2x troop types?! I noticed some peeps suggested that this is a nice off-set. Well, those troops are the LEAST used/needed/required in the arsenal, so that is not really a factor or blessing, more like a back-handed slap.
It seems to me after re-reading the posts, that the peeps cool with the changes to production and rewards, obviously do not adventure much, or only run the occasional WC or 1st/2nd Thief.
BB, what are your thoughts behind these changes that appear to push the active player (well, player who adventures a lot) away from the game?
PS -Anyone 'drowning' in Star Coins, obviously is not spending them. There is plenty of very useful and perishable items in the Merchant which will easily eat up the 5k Star Coins. the FT adventures alone cost 1.5k, and surely most people do not depend on the FT chain to drop enough SLT and BLT to sustain adventuring. Please.
The increase in platinum usage is no big deal given the amount of plat ore in my (and no doubt everybody else's) star menu these days. They had to do something to address the overage and rather than decrease the amount we get in loot they increased the usage.... OK. Coal usage stayed the same, so no worries there. Going from 1 platinum sword to 2 for Mounted Swordsmen? No big deal either.
As far as an increase in elite barracks speed, we'll be able to get the Fortress from MCC which will make elite barracks buffs that increase speed by 500% (X6 buff for the percentage impaired) so there is that on the horizon. It costs a lot of plat swords to make the buff so another resource sink built in or I guess an extension of the same one actually. Since the Epic Forge comes fully loaded with all smelters/swordmakers at level 1, it's easy enough to cover the extra plat swords for the buffs.
Star coins...... Since I haven't made it to pathfinder level yet I can't literally share your pain, but yeah, there's no way to get the lipstick to stick, is there? 15 crystals? 1/2 the star coins? Seriously?
General Mary with Bounty Hunter and Fast Learner pays an ok amount of star coins in Woodpecker, 3rd Thief and probably ToW as well. With prem each can pay over a hundred with no significant increase in losses. It's almost as if she was designed for being the Bounty Hunter general. Master Planner makes no huge difference with Mary due to her low troop count and any other general with Bounty Hunter is a joke. So there's that to console myself with, even tho level 70 is still a long way off and BB might adjust rewards again long before I get there.
The good news is we'll finally get a reward for finding all the collectibles. it's only a few shards, but at least now there's a reason to finish.
There is no increase in coal usage. When I saw the plat increase on test I went back and forth between test and live to see what the differences were. Coal was the same on test. No increase. Also... current usage of coal for a level 6 smelter is 96, changelog states coal usage for level 6 smelter is 96. No change.
As far as doubling the cost of 2 troop types, we only purposely lose 1 of the 2. Losing mounted marksmen is kinda like losing cannons, isn't it? Doubling from 1 plat sword to 2 is a whole lot less punishing than from 10 to 20 would be.
Pathfinder rewards.
There were several great suggestions on how to deal with this on test server including my own. Use more than one set of rewards for pathfinder. There are at least 3 available immediately: current one, the one going live with update and there was a BB alternative on test. These 3 reward sets can alternate or be chosen randomly each week.
BB chose not to make changes.
Not really the point since, unless you be perfect, *stuff* happens and cannons are lost in the course of the game play, and unlike cannons, there ARE camps where MM are needed to perform a sac wave, which there is no such thing as a cannon sac wave.
Well, sure, only doubling the MS lost is still going to crush any player who does adventure a lot. WC loses approximately 155-175 per, so I can run around 4/day with Skunks and keep up, other AB with higher losses, lol, not so much. This is ridiculous. Saying 2 is better than 10 is silly too. At this point, 10 is not much worse than 2.
As I mentioned earlier, it appears the only people who will be hurt are the ones who adventure for the bulk of their TSO time. Those who spend more time in G1, TO and Guild Chat are not likely to be affected much, you are correct. So, it appears BB is 'suggesting' that we adventure less and occupy our TSO time elsewhere.
Halfway thru 68, after a 9 month burnout phase, and these changes don't look promising.
Seriously, changing Pathfinder rewards? 15 crystals? Geez....talk about foolishness. Oh well, always ruining a good thing.
I'm not particularly concerned about production changes, but I'm stingy with my troops. Even though I run 2 adventures a day, I hardly lose anything. I like these resource sinks, though. Finally have something to spend beans on, and now I can start getting rid of 10 million platinum.
I barely even spend any star coins, just gems and rain of arrows for a weekly Wisdom. I'd rather see more things to spend on rather than less supply.
I put bounty hunter on my vets, and just made Mary the same as them but use her when the attack requires 215 or fewer troops.
I'm not PF level yet, but I think people are missing the intent behind offering crystals in the PF loot. This gives you the opportunity to gain additional access to the MCC chain which is only available through excelsior. With 90 pages necessary to get 1 round, I imagine that is somewhere in the realm of 300-500 crystals for access. Assuming someone on premium can get around 70/week in the normal course of events, the extra 15 if done weekly could allow you access to the series every 4 weeks instead of every 5 weeks. Maybe its not huge, but its not of no value.
To put that in context. If you get an average number of obsidian from each round, a person dedicated to PF completion will be able to complete 13 rounds of the series per year in comparison to the non PF player who can only accomplish about 10...this lets you accumulate possibly 30% more obsidian than others, making your collection of new buildings that much more impressive than lower levels who can't access PF or those happy to stop at the star coin reward.
Agreed... i'm level 63. After running 3/4 of the evil queen chain i'm at 7 days to recoup knights and MS... and BB just made them MORE expensive? I never make Sw or Marksmen.. why on earth 1/2 their time.
And more coal use - i have 17 recyclers at lvl 6 that can't keep up... ridiculous.
ciara
Now imagine you are a player just getting to level 50 and above (and yes, they exist). Why make the game harder for them, just so those of us with lots have a new "sink"? Who cares how much is in storage? I'd rather see something NEW for us to spend it on.
I think you are correct on this as it relates to the platinum smelter. That said, making 2 swords WILL still take twice the coal of making 1 sword.
Thank you. That's the most important fact to be highlighted here. Coal usage by the smelter itself (or swordmaker for that matter) does not double. While it's true that 2 swords use twice as much coal, that can be mitigated by throwing a rainbow snow on a plat swordmaker. So now twice as many swords are being produced as when a steak buff is used and the cost hasn't increased.
Speaking only for myself, when I finally get tired of being notified of my storage being full after every YWC I run, I put out trades of plat ore for copper at a 1:1 ratio. Anybody low level that needs plat ore can afford my trades. If people were to trade plat ore for it's actual value (very little) there's no problems for lower levels. Heck, if it really does pose a problem for some, enterprising lower level players can offer coal for plat ore for that matter.
I have no idea why BB did this the way they did, starting with dropping so much plat ore in loot to begin with. BB has a history of doing 3 or 4 really brilliant things while at the same time doing something totally stupid and tossing a banana peel beneath their own feet. Maybe this is just history repeating itself. But overall, this change isn't that big of a deal. And it might spark a little needed activity in TO in the long run.
Hmm. In that case, I will be sending you trades of steak buffs for rainbows, 1:1. ;)
I think platinum ore just increased in value. Might have even doubled. ;)
IMO, this "update" is a giant banana peel, minus the 3 or 4 brilliant things.
