that would be awesome if we can upgrade some of the various residences. Will this include witches tower, white castle, black castle, bone church along with various others or just the ones shown? Edit: I just saw the other post, so scratch out the question on the witch tower. All the rest?
very nice content
i think theres still some balance to be done, theres many discrepancies between upgrade costs and time, but looks good.....much better than those 2 barrack booster things
Also, will this include a magnificent mansion?
Wow this looks cool! You guys are coming up with nice additions, thank you!
yes you can i had a look seems all the pop buildings can be upgraded some have glitches though like the frozen manor have a negative upgrade on first upgrade mag res went from 500 to 600 pop next upgrade is glitched as its hows 0 increase and wont upgrade after that...bone church went from 100 pop to 250 at lvl 6 dark castle went to 200 at lvl 2...overall expensive upgrades but will help loads with population increase.. also the xp off the quests is nice too
Thank you for the info. Hope the bugs get worked out. What was the approx. XP and what were the amount of tokens awarded? If you don't know that is OK and please don't worry about it. I was just curious if (I know it is likely to change) if the token awards were very few or something in the range that every week, I could upgrade a building...or will it take several weeks to be able to upgrade a building due to low rewards?
And this game keeps me hooked... Thank you for forcing me to continue playing...:-P
All the new content these past few months is much appreciated!
Very good idea
This is something that will definitely be adjusted. Currently you can get one that gives 200K XP and 2251 tokens, and the next will give 19K and 25 tokens, but it isn't significantly easier. In fact the first one requires me to delegate 940 swordsmen (yep elite troops) and the second asks for 670 Besiegers and 670 Mounted Marksmen. If that isn't changed I'm sure no one will be doing these quests very much, At least I won't lol
It does sound steep at first glance, but it has a bit of a different view if you compare it with the cost of Ali Baba adventures. Using the EU Wiki for reference, looking at reported lowest possible with blocks:
YWC: 140K, losses 314-2043 (excludes mixed version at last place)
1st T: 125k, losses 275-634
2nd T: 135k, losses 493-1715
3rd T: 159K, losses 455-1523
Against those numbers, the swordsmen quest is not a bad exchange, especially for players who do not have the entire range of generals, fully skilled. The second one would likely be greeted with the delete button regardless.
Add to that the fact that the time for producing swordsmen has been reduced and it's even better. 940 swordsman is a bit over 12 hours (13? 14? IDK) with a skunk. With the other buffs we have available now, it can be much less time.
Yeah, the second one is not attractive in the least.
But this is still overall a good direction. Looking forward to bumping up mag res, etc.
I lose 60 mounted swordsmen on Woodcutter, but for that amount of tokens and a bit of XP, I might consider producing 940 swordsmen as a one off quest.
I fear I may have undersold them when I gave those values. As it stands, I was only listing the final award as it were. Each weekly consists of 6 quests and each of those gives xp as well (but no extra tokens). Of these quests, 3 are 'produce buffs to defeat the foreign ship'. (same thing as Halloween Golems, make number of special buffs, use on ship, clear ship) and the other 3 are produce and delegate and clear objective (ie. do three adventures, make 10000 paper etc.). So overall you will get more than just 200K or 19K (but the same tokens) and the costs will also be higher. My intention was just to show the huge disparity between rewards despite similar high costs, indicating the high likelyhood that it would be changed.
Daily quests are the same sort of thing. I do most of them. I'm not even going to consider giving up 2 manuscripts or dozens of elite troops for a few crystals.
I really like this new content's concept...weekly challenges and upgrading pop buildings sounds like fun.
My notes:
It looks like the Nord Res and FM are both glitched, first upgrade is showing -55. Same upgrade costs.
The Haunted Mansion is not indicating upgrade-able (not sure if that is intended or not).
The RPH is also not upgrade-able (I could hope!). Same for Settlers HQ (with the significant bump from the most recent patch, I would not expect this to upgrade).
Jungle res, colorful tipi, deco colorful tipi, white tipi, deco white tipi, Arabian res, oasis res, watch tower, white castle, witch tower, and bone church are all first upgrade +20. Upgrade costs seem to be grouped by the building's starting pop value...except the bone church did not match the other 100s.
Mag res, dark castle, and Arabian palace are all first upgrade +100. The upgrade costs are vastly different.
The upgrade amount seems to be related to the size of the building spots consumed...2x2, 2x3, and 3x2 are +20 and the larger ones are +100...with some outliers mentioned above.
For the quests, I had one to "Defeat 1 Foreign Ship"...I found the ship but the only button that did anything was the cancel button - not sure how to defeat it :(
Glad everyone is excited for the Weekly Challenges. If you notice any bugs, please be sure to point them out on the Test Server forum, so that they can get attention and be fixed.

It would be nice if buildings like Mag Res changed in look slightly as we upgraded them. for 2 reasons 1) people enjoy buildings as a way to show off Island. Having an Island with upgraded looks is something many people want. 2) for the simple reason when Im looking to see which building to increase pop next on I dont want to have to click on all of them to see which ones still need it.( or perhaps add population to economy overview)
I wasn't in the test server so, I have no clue but, I hope they do change the look. It is not only nice visually but it does make it easier without clicking on each one (just like you said). I am excited about this. Means, I can sort of divert focus to other buildings/space but at the same time, upgrade what, I currently have.
very nice wish we see Weekly Challenges sooner
Artwork takes time. If changing the look of the buildings would delay implementation of the new feature, I say don't do it. Or do it after the fact at some later date.
Alright. I will add the suggestion, just so it could possibly be a future thing.

Last night I fulfilled nearly all of the "food" provisions for the foreign ship. This morning I see the provisions have re-set and I would be expected to start over. This weekly challenge does not sound like an engaging addition to the game, rather a ploy to get us to spend more time and resources. For now, I am going to ignore this "weakly" challenge.
The hotfix auto-completed the first stage of the challenge. Consider that part of it a freebie. Now on to ignoring the second stage.
Mine is sitting on a green check.. however, since it will steak 4k gunpowder, and a ton of other resources. i'm not clicking it.. interestingly the produce quests are incomplete yet its marked ready to complete.
even more fun, every time i come back from another isle or adventure .. its bouncing complete quest.. trying to trap me in to paying all those resources.. and of course there's no delete quest.
BB -- PLEASE tell me how to get it to stop asking me to complete this??? As you can see i did not have the production done.. and i don't even HAVE 4k gp... yet.. it wants everything i have...
i'm up to a 1/2 dozen requests at this point.. and there's 168 hours left???? this is ridiculous.

click complete, Clara_Belle, it will cost you nothing. I did the same, no resources were taken from storehouse... and I got rid of the annoying 'Quest complete'
Fair enough - but you can see my reluctance .. if i did and it Did take the resources - bb could say well you said you pay it :D
and it doesnt bode well for the future.. cause some quests will naturally complete like this on their own... however, since i never want to pay the resources, then i suspect its going to do this same annoying repeated "complete quest" prompt. so, i still think bb needs to allow us to delete them (like dailies).
I was reluctant as well. I'm pretty sure it cost me nothing. I think it has to be green to take them. You know, probably. I also completed the first ship task without fulfilling it.
