An unannounced maintenance two hours into a new event??! And for something that isnt even related to the event. Bad form! Christmas stuff has been sitting there almost two months and you decide now is a good time to lock us out of the game for 6 hours.
Well I hope you fix the event bugs while its down! Some peeps dont even have an event quest chain.
Very disgruntled customer, after waiting a week for event and staying up half the night for it to start.
Yup.. unbelievable. Market group is yet again running unbuffed. explorers are sitting waiting to go out for event loot... and i will not be able to log in b4 work... game will come back while i'm at work (even for most west coasters) and so we loose a day of event play also.
Come on, guys, you should be used by now... we always get an hotfix after the start of the event... any event.
But it has absolutely nothing to do with the event! Its not fixing any glitches or barriers to gameplay. Very trivial reason to take game down with NO notice. They need to plan these things better. Could have done it last week while we were all twiddling our thumbs waiting on latency issues. Could do it 2 weeks from now, between events. Very poor decision making.
This is an UTTER and COMPLETE disaster! How was it ever conceivable that running a Maint two hours into Event was a good thing to do? This Event should either be pushed back even further and not started until the game is READY, or it should be disposed of and cancelled.
Now, with an Event starting at 4am ET but not really "available" until Noon, I'll be losing about a half-day of working on it due to having to go to work today. And, as CB said, let's not forget about Market buffs running out and not being able to refresh them, because of this UNANNOUNCED maintenance.
Remember when BB announced that the Event would be starting sometime soon, and they wanted to let players know so that they could plan for it? Well, how were we supposed to plan for THIS?!?
What a DISASTER! As always, Thanks BB. Another terrible plan on your part. You sometimes make me wonder why I even bother to play this game.
I think this hotfix is because of other bugs, like quest chain not starting for a lot of players. The xmas closure is just something they forgot to do it and it was easy to use it as explanation then to post some other stuff...

The good. I was able to set up building tons of event buffs in provision houses.
The bad. All my explorers were on short searches so I could send them out again before I left for work. Now they came back during maintenance. I also did not get to buff the flower farms with the buff of my choice.

If anyone used those valentine boxes they only run a few hours so peoples flower farms are running unbuffed.
I am also inclined to say just don't run the event if it doesn't work.
I am not going to be a drama queen and saying this is a "disaster", a little warning would have been nice. Especially for the stated purpose of the hotfix. I will guess it also has to do with game play issues as well but.... In the future would you mind not doing this? Glad you are tacking on an extra day, so, I am not worried about missing things (unless the sudden shut down effects something, I had just done before it crashed) but really. Some in game warnings....or wait until the middle of a work day... West coast will wake up with the game in repair but east coast just got bumped from the game in the middle of doing things. That really does suck. Could you at least have worked on the timing of the shut down? Anyway...…. Good luck in the event everyone.
i also believe there was some sort of ulterior motive, not doing Christmas cleanup. If you must make up excuses, can you come up with one not quite so lame? Honesty is always the best policy you guys :\Quote:

Adobe announced in July of 2017 that they would not be supporting flash any longer come 2020. This game runs on flash. BB announced in their Ask Me Anything posts in November of 2017 that conversion of the game to HTML5 was not on the development roadmap.
Everything that has been done up to this point SEEMS to indicate that the game will be shut down at the end of this year - the addition of high end content (new endless mines), the addition of a new event (Valentines), the fact that they won't even say "We know it's an issue and we're working on a solution". All reasons to get players to buy and spend gems before the end of this year.
If honesty was the best policy, we would have an answer to the future of the game by now - at least an assurance to the players that it will be around next year.
As for flash. BB_Alex has stated our plans on the test server already.Quote:

We will not release any HTML5 version of TSO.
However, what will work if the browser stops running Flash is our downloadable client.
The so-called "Slim Browser".
It also does not break a hole in the system because it can not be used for services other than our game.
Beside this, we are sure there will be a lot more browsers running Flash, in some sandbox form.
It is also not confirmed yet in which way Adobe will stop supporting it or if it only affects part of the usable flash.
We will keep you updated, but do not worry yet.

That's a great event they're having, that is a Maintenance Event for the Devs. After 7+ years, I'm sure the code has become a difficult to maintain. And with the Flash issue, good luck... It's really nobody's fault. It's difficult to change anything without ruining everything. It's like trying to fix your old clunker. BB can try to patch what they can, but there is a point where it's hopeless. Now it's an business decision.
p.s. Spaghetti/lasagna code is not an excuse for poor customer service. BB is lucky that they could make it so far.

Could I have a link to this? I would like to see the context of the discussion. Also, the downloadable browser - the "Slim Browser" - doesn't that require that we start the game over? Our current accounts can't be ported over to the downloaded game. Isn't that right?Quote:

Not sure there's much you can do about the market. Great building but has its limitations. I'm willing to live with those. Provides far more than any occasional inconvenience. Best you could do even with some warning would be to stop all those buildings.
Mac? Isn't that the computer they used in that room in the corner in schools in the early 1990s?
I wasn't expecting my explorers to return without event resources. The extra day more than makes up for that I suppose.

WHY, WHY would you have an event quest that requires you to buff (valentine cards) flower farms so late in the overall quest, all farms are already depleted (or even in some cases DELETED)...Bad form. I've been playing this game for a very long time and this is the first time in 6 years I've had to say something about how BADLY an event was implemented. I understand rocky starts and I understand that the flower farms can be fertilized... one would have needed to know to not delete their farms because of an upcoming quest before removing. The cost of the refill is ridiculous. I have always found BB to be fare in the past (you would get positive returns for completing quest) but lately BB has been getting greedy just like in this case I'm disappointed, the price of the refill is too much and there is no point in attempting to finish the event quest. Hope to see some well thought out events in the future and not see this kind of blunder again (this is the sort of event that discourages people and makes them want to leave for good).

Refills are free from most adventures so you must be referring to the fertilizers and those are only needed if you let your farm run empty... which you just shouldn't do.
