Excited for endless iron mines.
I will suggest, however, that if you REALLY want to improve your sales of them, you fix the "Charming Explorer Tooltip" so we know if a deposit can be mined 2x as fast.
How much gems will be endless iron mine?
why only Anslem?Quote:
General Anslem is now correctly effected by the Detailed Star Chart Buff from the Observatory
what about the other generals?
Endless iron mines - Yay!!
"The cooldown of the Meadhall and Scouting Post has been reduced by one hour to improve the timing when used on a regular basis"
I have one scouting post and cooldown currently is 1day 23hrs. Does this mean it will become 1day 22hrs? And if I had 2 it would become 23hrs instead of 23-1/2 as it would currently if a got a 2nd one?
While we are on the subject of cooldowns....... Please, please, please, pretty please: could cooldown timers for items in the Epic Items category of the Merchant be done uniformly?
Currently it's a hodge podge of some items "reduced by one hour to improve the timing when used (bought) on a regular basis" (example: Deer Tracker quest, Ballista) and items on a strictly x number of days format which leads to the time creeping (example: Gem Package, Mystical Horseshoes). It doesn't seem like it would be difficult to implement and would be a huge improvement.
I suspect that the cooldown is not going to change at all with this change. This change is the update that just happened on test being passed along to live. However, live server had these cooldowns reduced about a month ago and were not listed in the changelog. Test server was not changed to 1h23 until a few days ago. I'm pretty sure when they wrote up the changelog, they weren't paying attention and just copy/pasted and kept the part that says it will be reduced. I mean why update test to 1h23 if you are just going to update live to 1h22 a few days later? Heck why update live to 1h22 at all? That doesn't really do anything.
I guess we'll see.
My observatory does not appear to work at all, on LS (SLT wth MMA and Nus), my own adventures (Tikki multiple gens) and co-ops (multiple gens). I will gladly blame it all on Anslem if fixing him fixes the rest of them.
I just find it sad that you think that Anslem is the only general that needs fixing wrt the Observatory. I guess you still don't have people testing this stuff? It's a real simple test, I'll even tell you how to do it (in my career I have several times led a team of testers for a software product, so I feel qualified to have a stab at this): Note: this test assumes some familiarity by the person performing the test with the game and the game mechanics!
1. Activate the Observatory - for the sake of the test, activate using the detailed star chart - expected result is that travel time should be reduced by 75%
2. Start an adv - any adv will do
3. Click "send Army" on adv tab and select a general - note the travel time displayed e.g. 15min (we have no idea whether Obs changes this time at this point of the game or not at this step since we have never seen the Observatory work for ANY general, so lets just assume that the time is the "before Observatory time" )
4. start a stopwatch and click the tick button to actually send the general
5. Time how long it actually takes the generals to arrive at the adv (do this by watching the adv and when the general lands stop the stopwatch)
6. Get a calculator and work out the % of actual travel time versus the time from step 3 - if the Observatory is working then the value should be 25% (travel time has been reduced by 75%). Note that the time it takes for the general to actually start traveling i.e. the time to "unland" and walk to the nearest storehouse may cause some slight adjustment to be made to this calculation - so look for a reasonable approximate 25% of the 15min
Repeat Steps 1 - 6 for each of the other travel times shown in the Observatory i.e. reduce travel time by 25% and 50%, substituting the selected % travel time reduction for the "75%" value specified in Steps 1 - 6.
I hereby give BB permission to use this test procedure and treat it like their own - although no care or responsibility by the author is assumed for any damages etc that may result from using this procedure e.g. insanity from trying to get the Observatory to actually work......
But if the best you can do with this change is Anslem, then we'll just have to accept it. Any idea whether you are going to do the rest of the generals supported by the game? and when they might be fixed? Do you think you'll do them all in one go or maybe roll them out on a sequential basis? If the later, over what time frame?
P.S. This is what I would accept as a very basic/minimal test procedure, it should be expanded to include such variables as: is the general skilled or not? Quarter Masters (skilled and unskilled), QuarterMaster Claus (skilled and unskilled) etc etc
Actually you don't need to do all that. When you start the obs and then the adv, the times it shows on the send army are already the reduced times. But those don't matter. Once you go to the adv you just open star and hover over the general and it will tell you what their arrival time actually is. No stopwatch needed.
For me, everyone but the QM had their regular travel time (as in normal without obs bonus) and the QM had the reduced time. However while those with the reduced time actually arrived faster, they then suffered from the constant rebuilding bug as soon as they landed and it lasted until they would have normally arrived. It is as though they game only sped up the time till i could see them but not the time until I could use them.
Actually, you do need the stopwatch :-) It is not unknown for the displayed times in the game to be, well, for want of a better word, wrong :-) Witness the times that the RPH states things such as manuscripts will be built - no idea whether it has been fixed, but it used to be demonstratively wrong. But it was never something that overly concerned me - I mean it is what it is. Other than possibly affecting some RL planning, it doesn't really matter.
You stated that Gen Anslem would now work with the Normal Star Chart from the Observatory. In my experience, the Observatory does not decrease the travel time to any adventure for any General. So, why just focus on Gen. Anslem?
Why BB does things the way you do doesnt always make sense to us players. We are not programmers and don't see the problems and work behind the scenes.
We just want the game to go smoothly. I can't imagine the issues involved in constsntly adding new code to an old program. I'm sure BB will get most of the big issues worked out eventually.
The source code for TSO is probably poorly documented and extremely convoluted.
What I am seeing is petulance and a thin skin in the point of contact between a business and its customer base.
This comment is actually far more discouraging than any of the technical problems with the game. It is a very bad omen when the face of the company thinks a cheeky customer is more of a problem than glitches with the product.
Guess it's time to slowly disassociate from the Settler world.
"So you don't want the fix is what I am seeing from this. Will note this down.

This is exactly what they want ^^
BB's reply was unprofessional and immature.
When are they going to fix the observatory? I don't see it on the list. It still does not work on any of the generals travel times.
We actually are fixing the problem that is going on with the observatory. It is starting with the one general, but there will be additional changes done in the background to help with the others. Once we receive the update we would like to have additional feedback for those generals that are still having issues. This will help us in seeing which ones are having issues and which are not. It does not mean we are not fixing them, but a general fix might not fix them all.

A little bit of context goes a long way.
At this point it's possible, at least in my opinion, that BB_Odhran was attempting to make a joke in response to Artemis69. You guys can pile onto him all you want, but it's been my experience that he's responsive and helpful to those of us that need it.
Keep in mind he's a go between. He has no control over anything BB does yet has to deal with complaining and mild hostility 24/7/365. That's the job. Any of you guys want it or think you can do it better?
It was a not entirely successful attempt at malicious compliance imo.
I would like to see weekly challenge that requires co-op mission to be replaced with a multiplayer option instead. co-op maps are the worst.
Not sure what point you are trying to make here, other than maybe the original comment was posted a while ago, but my response was in regards to RonEmpires post which was only made yesterday. I only included the original comment because responding to "agreed" doesn't really show what he was agreeing to and leaves it a bit confusing, much like your comment is.
Was the observatory actually tested? DOES NOT WORK AT ALL....no further research necessary!
:P I forgot about the emojis. I should of truly done a better job with it, but yes it was an attempt at humor. The Dev's have truly been working hard to fix as much as they possibly can, but they do run into issues and thus I do take a lot of that frustration from everyone. They have a rough time as well, as they don't want to have code failing or not working properly, but it does happen.

I disagree. The Valentine Event was the first time I really did co-ops. I actually really enjoyed them! It was a fun change to the game.
Agree with Strider! My wife and I had 2 guides for Lakeside Treasure. 1 for COA's. 1 for MMA's. We could buff each others flower farms, then do 6 LT's in the 3 hours by running them back to back with the alternate generals. Granted, both of us are burned out and haven't run any adventures since the event. But at the time, it was a fun way to spend an evening.
As far as co-ops in the weekly....... I just skip that one. I'll take a spot here and there to help out guildmates, but I don't like having to run 3 Whirlwinds myself so don't do it. Don't like having to run 3 ToW's for that matter. After doing it twice skip those now as well. Needless to say, I don't do many weeklies.
