LOL. I thought TSO was a progressive game. I guess, game developers still have a long way to go...

So did we ever figure out what's considered a "mini-mission" for the friar tribute?
Dark preists, Bastille, Pirate life, Tikki, Sleeping Volcano, Sleepy reef, Bounty Hunter, Tropical Sun, Lost Skull, Spring to mind, basically those which say mini mission when you hover mouse over them in star.
There is also a SE achievement which gives the tribute if you don't use certain troops which means you can have 2 of these Tributes.
I have posted a guide for Bastille in 14 mins with observatory on the EU forums
I've been doing Lost Skull. 4 attacks with 2 generals (Vargus/Boris or Anselm/Nusala) for about 40r lost. Or you could just run with nothing but recruits for probably still under 100. Sleeping Volcano looks just as simple and with lower losses. I'd have run Tikki for the XP, but I burned all of them about a month ago.
Bastille Island, Dark Priests, and Arctic Explosion are 3. There are more but don't know which ones.
"Run 25 Mini Adv = Arctic Explosion, Bastille Island, Sleepy Reef, The Lost Skull, Tropical Sun, Sleeping Volcano, The Dark Priests. This building honours the tenacity of your friars. Spurred by the praise more brew gets produced. Produces 4 Brew every 6 minutes."
unfixed observatory - after your hotfix i can no longer use the obs - used to be i could at least use it with 1 or the other type by themselves (ie only santa, or only qm - otherwise the rebuilding would occur).
now i sent santa - by himself - i didnt see what he did on adv as i was afk .... but came back - sent him home.. now i'm watching him continuously rebuild.. based on past it will be 90 mins of this bs. no i didnt send any qm's etc - just him.
So sick of paying for stuff that doesnt work and isn't given any priority to fix. just event after event with more buggy stuff released.
I think the priority has recently been getting the login issues fixed, which I for one am exteremely grateful to have resolved. Now they can start to worry about the other stuff.
The best mini mission is Dark Priests by far - if you have someone to do it with. Start adventure, invite them, one player sends an MMA loaded with R, the other a Nus loaded with R, move to the open center area, send the mma direct to the bone church and the Nus direct to the castle. All intercepts will occur, and you're done.
i tested both qm and santa separately... both now rebuild constantly w/ obs running until their respective Original booked time is lapsed.
Didn't realize how small these storage towers are. These could serve as a bit of an efficiency boost by being able to be placed where nothing else can. I'll pick up a few of these with whatever soccer balls I have left after specialists and training fields and licenses. Not touching the residences.
you should be able to cash in extra match buffs BEFORE event ends -- that way you can share with friends who need the collects to make theirs.
All those 1x1 buildings are amazing!!!
1000 balls for upgrading the summer wondrous? oh, come on!
For what it's worth, about halfway through the event I began to lose interest once it became obvious that the merchant items appeared deliberately priced to make it nearly impossible to get more than one or two items unless one devoted most of their waking hours to playing, or had the extra cash to pay for gems to buy soccer balls. Some of us have real lives that don't allow for 8-12 hours of constant game play and most of us can't afford to drop hundreds of dollars here. As the way of other events have run, this one has lost most of it's enticement. There is challenging, and then there is gouging. This borders on the latter.
I've had no problem getting everything I wanted, though I won't or am not particularly interested in trying to get everything. Specifically the crazy overpriced population buildings. At least there is a freebie floater on the final day. I've got 15k free population. No need to chase after it. Same philosophy I have with the awful weekly challenges, though the subquest tokens from the ship are a nice slow stream.
3 new explorers (and another one from the joyous bundle), a geologist, 5 building licenses, 2 training fields (the incitement buff is quite nice), quest snack stand, and whatever is left going into a bit of storage. I have been adventuring a lot more than usual, but most of that is from sending explorers, which, admittedly, is becoming more and more tedious the more we get as lack of a send all button becomes an increasing quality of life problem. Plus a ton of extra XP and loot, not to mention the massive resource production boost from the premium friend buff. I'm satisfied.
I invested a lot of money on TSO in the past. I don't regret my investment but to have to buy more gems to obtain everything from this event is a bit much.
40 hours a week on this game and still not even close to getting enough Soccer balls ? I think the items are a bit over-priced. Still I'll keep trying at the loots till the event is over.
agreed. Day 2 i decided i would consider this a bonus xp event . ... took the pressure off. whatever i get .. i get. i know i'd LIKE to get it all. but never gonna happen. and i'm not paying real money / gems for it.
i got everything plus 12 towers so far and didnt use gems using the PFB and making alot coinages before event i had them going non stop using the coin to buy the balls there is no way you can farm enough just isnt possible so i planned ahead and just stuck to doing ywc for the xp
"Seasonal XP adventure boost added - all adventures give 3x more XP and 2x more loot (excluding buildings/buffs)"
When does this end, during removal? or during complete deactivation? I read Dev'd Diary, it doesn't say.
On the new storage tower window, the text reads "Unlocks an additional buff" instead of saying how much storage is added with the next upgrade.
Like you I've invested a fair amount (only fair to keep the server lights on over the years), but when BB has an acknowledged issue with logins and I can't get on for well over a week in total...on an Event that basically *requires* active play...that makes me grumpy. I knew this was going to be an Event that I could grind away at so I lined up the Premium Friend Buff, Premium Time, and was waiting for a Happy Hour to drop $100 on Gems...
Then pretty much half of the event and at least half the time I had the Premium Friend Buff running the game was unavailable due to the same login issues that have plagues TSO for the last four months. On top of that, all the wasted Prem time while I couldn't get on, and that doesn't even start to touch the huge losses in L6 Coiners and Powderhuts running unBuffed...day after day after day.
BB's response?
"Gee that sucks. We hope you keep playing."
OK, gonna start with the good.
The Archeological Geologist is awesome. I do granite searches every morning so they worked out perfectly for me. And they've brought back some great buried treasue so far. The worst thing they bring back is a gold fever, there's not a cheese sandwich to be found. So Bravo!!
The Treehouses are beautiful, the coolest looking pop building so far.
And the Storage Towers are excellent! I've been able to do a little consolidation/rearranging on my island making use of previously marginal spaces. I'm very happy with them. And they are also another one of the coolest looking buildings in the game…. at level 5. Level 6?? Meh! Who put that doghouse on top of a previously beautiful structure?
Being able to get an additional Demolition Crew for balls was a very nice touch. Thank you.
And that sums up what I was able to afford this time. 2 geos, 2 treehouses, a demo crew and 5 storehouses.
So now for the bad.
There's a line between “Wow, this is kinda hard, but at the same time it's challenging and fun” and “Pfffttt…. There's no way to do this no matter how hard I work at it”. In my opinion this event crossed that line.
I've been watching and participating in the progression of Events getting a little harder each time this year. And I've been ok with that because hard but still doable is fun and put a little excitement back into events that had been getting too easy and even kinda boring for someone with every available explorer. Easter Event was the culmination of that hard, but fun & exciting experience.
Then comes the Summer Event. This Event was actually a little demoralizing. The ratio of balls earned to prices was way out of balance.
I ran the Event with 40 scouts. Since I have 4 Courageous and 1 Candid Scout, all of which bring back double loot, in that 40, this is more or less the same as having 45 scouts.
26 of them did 3 medium, 1 long, (and most of the time), 1 short search every 24 hours. 9 Luckys and Zoe did 2 long and 1 very long every 24 hours. Candid did 2 mediums and 1 short and the 3 taverns did 2 mediums every 24 hours.
All of those scouts doing all of those searches, which required dilligent attention every day for 3 weeks, brought back 620 to 650 balls evey 24 hours. Seriously!! That's anywhere from 25% to 40% less than any other event so far (with a few less scouts during those events) and in combination with prices being very high in the merchant.
Adventures?? The payouts on those sure wasn't anything to write home about either.
So granted…… there were “distractions” built into the event: doing 25 minis to get a Friary Tribute – triple experience – double loot. So rather than be bummed that my list of purchases was going to be pretty small compared to past events, I got busy distracting myself working for the tribute. And when a conversation with a guild mate made the light go on that MCC was gonna drop double Obsidian, well, it was all over and I ran 4 full MCC chains which got me 2 Meadhalls, a Nords Res and took me to 71 with all the xp.
With the prospect of getting enough balls to get what I wanted being so bleak, these distractions saved the event for me. Otherwise it would not have been much fun at all.
Well I don't think the triple XP was a good idea at all. Those of us that have invested years playing, and enjoying, the game, have worked hard to get to the lvl's we are at. Now a new player jumps in and gains 50 lvl's in a 15-17 day stint!! Not fair at all to the older tenured players. I do understand that BB is trying to raise cash, since the interest in the game is dropping. And we all have asked the question...what happens when flash is no longer supported....
The next 2 events, and maybe the crisis coming up will tell the tale. Pay $$$$$ to play is probably next.
Well, I liked the bonus xp for adventures, it actually had me running them which I haven't done in a while. Adventures gave so few soccer balls that I'm not sure how anyone would get most of the event rewards without just spending a bunch of real money.
Oh wait, that's what BB is focusing on now, I forgot.
If you can and want to gain 50 levels during an event, more power to you. That puts you about 0.3% of the way to level 75. It took me I guess about a year and a half to reach 50. I was deliberately slow about it, and back then that was the level cap. I was happy to slowly experience each new aspect of the game, since almost every level at that stage unlocks a new building, specialist, and/or skill.
I wasn't running adventures specifically for event resources because they were so limited. 40 soccer balls for Woodcutter is silly. At two a day with premium, it would amount to about 2400, enough to buy an explorer, so there is some value to it, but a far cry from the 70k of items on offer. I did like the XP bonus, though. I'm at level 73 and have grown tired of the grind, so I only run an adventure or two each week. During the event, it gave me a reason to run a lot more adventures than usual. I probably wouldn't have bothered just for the event resources.
I liked the event (any event is better than no event) but the 3x XP (while very nice, don't get me wrong) made it feel a bit rushed; perhaps 3x XP should be for only a select group of adventures, similar to how the Black Knights event was run? As it was, the best adventure to run was Woodcutter, which is already a very good one. Or maybe there should be a "weekly" adventure (one for each level range in the Weekly quests, for example) that gets 3x XP and 2x loot; even outside of events. Make it worthwhile to run some of the adventures nobody runs.
The balls didn't drop enough, and the collectibles (shoes, etc) dropped too much. I would have halved the amount of collectibles and doubled the amount of balls (the balls felt like the event wasn't doubling them).
As it was I can't complain, I got way more than I thought I would, but that was because I happened to find a Harbor Tower and sell it for 20k balls. Even without that I would have gotten what I wanted; but I feel it could have been a bit better.
The friend buff is very nice, even with the bugs.
I had hard time logging in at the begining, took 8+ hours with random refreshing of the page, so I missed out on few things like completing some of the achievements and having enough time to do more adventures, but I managed to get few items. I only wish we could upgrade the buildings instead of getting more of them to speed them up (no wonder there are issues with loading times).
On positive side - extra xp points were nice, love my treehouses and new faces on my geo/explorers page. Wish this event was "kicking around" for a little longer :)
In past events, I have been able to get most of what I wanted and still had a few hundred or so left over to help out the lower level players in my guild. This time however, everything was so ridiculously high priced that I was barely able to manage getting the 3 explorers.
I suggest that the event specific adventure loot should have been collectibles instead of explorer loot. Those such as myself who have loads of explorers have a huge excess of those items and are lacking in the collectibles (those who don't have many explorers can get good deals on explorer loot in TO).
Also the payout for balls in completed adventures seems to have been much lower than in the past.
There wasn't anything in the Merchant that I particularly wanted; did pick up a couple of things anyway and by trading (had to use up my balls on *some*thing!); gave the remainder of my balls to a Guild member!
not sure if this has been addressed, but I was curious about the price of the improved floating residence @ 4299 soccer balls while during the Christmas event it was priced at @ 1495 presents!
Seems like a very unreasonable price hike for a residential building from one event to another especially considering the wondrous residence was 5995 balls and maybe there is a reason I'm not seeing, I know the drop between events is different but look at it this way
Wondrous Residence Easter Event = 9995 eggs
Wondrous Residence Summer Event = 5995 balls
but
Improved Floating Residence Xmas event = 1485 presents
Improved Floating Residence Summer event = 4299 soccer balls
anybody see what I'm saying?
Items priced far too high, and not enough event "currency" could be earned with Adventures. Seems like this has been the case since the Halloween event, where it is almost necessary to spend Gems to get stuff. However, even though this has been mentioned by many people since the Halloween event, it only seems to be getting worse. Extra XP was nice, but that benefit is far outweighed by not being able to get Event items without spending Gems (in my opinion).
I suspect that they put "too much stuff to buy" as part of their strategy - they need something for the big players to buy so that event items don't flood the market; soccer balls have not dropped in price as much as eggs did, for example.
Loved the extra xp on every adventure. Completing 25 mini missions was different but a bit too much, maybe 15 next time? Soccer balls very hard to come by, just not enough to get what i wanted. that was frustrating. but the extra ex was worth it and I ran a whole lot of adventures but still not enough balls.
I've been playing for several years and had a hard time getting enough balls. I hate thinking how bad it would have been for newer players with fewer resources, and fewer gens. It appears the event was set up to cater to the upper lvls and forgot the new.
The game would be so much better if you removed collectibles entirely.
Flags for a bunch of african nations but you lack a lot of flags for countries where your players actually live. Someone is really bad at game design.
This event might have been fun for those on both premo and with the friend buff. The rest of us could hardly afford anything.
I used to play tso 24/7, now I'm actively looking for different games.
Overall I liked part of the event for two reasons:
1: What you could get in the event was excellent, new geo's explorers and res etc..
2: The higher xp and loot from adv made me want to do more adv.
What I didn't like:
1: The cost of what we could buy was ridiculous! I have played a while now and had high end resources I could sell to make up for the shortfall but there was no way new players in the game could get more than a couple of items. I understand you don't want everyone being able to buy everything but the costs this event actually made me not want to play at times. If this trend continues.. I wont be playing the game at all. I did a lot of adv (about 6+ a day) gaining around 100mil xp this event but even with the improved loot drop the ball drop was a drop in the ocean compared to the cost of what could be bought this event.
Please readdress this, challenging is fun but this became about as fun as a colonoscopy.
I do like that BB is offering many different events throughout the year, each with their own special items to get. I appreciate their efforts in changing things up and trying new things to try and keep us entertained. I liked that the items we received for the calendar each day a window was opened seemed a little more generous and useful things compared to previous calendar 'winnings' for other events in the past.
I did think the cost of the items to get during this event was very expensive based on the number of soccer balls you could accumulate with your explorers and/or doing the various adventures however. I basically decided after a few days of doing the event that I would only focus on getting the new explorers, and maybe try for the 2 new Geo's and forget about the rest of the items that were offered. Instead I would treat the event simply as a way to get bonus xp with the triple xp event bonus, and figure out what to get with whatever soccer balls I accumulated later. Unfortunately this time I wasn't able to check out any of the new buildings offered due to how expensive they were (plus the fact that for some of them you needed to spend even MORE balls to upgrade them seemed very excessive to me). Not only is this a bit disappointing, but I think it resulted in a lot of people having no chance of seeing those new buildings 'in action', which I'm sure BB worked hard at developing.
Lower level players really struggled to get even a couple of things, and instead of me scrimping and saving to MAYBE being able to get 1 of the new buildings, I instead helped a couple of lower level guildies get a new Explorer and/or Geologist, which would be extremely helpful to them.
I too wish Canada was better at soccer so I could get a Canadian flag to put on my island someday.
