How about we can settle more islands.
It would be nice to have a private trades tab (in the trade office) for guilds and their respective members.
Please add a option to send all explorers or at least all explorer types on treasure/adventure searches at one time.
Congrats on 10 years. I see a lot of good ideas being talked about and hope a few of them might be implemented into the game. Biggest idea being talked about that i would like to see in game is away to send groups of explorers out in groups. Don't always have the time it takes to send out 50+ explorers so sending out as a group would be a big help. Hope to see this game around for a few more years.
Something like FOE antique dealer were we can exchange unused stuff. Especially untradeable buildings and specialist.
Move groups of items to the top of the queues instead of one at a time. When you have 30 tomes to move it's tedious.
make buff buildings stackable or mergable and change there look as you stack like leveling up normal buildings. Buildings like the oil mill, after so many stacks becomes an oil refinery with all six buffs. Or make them 1x1, I have a ton of buildings I can't place. I'm certainly not using a oil refinery. the sick bay is 1x1.
+1000 fantastic idea. Having to get multiple buildings just to increase production speed is bad for both parties. We lack the land to place more and they miss out on people getting more...because they lack the space to place them. Letting the buildings "merge" is an absolutely fantastic idea.

I couldn't agree more. It's like you have two personalities battling for control of the game. One wants to make it fun but have to work at it and the other says "just give them everything, for a price." It's so contradictory.
You raised the level limit and used ridiculously large xp amounts so that it would take people a long time to reach the new levels, but then you added new troops and new generals and new adventures that gain huge amounts of xp. So you effectively counteracted your own design.
You are worried about people having excessive amounts of accumulated resources and then you create new buildings for nearly every chain that produce goods at ridiculous speeds.
People complain for years about broken things "in game" and you devote all of your resources to creating new content rather than fixing what is there.
If you have no intention of fixing the old adventures to make the useful, just delete them already and take out all of the guild quests and things forcing people to do them. No one wants to search for people in trade tab all day so they can find enough people to do two Whilrwinds because people don't like that adventure to start with.
Delete PvP entirely, it is a completely failed idea.
Buy a copy of the 1978 Advanced Dungeons and Dragons Dungeon Master Guide and read the section on "Game Balance."
All hail Gary Gygax!
Esp with the Explorers. For the love of the game, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE implement mechanics that make it where we can send out groups of explorers on tasks rather then having to do several clicks on each.and.every.single.one. of our explorers. Some of the long timers have well over 60 explorers. A suggestion on how it could work. Make the mechanic where we select a search type & length. Then a list of all eligible explorers for the search come up. And we then select all expos we want to send on the particular search
However, we must be able to save this grouping somehow, otherwise, each time they go out, I am STILL clicking on each gen one or more times.
I basically stopped playing regularly because of the 'too much clicking' mechanics in the general, explorers, buffs, and other areas of game. My brain kept arguing with me "This is like work!"
I would like there to be a search bar in the general send window, so we don't have to scroll through the list searching for which gens we want to send, and the explorers could also have a window like the gen send window, also with a search bar. I also would like the sound effects to be customizable. This game does not require direct constant attention to play, and I absolutely detest hearing the sound effects of a general reaching a camp and attacking, or winning an attack, or really any sound effects but the initial drum roll one when the attack is sent, which is used for timing blocks. So many sounds in this game are abrasive and unnecessary. We should also be able to customize those terrible in game notification banners that appear next to the avatar and interrupt fluid gameplay when the magnification needs to be far away. Those are also unnecessary. We don't need to know a general that we sent to do an attack is in fact doing what we sent it to do. We don't need to know that it defeated a camp when the camp disappears and the gen is returning. We don't need to hear or see anything about that. Get rid of the redundancy, and the annoying excess of sounds and notifications.
A couple that have popped into my head:
1. When resources are required to build something (i.e. Prov house), and I don't have the necessary amount of resources, instead of showing me how many is required in red, how about show me how many I'm short. That way I don't have to cancel the operation, go to my storehouse and check to see how short I am.
2. How about a new general, General Science. This cat would be able to carry all the resources I need for the adventure TO THE ISLAND, and MAKE THEM THERE. No more traveling back and forth unnecessarily.
3. Once again, how about implementing the UI I suggested years ago that lets me assign explorers and geos in a more comprehensive manner? I still have that image somewhere.https://live.staticflickr.com/1450/2...08d384bb_b.jpg
4. As already mentioned, a barracks to house gens instead of retrenching them. Let them be kitted out and housed in the barracks.
5. A Foreman character who would record assignments for explorers and geos, essentially stackable orders.
6. Some type of character or something that would let me assign x number of preferred loadouts, such as assigning troops/generals for specific adventures. For instance, we all have our own preferences for advs like Woodcutters. This would let us preset those loadouts, and then with a mouse click or two, loadout the gens and send them off to the slaughters.
That's a few for now.
I have 57 geologists, how about utilizing them as explores. I only use 17. I have 78 generals, only use 17. It would be nice to use the extras for something.
This....for Geos, explorers and generals..... THIS would be perfect. Also like stated before a building so all the generals would return to it and make some room on the island. Also....The ability to move warehouses. This has been asked for...forever. As long as a warehouse is in a zone then any other warehouse should be able to be moved. Especially now with lvl 7 buildings, you shouldn't penalize players with hard to come by resources by making them demolish a lvl 6 building or god forbid, a lvl 7 building. Especially since players get chump change for resources back in demolishing said building. Another thing, another way to get XP. Buildings should come into it. A base value per tier and then times it by the level. Some of us have spent A LOT of time and effort on our islands and for me personally it sucks seeing players who have time to adventure a lot with islands with very few lvl 6 buildings and who get more perks because they spent there time on adventures and are several levels above mine with nothing to show for it but a lvl and the benefits that come with said lvl.
Many great suggestions, such as sending multiple explorers at the same time--the clicking is quite bad, ergonomically.
I don't want any more generals. Too many as it is. I don't want any more geologists. I am sad I can't use the ones I grew fond of ;-), as it no longer makes sense.
If you have any interest in making PvP viable, then I recommend emphatically that a player be able to keep their conquered island far longer before it is no longer immune from attack. There just aren't enough resources recouped during the very short time your island is safe. I completed the maximum level 30 and was given the Black Marshal, but no point in ever using him or continuing on. I would like to finish the achievements, but not in the current situation. The outlay of resources is terrible for the reward of keeping an island a tiny part of the week.
During festival quest chains, stop making us do silly things, like apply fish platters or divert explorers to find adventures, the kind of things that are counter intuitive to a festival and the higher level players.
Stop forcing so many co-ops on us...and bringing back so many from adventure searches.
BubbaClaudius's proposed UI is wonderful!
Thanks for listening.
BlueByte, Ubisoft and TSO Developers, PLEASE give us something more concrete than what's currently out there. I am personally both worried about the future of this beloved game, and also am becoming despondent with the constant negative comments about whether you're even doing anything to move into 2021 with the game intact and functioning. Many, many of us love this game and the community it brings into our lives, but there are many people out there who remember the Anno Online debacle, and are judging accordingly. PLEASE give us something definite regarding the efforts to save this game and take it into 2021 and beyond. In hope, and thank you.
Following some suggestions, I made an update in 1st post.
Please keep posting your ideas & suggestions for the new features/improvements.
From the original post: " A detailed plan for the transition phase will be shared in the upcoming months."
You realize you don't have months to make a plan, right? You realize you have roughly 3 1/2 months to port this game to another format. If you don't have a plan already then seems very likely you will not get this done before flash goes away. Like others have mentioned, seems WAAYYY too last minute for this to even feel like a viable option for this game. And, like others, not spending another dime on this game until I know for sure it will be continuing.
At least tell people what technology you are porting to. Tell us a time-frame. Something!
I would mainly hope that the game would continue to be playable on Macintosh.
I also have a friend who no longer plays because he no longer keeps his Steam account. It would be nice if there were a way to divorce his Settlers account from the Steam platform so that he could continue to play once again.
I feel you need to look at, as I just did, the age of the players that are responding. There are a few that played closed beta and a few that started right after open beta started. The people that played then have made it so players can start and in months be at level 50, which took us years, and working together to learn this game. It seems that is being lost and so many have no clue how to play this game, which cool if that works for them. I would like to see a little more focus on slowly moving up again and actually learning this game, not just begging a high player to give them the resource to finish a quest.
I agree the changes from 2011 to today is huge.
I personally would love to be able to say send all explorers out for a 24 hour search, at once. I do not believe anyone ever thought we would end up with so many explorers, generals, or geologists.
I would also suggest a hidden star tab, where we could put items/specialists we do not use anymore.
As always more and new adventures is always a good thing too.
Thank you for working on the flash issue and congrats on 10 years!
Challenges don't challenge in this game, they just require a ridiculous amount of patience or actual real world money. If you solved your money issue in some other way(subscription) than trying to get us to buy gems all the time, then maybe you could actually put some of your developmental brain power and resource to making the game more interesting and actually mentally challenging instead of just finding ways to do more of the same within the boundaries of this platform, to generate your income. For instance, who decided that during this community event, ventures which are limited to one player action would be the forte of the celebration rounds? This is a community event, why would that requirement not be with multiplayer adventures of some sort? Why is the one thing in a community event that is communal is that we are all contributing to the same pot, but nothing else? The future development of this game has to be a focus on the actual development of the game, which will bring more players, and not on what seems to be an attempt to get what you can in case it all ends. There is so much potential that this game idea has, which creative minds could deal with nicely.
I play both on Linux & Windows systems. I would like the dropping of Flash and better support for High DPI monitors! I have to "downgrade" my display settings in order to see the game - or hook up my laptop to a 1080p display. If this was a Windows only game, I may not continue - most of my personal computers run Linux 90%+ of the time.
Having the game on a phone or tablet (Android) not sure if it adds anything for me - the game really needs a decent screen. Chromebook might be OK.
I wish the game would allow one to cancel buffs (esp. in this event) w/o resorting to a anti-buff.
I've seen some really great suggestions in the previous posts, and I would like to add a few of my own, either that I haven't seen, or in support of others' previous posts:
- Make it so that one person can run two adventures at once, and/or join two or more loot spots at once.
- Make Tokens easier to obtain, or do away with them altogether and make all the buildings upgradeable for materials and resources.
- Make Premium Coins giftable and tradeable.
- Allow us to be able to select a group of generals or specialists, either on the map or in the star menu, to issue movement or task commands to a group, instead of one by one.
- Make the Horseshoe effects work equally fast on travel from a garrison to an attack and the travel to the garrison/location change.
- Make the Science System refundable by tier, instead of having to refund the whole page to change one book. (Someone suggested a blank manuscript plan that was brilliant in a previous comment).
- Make the non-buffable specialty buildings (Snack Stand, Adventure Bookbinder, Sickbay, etc.) buffable with something, or shorten the production times. It costs far too much for many of us to be able to get additional buildings to speed up production, and even with the extra buildings, production still takes far too long.
- Give us more ways to earn gems in-game.
I was reading a comment in which someone suggested subscription instead of gem purchases. I would like to say that one of the reasons I and many like me enjoy this game so much is that it is not subscription-based. I have played subscription-based games in the past, but have had to leave them in recent years due to financial constraints. I love TSO because I do not have to pay a subscription to access everything anyone else can get. I just have to wait longer for it because I have to earn the gems over time to pay for some of those things.
I would also like to support the idea regarding a new system for generals and specialists that BubbaClaudius posted. I like the looks of the table system in his post. It would be much more effective and easier to use.
Thank you all for the work you put into this game. I am looking forward to seeing what the future holds.
Most of these things sound good, I would be especially interested in more space
I would rather have a separate island or landing platform for the generals. I don't want them retrenching because it will be a pain to then make that additional step putting them on the island first to assign troops. Imagine doing that when you are chain running 4 babas on scout.
And I don't care if they make a special manager for explorers but to me that would be a waste of space and just not something I would use the way you describe it.
Maybe I'm dreaming, but what about some ships to travel between Islands
Possibly moving some of the resources to other Islands as in the old Anno game.
Island space is awfully tight even when running a minimal Island, however, I don't advocate a return to slumming
About the only thing I really have to say is stop making buildings we have to install 6 of to speed them up. There are an increasing number of these, most recent being the oil mill and refinery. Not only are they unnecessarily expensive beyond the 1 or 2 which you can win in-game, they take up too much space. The refinery isn't even a production building in the same way as other resource buildings, it's producing buffs, like the provision house.
I get that you want players to spend $$ to support the game but forcing it like this is not a good way to do it - I do spend some money in the game (e.g. to have a premium account), but buying multiple copies of the same building at a not insignificant price, with the likelihood that in the future more buildings will be like this, is not something I will be doing. If this trend continues then I will eventually get bored with it and cease playing, and paying, entirely.
+1 to this. The big problem is the generals move around all over the place. If there was an area set aside where generals camped, not available for general building, and the generals always returned to that area (ideally, to the spot they left from, so they stayed organised) that would be better. Having them retrench would be a pain.
I have to many Generals and would like to be able to fire them or sell them.
I agree a Ctrl A to select all the Explores would be awesome and time efficient.
The Future is bleak.
By now we should have seen something, work in progress but a game with new engine. And since we didn't see anything I don't know if we can except anything at all. unless they decided to surprise us all one day, but doubt that.
Hopefully game wont be abandoned after flash death but nothing seem to point in other direction. For now keep your $ don't spend much 'because you can be very surprised :)
A new barracks for mercenaries (or two).
Be able to start as many adv. as we want. We have plenty of generals.
Didn't see it in what I read, but admittedly didn't read all 75 pages. Sorry if this is already mentioned.
The production queue lists and production queue management need to be improved. The current version is very clunky and limited. Very frustrating and tedious.
Is there a way to move our current information to steam account, since steam is already set up for settlers?
I posted this in suggestions but since you appear to be summarizing requests for basic interface changes in this thread I will post this here as well.
Also, I would add, please consider having a guild bank feature in your new version of the game. If you have access to how World of Warcraft has theirs set up they have an excellent interface including tracking.Quote:
I think it would be a good idea to provide an option for people to block all visitors to their island and allow exceptions. Over the last year I have seen numerous instances when people get all upset because of instances of people buffing their islands without permission.
Personally I would just rather do away with this buffing others totally business because I think all those loading screens helps create the lag with the game but I am doubtful that will happen.
