Will I be able to have open Zeus plus the 3 x EU servers I play at the same time?
While kori has all kind of smart ways to work around the "waiting periode" between flash dies and the unity function works - it really shouldnt be up to the players to find a work around, and i'd like to have it directly from BB how they plan for us to make this periode work, the slim client doesn't work.
Should be able to. I can't say definitively either way, but it should work connecting as it does now. The only thing that's really changing is the interface, not how things change behind the scenes. I doubt they would go through the effort of revamping the entire backend of the system as well. Especially with the time frames given.
Say I don't use the dl version for the "bridge" to unity and just not play for 3 months, till it's up and running on unity. will my account be there when I try to log in?
so now Microsoft announced the next update removes flashplayer. how will the download version work then?
Granted, the downloadable version doesn't currently work at all regardless.Quote:
Microsoft has released an optional Catalog update that removes Adobe Flash from Windows 10 and prevents it from being reinstalled, paving the way for the eventual death of the app in 2021. However, as Bleeping Computer noted, the update (KB4577586) only removes the Flash version bundled into Windows 10, and not any standalone versions you’ve installed yourself. It doesn’t remove Flash from Microsoft Edge or other browsers, either.
That is correct. Using that update will break all Flash support. It is an OPTIONAL download/install at this time. MS has provided the update so that IT ppl can deploy it on test beds to see what breaks and they can fix the issue before MS rolls out the final.
This update will become fully live after January (I'm not sure of the actual date off hand)
As Narasn states, just don't install it. That'll keep it from doing any damage.
Side note: I have been testing another browser with pretty good results overall. The browser is called SlimJet. It's very light weight, small cpu/memory usage. It doesn't lag no where near as much as Chrome, and doesn't freeze up if left minimized or in the background for extended periods of time.
Will it work after MS rolls out the final Flash killer? I don't know. But there are different ways to get around anything MS shoots out.
User Control of Island - Managing risk during the transition to Unity
Soon Flash will no longer be available.
Let's say the worst happens.
The slim or alternate browser works for some, or works with problems.
The port of the game to Unity is delayed.
Users cannot reliably run the game, or can't even log into the game.
This situation might continue for days, weeks, or even months.
How do I manage my island if I can't login for days or weeks, or can only login for a few minutes sporadically?
How can BB reduce resource loss if users can't get into the game?
"Suspend/Resume" button
Suspend: Suspend the game without losing resources
Resume: Resume the game for normal play.
This "Suspend/Resume" button toggles the game between normal play to suspended play.
This button should be available from your login account, not the game.
Minimal case Suspended Play:
Premium and PFB time is extended like they do now with maintenance.
Buildings, buffs, and specialist searches continue.
Resource storage will fill to max and stop.
Problems with Minimal case:
If I can't get into game, Premium and PFB time is lost.
Resources are lost if I can't place buffs, can't do searches, can't star resources, can't gather rewards or collectibles, can't play quests.
Best case Suspended Play:
Time is extended for Premium and PFB.
Specialist searches and building upgrades continue.
If a building is buffed, it runs until buff expires, then sleeps.
Unbuffed buildings sleep.
If storage is maxed, then half the resources are automatically moved to star menu.
Celebrative Lookout, Christmas Tree and Ghost Lantern continue, collect rewards and automatically restart.
Collectibles spawn and are collected automatically.
Pathfinder quests are queued, so you can do them when you can play game reliably.
excellent idea ^^
so we are t-minus... what about 45 days to end of flash.
i have asked dozens of times in various places - here too..
what .. have .. you .. got.. planned.. for mac.. users
i have over 8 years invested in my island. and from what i see you are completely abandoning me in 45 days.
I think BB are installing Virtual Computers, your login is your game name and password combo. We will be able to directly login to their servers through a browser window. Yay!!
It would be nice to know!! Especially with the Christmas Event coming up fast. Lack of a clear answer will just keep gem sales down and many may avoid the christmas event all together if its going to stop Jan 1st on them. Truly hope the answer isnt the slim browser thing as many cant use it or even download it. :(
Ignore answers to direct questions... check.
Pretend to fix things, but not really... check.
Over-complicate something that should have been much simpler... check.
Suggest a plan of action that you know most people can't do... check.
Spend time creating nonsense people didn't ask for instead of working on the problem at hand... check.
Make promises that you know you can't keep... check.
Take money from people for years and in the end leave them with nothing but confusion as to why things didn't work like they should have... check.
Is BB a game developer or part of the USA government?
Conspiracy theories are so much fun ;-)
Not sure if you read all of the posts here or not. But Mac uses won't be negatively affected. Unity runs on almost every single browser out there. Some may require the Unity plugin/extension/addon to fully be functional, but they will run. Unity has been around for quite some time and major game titles use it as a game engine. It is Unreal Engine's direct competitor.
If you are referring to the "transition" browser, I think SirPool who commented after your post is probably the most correct. It will run a lot like Puffin browser does now. The connection that's on your device is just a window into a virtual system on the devs systems. On *that* system is where Flash runs. So basically, the virtual systems that we would connect to would be purposefully outdated software wise to keep legacy software running. In other words, they won't be installing any patches to those systems during the transition to make sure they don't get knocked offline due to a goofed patch.
Hey Ciara_Belle!
You probably saw THIS already :)
