Error with the new client - Something went wrong

I installed the client (on windows 7 64 bit); then after login, with firefox/chrome i click on play

Here i get the following error

I can't see any loading window before.

@develop: Fell free to contact me throught forum, forum message(private), mail, etc......

I am a computer programmer, not a newbie, so i think i can help you to understand the problem faster.....

SUGGESTION
In the next release of the client instead of "Something went wrong" please popup an error number, or the cause of the error

I get the same message. I even tried to do it all again and still the same message. Unlike the above person computers are not my thing so please make simple for me

I did the download and the screen went back to the above screen with the exception that there was no "something went wrong" part. Still can not log in though.

I got this vague error as well when exiting the game. Don't know why. Didn't seem to actually be a problem in my case.

Is the client opening and trying to load the game at least? If thats the message, it could be still working - took me 15 minutes to load the game in the client, while it was mostly "not responding". The initial load could be like that, next time it should be faster.

There is no error number. Mine doesn't have the "Something went wrong" It just says "Your client could not be updated." But other than that same message.

In German forums, they solve it like this (orig thread: https://forum.diesiedleronline.de/th...#post1766241):

1. Download the file from here: https://filehorst.de/download.php?file=dFjnvCfo
2. Put it into folder: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Ubisoft\The Settlers Online\Client

It seems to be supported by mods and community, but if you dont want to download and install strange files, you can always wait for some official solution by BB.

Took 5 tries this am to sign on, received the new client and played for bit.

Trying to sign-on for the past 15 min.

Get to Ubisoft, then nothing, hangs there. Have tried 3 times, always the same.

Am thinking of pressing "download" once again. YIKES!

Logged in twice today. I just got the above error when attempting to log in. tried to refresh, download again, no solution. Looks like a random error\
Continued log-in failure.
You attempt to load a program on Friday, experience problems and fail to fix the issues. Is anyone working on the week-end? does not seem like it.
Then you start an event Monday with major unresolved issues.
A perfect storm to drive customers away.

Not sure if that is relevant to this error, but you might try to turn your anitivirus off, then try to login, and if it works with antivirus off, it means it is blocking your traffic from the client and you will have to manually turn the block off in the antivirus settings. Another option is to try to clear Browser and DNS cache.

The new client blows chunks. Mine goes non-responsive for ten minutes before the game will finally start.

The AppData folder is hidden by default.

Deinstallation

If you deinstall the client, please do this via the Uninstall.exe and not via the installation of the new client.

i get it in the morning .. i have exited the client b4 bed... and closed that window (both methods - logout and just X)... log in in the morning.. and hit play.. and THEN it pops up that error.. but simultaneously its opening the client.. so i wait for the client to get the the welcome screen.. and ok the error. seems to work fine.

you wait your turn - no response means others are ahead of you in the ticket department

Unless you are using a 32bit system, windows 7/8, playing on a mac or linux - there should be a solution in the problem solving threads that will work for you.

edit - I notice you are doing the windows 7 thing. I am betting you are missing files, there are solutions about which files you may need to download in one of these threads.

I have yet to be able to get the download for game play to install. keep getting message that the client file cannot be updated. so can't play our game with tech support to correct this problem

When I get this error, I open the Windows task manager and find that "The Settlers Online" client is still running (although not visible anywhere). I kill the task, and then I can open the game again.

Yes they have the login and the exe split in the task manager - the 'settlers' login will hang around in background processes and I think the error message is occurring when the two are out of sync in a sense - the closing of the client, doesn't close out the website login portion immediately.

Hey all!

Thank you all for the reports.

This issue has been reported to our development team.

In the meantime, you can try this workaround:
- The TSO client must be running.
- Open the Task Manager, the easiest way is to right-click on the taskbar at the bottom, then on Task Manager.
- Look for the TSO client. It is called "Client" or "The Settlers Online" with the settlers-head-icon.
- Now switch to details by:
- Right click on "Client" or "The Settlers Online", on "Switch to Details".
- Or switch to the "Details" tab of the Task_Manager
- Right click on "Client" or "The Settlers Online", click on "Set Priority" and set it to "High".
- Confirm the warning that pops up, and you're done.

Check that your antivirus or firewall is not blocking the client.exe file from downloading. If it is add an exception.
