Well, I can say from experience that sometimes Maintenance occasionally causes unexpected results. I once had a 2-hour server maintenance explode into a 26-hour ordeal that almost crashed the entire server (due to a hard drive failure)! So I'm willing to give em a break. They ARE letting us play for free after all.
Its not the extended maintenance that annoys people it the lets not update anyone part.
A status update would be nice.

as always on Tuesdays, we will perform today at our Wartungstag 09:08:11. All servers are shut down at 9:00 on clock, and is expected to be available again at 14:00.
Update 09:05 clock: The servers will be shut down for maintenance
Update 11:24 clock: Logs deleted, archived backups, scripts anschmeißen
Update 13:00 clock: Soon it starts with our internal testing so we can share the server
Update 13:55 clock: We have had every last Saturday of the world on six roll back because of the server crash that can come to a compensation:
1x Improved Exerzierplan
1x Elixir of Love
5x basket with exotic fruits
This applies only to players who had logged 10:00 to 16:00 on Saturday
Update 14:00 clock: It looks like, should it take us about an hour before the servers are back.
