PRO TIP: The most beneficial thing to do with the gems you get from your quests is to spend it on a Noble Residence Deed.

It will add 30 more to your pop cap, so you wont have to build 3 Residence building, which will free up 2 building licenses. Also the cost of build a Noble Residence is 105 HP and 35 Marble, so you'll get your gems worth.

If anyone says otherwise...don't believe them. :P

Before you sign out for several hours be sure to check how much is left in your mines / wells / fields. If you have the resources it is well worth planting an extra wheat field or well or tear them down and build a new one. Some mines you can destroy and find new ones. It is not a good feeling to log in and see a bunch of red exclamation points on your buildings!

Keep your explorer busy, if not searching new area, then always looking for treasure.

Trade buffs as often as possible! Buffing not only doubles production, but only uses the original amount of resources.

Pro-Tip: CEO is a marathon not a sprint, follow the tutorial and take time to plan out your initial settlement. Paying attention to efficient early resource production leads to easier expansion and settlement upgrading.

Pro-Tip: Before upgrading a building, ensure that you have accounted for the increased resource requirements required from buildings lower in the production chain.

Pro-Tip: Some buildings share a common resources in there production chain. You can reduce the total number of buildings needed to produce a shared resource by alternate the resting and active states of the buildings using the resource in there production chains.

Before you buff, check the production time scale on that unit. Find a unit that is just several seconds away from producing an item, and apply your buff to that one. This way, you get the increase in product within seconds, rather than wasting valuable buff time by applying it in the middle of a product cycle.

Dont spend the gems you get during an early quest, although the tutorial will suggest you spend that and buy but ignore. Those gems can be used later on for a noble residence deed which will house 30 residents in one building saving you 2 upgrades or 2 buildings.

I really haven't seen this stressed, and is one of the biggest complaints I hear.
The soldiers you use come from your idle settler count. It takes 15 minutes for 1 settler to arrive in your town. Plan EARLY to need settlers. Make sure you are not close to your population cap (idle settlers + working settlers is your current population). If your idle to working settlers is low, make another resident so you can increase your population cap. The settlers can only come into your town if you have room, in other words, you haven't met your population cap. When you get enough gems, buy the Noble Residence. That is the only item in the store worth the gems.
Also, residences do not need anything. Place them in areas that you can not use for any other purpose....and well away from storage houses or the Mayor's House.

Actually it frees up 3, since items bought with gems do not require a license to build.

Pro tip: Read up on the game while you build stuff. There's a lot of time where you're just sitting around waiting for buildings to be built, especially early on.

Create two of the same buildings for faster resource. Tear down buildings when resource is depleted.
