The leveling was very fast until level 16, now very slow. I am currantly level 16. Perhaps you guys should lower the price for troops. 5 swords, instead of 10. Something like that. Thanks

After lvl 16 the game becomes extremely slow. First, having to gain Xp through combat when you lose everything after each battle and it takes a day to rebuild your army for a 2nd battle takes way too much time. 2nd, When you have to start the conversion of industry from intermediate to advanced you really hit a wall. Not enough building licences and a serious resources crunch. I am now at lvl 18 and at the pace the game is going now I am really surprised I am still coming back, I am seriously at the limit of my interest in the game.

I second all that has been said so far, especially this post.... I went from playing all day the first two, till level 16-17.. Now that I am 18, I barely want to check in every day for a few mins to que up everything...Cant upgrade any buildings but like once a day, cause of marble.. cant get set up for iron, again cause marble takes too long.. I have four marble masons, one at level 2 and still takes nearly a day to level up one building....The fun and excitement of the first two days has come to a stop and the daily grind has set in... Grind is good if you have something to do while gathering resources and is expected of rts games, but theres nothing to do but leave and play other games till resources for the next battle or next upgrade arrive.. making returning to the game a little harder each level... thanks

currently lvl 18 almost half way to lvl 19

As for leveling speed, i think it gets a bit too slow at lvl 16 due to resource needs of armies and all (late game those resource needs might not be much of a problem).

As for how to fix it, i would suggest either a slight increase to experience gained from killing bandits, giving experience from other activities (maybe from treasure hunts, like 10 to 20 exp per quick hunt or something like that), or reducing the build costs of recruits and bowman (ie fewer bronze swords or bows).

Exactly how I feel right now.. Its ticking me off that after setting up my fir wood and stones production I have to basically do the same thing with marble and hardwood with a handicap of building licenses and more expensive build material costs. Anticipation of building another production line for "Exotic Wood" during the later levels isn't helping much..

At 16 it becomes just a (slow) game of relying on your copper/coke production and making bronze swords. What should be added is a way to get experience from things other than just fighting, building a building of a certain type for the first time, or upgrading a building. Either that or change the combat system so there isn't such a high turnover rate on recruits, and bowmen are made more useful.

Would definitely look to up the speed a couple notches.

I don't mind the slowness after 16+, but it may deter some from continuing on to some of juicy stuff like trading and better units later on.

It seems to me that the leveling is working as the makers intend. I just made it to lvl 18 today(started last thursday, played about 5 days now), so from my perspective it takes about 1 day to get to level 16. about 2 days to get from level 16 to 17. about 3 days to get from 17-18. probably 4-5 days to get from 18-19. all these times can be cut down a bit by great resource management and smart use of buffing (don't buff your fish).

I think things could be made more interesting and a tiny bit more engaging if:
    1) buff times were increased to twice what they are now (same with buffing a friend). it would make it so i didn't log in every half hour....
    2) exploring rewards were actually good. i keep getting 25 stone, or like 5 marble. I realize there are longer times for higher levels, but right now i just get dissapointed every 6 hours.
    3) killing bandits gave better loot. for a while i was getting + 50 bows (which was great at first), but i think for losing 20-30 recruits we need something useful, not 25 gold, or enough bows for 5 guys. I haven't noticed an increase in loot quality for killing more guys, which doesn't seem to make sense to me. 60 scavengers should be holding onto better stuff 20 are.
    4) people on your friends list had a different color text in global chat. people keep asking the same things in global chat, and it gets a little old.

I think people are trying to make this game into a time-sink when it isn't supposed to be. making the leveling easier will just end up eating more time now, and i think people will get tired of the game quicker. once you get into the groove of logging on, fixing any problems with your economy, sending 30 recruits to their deaths, and then leaving for 4+ hours, the sooner they will be happier (i wish i could get into this groove).

Leveling curve is far too steep, the ramp up in leveling time needs to be more gradual. Adding tasks other than 'destroy bandit camps' would be very helpful. I'm level 18.

You really cruise until you hit L16... then it just kind of leaves you to go defeat a whole bunch of bandit camps until you scrape together enough XP to level. It really slows the game down at that point... which is good to some extent, but it would be nice to have another way of earning XP. The problem is mainly that you go from breakneck speed, where every level comes so quick, to a snail's pace as you build up enough of an army to keep taking out bandits. I'd say L17 in particular needs to be lower XP required, that way it's more of a gradual shift from warp speed to the leveling treadmill.

Maybe some kind of daily quest would be nice as well, something level-appropriate to provide X goods for some reason that makes sense in order to add a variety to the XP gain. Something like "The mayor's house has sprung a leak, you need 50 fir wood planks to patch it up" for a low-level / easy quest example. Could be a new building even (or a new option on the mayor's house), something that gives out the daily quest at your choice of difficulties, with the higher ones restricted by level so you can't take ones you can't complete, of course.
