actually in game the guard dogs attacked my general first this morning but then i had no recruits. they should attack the unit type with the lowest max HP first excluding the general. By that rule its the cavalry they should hit first.

There is probably still some bugs in various spots that need to be worked out but since the game is also bugged it makes it harder to fix them atm.

just rechecked in game guard dogs attack general then cav then bow then recruits atm when i am pretty sure general should be the last unit hit.

The general only has 1 hitpoint, doesn't he? That must be the cause of the game bug...

well its odd....only two attacks the general was hit first....next one the general was hit after all other troops were gone instead of first like the first two battles...something is definitely fishy there.

Thank you for this. Just worked like a charm -- on a dogless camp. Really appreciate your work on this!

yeah it seems that you have to have a certain number of troops before the dogs will attack other things first. I suspect the number is enough troops that it takes the dogs more than one round to kill your entire army. I was doing other tests to try and determine how the dogs decide what to attack so i did not really want to win. this probably caused the bug i was seeing.

Has any one else noticed anything that does not seem to be working right with the program?

I have a few small bug fixes I have made (mostly to fix some sorting problems) and I will probably hold off the next release until I can get it to run a simulation of 2 attack waves. The original program would allow for up to three attack waves and I should be able to expand the program a bit to allow for that. Much beyond 3 waves (if even that many) I think would be pretty pointless so I don't plan to expand it beyond 3 waves.

As for source code, have no problem posting it somewhere but the forums don't allow for enough space for that. I just barely fit the the executable in as it is (93.7kb out of 94kb max for a zip file).

It's really not that hard, dogs attack before each round of combat, targeting the unit with the lowest health. This makes taking cavalry and especially bowmen to a dog fight completely awful and they will be targeted first. And, remember whatever units the dogs kill in the first attack (not first round) of combat won't get to attack during the actual round of combat afterwards as they are already dead.
When life gives you lemons? Don't make lemonade! Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your **** lemons! What am I supposed to do with these!
On hiatus from the game currently.

I know that stuff...its just that the dogs will kill the general first if there is not enough other units to absorb all the dogs potential damage. so going with a few recruits and other thing to try nd see what the dogs hit first and wanting to keep loses low, results in dogs killing general first. As for the simulator program, It currently has dogs attacking units in the correct order (cavalry, bowman/long bowman, recruits, militia, and so forth).

This simulator is really going to come in handy if it works. I have just spent over a day thinking that I needed more Cavalry to take over a camp. I was completely wiped out and almost none of the dogs were killed in the Bandit camp. I don't understand it. I can't remember what was the combination that I had or the Bandit camp had but I can hardly come up with any combination where I lose with the simulator. Yet I was wiped out.

I can't try again for about 4 hours but I will try then. The simulator is showing me losing only about 23 cavalry. We will see.
