I am truely impressed. Can't figure out why stuff on the right and left is faster than even the ones front and back...but this is real good stuff!

The time for a settler to walk from any place is 2 seconds + 2 seconds per "tile" they have to walk. 1 tile is basically the distance of one road unit -- you can count the tiles that way and see how far the settler has to walk.

Since the "door" to each building (that a settler enters/exits from) is on the bottom-right, the shortest walk is when the buildings are to the top-right / bottom-left. When they're front and back, they have to walk around the building a little bit and end up walking more tiles.
