A CEO Call to Arms: Dealing with the trolls!

Really, the Guild Chat needs to be fixed so that it is an actual chat feature and not just a way to broadcast a message to one's guild. A link in the menu over a player's name (in the chat) to simply click for ignore would also be great instead of having to do the / command. There are links there for whisper, etc. a one click ignore would be fantastic.

Trolls? I just let them scroll on by, or use ignore. No big deal Centz, you were tired and sleep deprived last night and they succeeded to irritate your last nerve -- such is their way.

As far as idle chit chat, if every player only talked about the game in chat, would be really boring and very little chat going on at all. This is a social game, chat is a part of being social.

First of all I didn't say anything using the " T " word. The person who started the thread did that. Second, there is a great difference between minimize and off. Most of the conversations here of late, are nothing to do with game play or problems, but idle chit chat that could go somewhere else.I don't believe UBI's intent was to start a social chat network. A full time UBI mod is really whats needed.

So, where exactly do you propose the "idle chit chat" go? I mean, there's a chat channel, it going to be used, or are you saying no one should ever talk in game? What exactly is your problem with people chatting with each other? Keep in mind, by the way, that pretty much every in game question is answered almost immediately if anyone knows the answer. If that were not the case, I could agree with you, but since it's not...

Yeah yeah, I was pretty out of it last night, I agree. But I mean come on peoples, don't even try and tell me you can't spot a troll when it pops up. We all know what I meant by it, and if you need any recollection, just think of what Maher resorted to before he was banned from the forums. I would personally like to see those people shunned to the point where they can't really function in game. That's all I was hoping to see.

Considering I never really watch BSG, I wouldn't get that quote, and frankly using it does make it look like you're trying to talk for everyone. As for your supposed "bad subject", I made a thread proposing how to deal with something. And, as to your third... if you can call it point, talking about Chuck is not the same as spewing the same retread jokes. And seriously, are you actually trying insinuate something about my sexuality? Is that really a direction you want to take this?

Because two differing point were brought in this, obviously there will be sides, just as there was in the closed beta thread (which, may I remind you, you flipfloped on). I'm not entirely certain how you possibly think that I'm trying to get everyone in the world to agree with me. As I said, I merely brought up something, and was hoping to get a discussion about it.

frankly, i have been both a troll and people have tried to troll me. the trick to dealing with trolls (get a pen and paper this is important) is to not let them get under your skin... the whole ideology of a troll is to cause discomfort and "pain" to the target person(s) to do that you have to push buttons and get under their skin to the point they get mad or weepy.

if you do not let a troll do such things. their trolls come off as a kindergardener's "my dad can beat up your dad" threats... or your momma jokes.. weak and pathetic.. and as for moderating the chat.. meh thats questionable.. there is the ignore function if someone bothers you enough. im not sure if ubi really has to regulate a person(s) to monitor the chat (least of all right now in beta once launched maybe time will tell how the influx of players will behave)

but i dont see why the community has to worry about "trolls" unless im lead to believe the majority of CEO players get easily offended??

Maybe you should look up the two terms, they are nothing alike and have two completly different meanings. They even have on-line dictionaries that you can use to make it a bit easier.

Once again, another person who seems to have missed my point altogether.

What I hoping hoping to achieve is to not only just for everyone to /ignoreadd anyone like that, but to completely refuse to deal with them whatsoever in the game. That means no trading, no buffing, no nothing.
