I think the trade channel should be brought back, but completely reworked in a way which I will describe below.
From the Dust: Let's polish something old and make it new.
The shiny new channel will now scroll all new trades dynamically upon user creation. It will be placed exactly where it was previously, but now that there is a Trade Office user interface, it will only function as scrolling text for easy new-trade viewing. I'd also like to add another convenience feature to this text.
Trade Links: Better than sausage links?
Clicking on a "Trade" tag will now allow players to open the Trade Office interface to the specific trade or quickly accept trades without opening the interface at all. I believe the best format looks like this example:
[Trade:] 100 Pinewood Logs for 50 Pinewood Planks.
[Trade:] 1000 Exotic Wood Logs for 1000 Exotic Wood Planks.
[Trade:] 100 Brew for 80 Wheat.
Conclusion: Spicing it up.
I think this will be a great way for people to see new trades without constantly updating the Trade Office. This also allows players to avoid ridiculous prices and attain great deals at a glance. A buffer of 25 recent trades should allow for an acceptable history and mitigate players polling the server for trades that have expired or previously been bought.

Just one suggestion:
Remove the one day waiting period for new friends!
I don't really care how you implement it, simple work around or complete removal.

Please fix the history in the trades. Mine says nothing

Add cows to the game, and let us collect milk and make 8 hour buffs ( 12 on friends )
or just give me cows that are usless, as long as i can have a moo moo farm ill be happy.

In the email could we have an except everything button? It would help speed up this tedious part of the game. I love the fact that all accepted trades now bypass the email.

Idea: We have a butcher, and a baker, but no candlestick maker... ; P How about a candlestick maker which makes candle buffs?
Btw, anyone recall the name of that nursery rhyme? I forget....

I decided to create a simple survey with some of your (our) ideas.
Unfortunately it doesn't check cookies and allows to participate more than once, but I assume we all are serious people :P

Suggestion: floating desalinization plants. This would be a building that can be built on water, and would use coal to produce water. The benefit is that (like watermills) users would not need to occupy their land with wells...

Remove the 5 second chat restriction from guild chat, its not needed, just annoying. guilds can police their members if it gets out of hand.
and
Give us a gem item that can be set to auto rebuild wells. ( perhapse farms and mines too ) It can be an engeneer or something, and you can pay it resources in advance to rebuild things for you.
