New version delayed

As you probably have already noticed on the website, the new version of the game will not be rolled out today. There were some circumstances that led to this decision.

The new version was released for Germany on Tuesday and it was supposed to be released today (Thursday) for US, but the version contained 2 huge bugs that only surfaced on Wednesday.

The two bugs:
• Major chat problems – trade via chat not working, no chat available at all and an assortment of ‘minor’ chatbugs.
• Major problems with the user interface, making the game unplayable – for example nothing is clickable, players are being shown as level 1, all their resources and settlers are being shown as 0, and relogging doesn’t help!

We made last minute hotfixes, and planned to roll them out with the new version on Thursday, but according to the feedback received today from the German community, the second bug is not completely fixed yet.

Based on this feedback and due to the critical nature of this bug, a decision was made not to release the version for US because we do not want to let this buggy version spread. We will release the new version as soon as possible, but not before making sure that every existing issue has been solved and that the bugs have been fixed.

I hope you understand and realize that in the long run this solution will be far less frustrating than the alternative.

I think almost all gamers would agree that we would rather have a perfect outstanding product delivered to us in one year, rather than a potentially broken/bugged version in six months.

Great thread, thanks BB_Ravel. I like how you actually took the time to explain the issues and why it couldnt be released rather than just say "it caused unforeseen problems" or some other generic excuse. I'd much rather stick with the old version as opposed to it being unplayable O_o

That's very true! I rather have a well polished game with no errors/bugs. Yet I'm pretty impressed with the way you guys handled the situation. I know its still beta and yet you guys treat the game as if it was already live.

However, one thing i hate is when a game developer shows a sneak peak at a "soon" to be added feature, and doesn't add it for months. (Example: Riot with Magma Chamber).
