    Granite and Exotic logs

Wanted to start this thread for 2 reasons:

    1) I want to advertise that I will buy 50 exotic logs for 25 coin and 50 granite for 35 coin. another option is you can even skip making gold mines and I will pay double that in gold ore. Saves you licenses and resources.

    2) Wanted to open a discussion on value of these 2 items as they have become increasingly available to players and many have no use for either of them... yet. This way players can come here to get more info on them and not be misinformed by others who are self proclaimed trade police.

Both are generally only found from doing medium or longer treasure hunts and are quite random and often hard to come by. I try to only do fair trades within supply and demand of general current levels for players but its so difficult to ascertain fair/unfair when many agree that the value is in the eyes of the beholder, ie something is worth what another is willing to pay for it. Well to toot my own horn(I dont mind at all) I use trade quite frequently and many active high level players come to me for advice on current trade values so I wanted to break down these 2 resources. Primary uses for each are leveling up advanced buildings and making expert buildings.

Exotic Logs - First you need an exotic swamill, level 31 is required along with 9k hardwood planks, 3k marble, and 3.5k tools. Many question the investment of gold cause of resource costs lol(I'll make a thread on that once I finish this). Anyways, I'm sure later on it will be much more common to attain exotic logs but I'm currently level 32 and I'm fortunate if I get 150-200 in a weeks time. Seems like a lot of hassle to make the mill for them based on that. I made a mill for them and invested in it cause I trade for them, I spend real life money on the game(makes certain aspects much easier, such as I personally keep my exotic mill under red flying settler buffs all week long), and I will convert the logs to planks for players as well for a small fee. If everyone wants to hoard their logs instead and make their own mills, more power to them but again I believe you can start acquiring the logs from explorers at level 23 yet they serve no purpose until you hit level 31 and make the mill for them.

Granite - To purchase with gems in shop this is sold at a slighlty higher value than exotic logs which is part of the reason why I offer more coin for it, but also cause you cant even send a geologist to find a deposit until level 52, and even then we dont even have buildings/mines to harvest the granite(might be implemented later on in the game). Again, when many start receiving these items initially they will have no use for them at all, so theres 2 logical choices to be made and that just comes down to personal preference. 1) stockpile it until you can use it or 2) trade it to get the resources you need now or attempt to put a dent in my coin supply :P

Now the next person that tries to heckle me in global can be referred to this thread. My intention is never to rip off, but merely use trade for what its meant for. Hope this helps any that were curious about these 2 resources and I'm always happy to answer questions in game and share what I know as well

Wallstreet - Thanks much for the background on granite and exotic logs. I also appreciate the support you continually provide for other resources with regards to the trade value.

Granite can't be searched for until 52 and I don't think you can get past 50. Even if you could get to 52 there isn't a building to harvest it.

Granite is up there with titanium and saltpeter (I think) on the geologist at L52, which I think is their way of saying "You might be able to find this eventually... but not currently implemented."

Granite seems to be worth more than exotic wood for a few reasons. Most entry-level adventures I've seen give about 1/2 as much granite as exotic wood (e.g. I've seen 600 exotic wood logs from an adventure, but only 300 granite). Then there's the buff factor: keep the exotic mill buffed and you're getting 2x the planks as wood, which pushes raw granite's value over raw exotic wood even higher. Then there's the simple fact that while in the end buildings usually require both, high-end buildings often require coins & granite first, which means granite is used even more. Plus it's ready to go in the form you get it in, while exotic wood has to be processed, and you only go through ~115 per day per level of mill assuming its ideally placed.

Maybe the imbalance will turn back a little bit when folks start making crossbows (which consumes an epic amount of exotic wood) and cannons (which consume a ludicrous amount of it) but at present granite is just so much more useful on a 1:1 basis than exotic wood planks.

One more thing to add, granites value as I stated in the initial post is slightly more than exotic logs in the shop to purchase them with gems, but coins cost even more than granite and also coin is more universal in use. Not only can lower level players utilize gold for buying specialists but also for upgrading buildings, where as granite there really is no use until after most are in the late 20s to early 30s for level. even then, there are not nearly so many uses as there is with coin.

    Great post.
I value granite at slightly more than 1:1 with coins and ew logs at 15-20% lower that 1:1 with coins.
My valuation of ew planks is 1:1 with coins.

I see the trades that are posted valuing granite at 1.5:1 with coins, even twice as much.

Wallstreet, you have people coming to you for price checks and advice because you have a proven track record.

It happens to me for the same reasons.

If it were not for the 900 granite or 700 ew logs the Pirates adventure keeps dropping, I woul not be looking at upgrading my barracks to 5 as I did with my provisions house. (:-( Sound like my own fan club )

This thread is badly in need of updating, prices have changed a lot since september, if its going to get bumped maybe an update is a good idea since the trade values are much different now that so many more people have access to these materials. Anything less than 1g : 1granite is a sweetheart deal.

I"m lvl 28 and have already started saving exotic wood and granite for when I get to expert buildings, is this a good idea or should I sell them for resources I need now? Please help
