There should be a confirmation window with a second step asking "Are you sure you wish to spend XX Gems for this action?"

Why? accidents happen. For example, my 10year old niece tackled me with a hug as I was trying to click on the "Update" button on trade and then... I spent 5 gems I didn't want to spend...

So yes, there should be a confirmation window.
