When guild shopping, ask prospective guilds what benefits they offer to their members.
For example, TC has a weekly lottery night where thousands in gold coin and granite are awarded. [TC] Ron_El (with BB approval) hosts a weekly guild Comic Book Trivia night.

[TC] has a very limited number of slots open. If you are Level 35+ (preferably 40+), are a very experienced player who does not need hand holding, is mature, intelligent, and not into drama or leeching contact any TC officer. Please read the first post in this thread for more information. We are very selective, but if you have the right stuff you will find that you've landed in the one of the best guilds in the game.
