You will arrive the island at the "Arrival" sector as shown on the picture above.
The adventure will be much easier if you move to "Start Here" sector.

The clean order is sector 1, 2 and 3, 4 and 5, then sector 6.
Blue circles means the locations of leader camp.
Yellow circles on the picture means the camps that you cannot skip.
Two white circles are my garrison locations when I deal with the leader camps of section 2 and 6.

This is a terrible guide. The 2 yellow circles in the middle sector (sector 6) can be skipped if you place your general in the correct spot.
One of the camp in the first sector can also be skipped if you take out sector 3 and attack from that bottom side.

I actually really like this guide, it's way clearer than the others. I don't see how you skip any camps in sector 1, since they all overlap the leader camp. The only thing I would mention is that you can attack Sector 6 from Sector 1 and only have to fight 1 camp, instead of two before you get to the leader. Not a big deal though, otherwise a great guide!
