Weak... I guess I can't complain, I must've goofed reading the rules. I was under the impression you guys were looking for haikus, not crap. People of Japanese descent and/or haiku enthusiasts are shaking their heads... How fun though, congrats to the winners.

With words like Empire, its two syllables. You can kinda stretch it out but its not "em-pie-er" its "emp-ire"... If you suggest the word ire is two syllables, you should go back to school, or pay more attention in english class. Its not how you say it slowly when your trying to be all phonetic about it, its how you say it normally aka how the word is actually pronounced. There are laws to syllables, and if you read any syllabic works like Shakespeare, who uses iambic pentameter, you could learn a thing or two.

Congrats to everyone who won! It was a very hard choice, there were so many creative entries!

As for Empire having 3 or 2 syllables, I believe it has two "em - pire" I guess it depends on how you say it. To verify my suspicions I used: http://www.howmanysyllables.com/words/empire.html

Congrats again! Remember, all participants are going to receive Gems. Hopefully we can get those out to you early next week!

I personally loved your haikus. Unfortunately, you missed one of the rules: Only one entry per person!

I'm very sad the forum wouldn't authorize me in time.

We're glad that you want to share some new great Halloween haikus, but please keep in mind that this event is from last year (October 2011). It's already concluded, and so no prizes will be awarded this year.
