Okay,
This might have been mentioned somewhere else, but I seriously cannot find where it's posted. So, here goes my question...
I am a big fan of the Settlers series. I first stumbled upon the online version as Die Siedler Online and promptly signed up for an account even though my knowledge of German isn't that great. Honestly, I had to play the game with Google Translator open. But, I knew that Die Siedler was the German name for the game after I had done some reading online. So, I was excited to see that one day I would be able to Google "The Settlers Online" and get a result, yet that's not the case. Instead the English version of Die Siedler Online is Castle Empire Online. Why is that? I tried to find a Wikipedia page on it, but even the Settlers Series Wikipedia page (English Version) the final installment is only listed as the Settlers 7. Now, considering Settlers 7 was released in March 2010 if anyone is looking for an online version they'll have to look else where since Castle Empire Online is (confusingly) the English version of Die Siedler Online.
It makes no sense, to me, to change your brand name after being around since (according to Wikipedia) 1993, having around eight releases in English of which your last release was March 2010, and the German version of the game is essentially titled "The Settlers Online."
Is it a question of it being a Beta? I mean, from my point of view, no company would want to so significantly impact its market share by changing its name so that long time fans would have a hard time finding their new creations.
Please, tell me why you all changed the name.
Thanks,
A concerned fan
