Second, there is a post it's down for maintenance. You should read everything before posting, the admins do give us quite a few lines of communication.
It is posted that the server is down every Thursday morning from 0400 to 0700 EST(0000 to 0300PST) for maintenance. As for the other mornings I recommend you make a post in the Bug Report section with details on the error when you try to sign in, including any messages you receive.
