I agree with Jethero... No players should be chat mods... it is a clear conflict of intrest... i don't use the ignore function myself... i just ignore what the "trolls" are saying.... it isn't that hard to do.... use those skillz you had as a kid ignoring what the parents say LOL !
But I DO agree that there needs to be regular mods in the game.... if ubisoft wants this to be a "family game"... if not... then Meh don't need them....

I have been in a guild with Roman also so I do have a valid opinion. When he was in the guild with us, he was in there all the time...spent many many hours playing so the fact that he has picked a different spot is not surprising. A week or two ago a fellow guild member and myself (who have not done anything to him at all) got the definite feeling that we were NOT WELCOME in the help channel. He has claimed this as his domain and if he doesn't like you, you should not be there. I feel it's like going to the library...everyone should be welcome as long as they behave. He is not a bad person, wants to be helpful to some people, but has a LOT of growing up to do yet. People come in all personality types and to hold a position like that, you must be able to handle it without ignoring an entire guild, telling people they are evil, (I am supposed to be evil for some reason) or calling them some other names. This is a position for a person with maturity. He has been wanting to be a Moderator for a long time now and it was supposed to happen before all this, somehow it never did...hmmm...wonder why? (and I am not evil)

I too found that to be very insulting RGC and I've never had any problems with you in game whatsoever, but to generalize my entire guild as trolls was extremely rude and inaccurate. I'm sure some rub you the wrong way, but that gives you no right to try encapsulating my whole guild for how you feel towards 3-4 of my members.

Gameforge has one of the best player mod systems I have seen. First they have separate mods for the forum and for the game. Game mods are not allowed to play on that server (all their games have multiple servers pretty much). And both board mods and game mods are overseen by higher level mods who are in turn overseen by admins.
So in terms of mods here, if the question is should a player be given the ability to have ban powers on the server they play on? absolutely no. That would be an impossible situation to preserve any degree of integrity.
Actually Evangelion its not impossible, it is just not common done. It is extremely difficult to find and pick the right kind of people for those responsibilities. I am allowed to mod and play where i am, it is just a different type of gaming site is all.
I do agree with ShuttlePilot, the emphasis should be on if/ when/ how the chat here will, or will not, be moderated.
If and When BB makes those decisions, then worry about who they may or may not decide upon.
