I know that it is obvious, but perhaps we can get UBI started in this direction by them posting rankings for individuals and guilds by total XPs. Should be the easiest to implement, and could be done nightly, and it is a convenient metric.

It shouldn't be hard for them to have nightly listings of the top 10 (or 100 for that matter) of players with the largest amount of mats, that is so-and-so has the most hwp, etc.

This game is loaded up with stats many of which would be useful for comparing yourself to other players. UBI just has to make them available to us. Open up the API and people will be creating their own scripts, little work would be required by UBI if they opened things to the user base.

I would certainly like to know how PvP is going to be implemented and when we might see it. If PvP is not on the cards then why play a game online and in real time. I might as well boot up a disc based game. Adventuring is all well and good but with adventure guides available on the forum they become a known quantity with no element of surprise (or fun). It becomes a circle of doing adventures to level up. But what is the ultimate goal?

I'm another player looking to get clarification on whether combat will be optional, as in some sort of consentual arena based combat between individuals or groups / guilds?

Are there any plans for capture the flag (island) type of PvP where a guild takes an island and then has to defend it against other guilds from taking it.
Defend it for x period of time and you get winners bragging rights and unique in game rewards.

I'm looking forward to seeing how things develop but without PvP and without some sort of goal where losses and gains are real and affect your game then CE will become stale and boring.

I am assuming pvp will start with neutral zones. I think two things would be great for rankings: personal loss/win and guild loss/win for these territories. Perhaps you can start an 'expedition' where up to X guild members can send Y generals with their troops, one time only, no 'shuttling' more in. So in theory you have two matched armies, affected only by troop selection, really. Maybe they could empty their soldiers in a communal guild pool so they can plan more attack choices. You could have total wins and losses for individual players, as well as for the guild depending on the final winner/loser of the zone.

There are many ways to implement a ranking system and with many different purposes.

There's the MMHK-style ranking system where it keeps track of various aspects which get boiled down to 3 categories: power (army size + buildings + controlled area), wealth (produced gold+resources), and honor (xp gained, additionally fighting "better" yields more xp). All players are ranked on these 3 aspects so you can look at where you fall in the game community as well as lookup other players. Additionally each rank has milestones that yield in-game rewards as they happen. I can certainly see something like this being implemented in CEO.

There's the Warcraft/Starcraft-type ranking system where your player rank is determined by how many matches you won minus how much you lost with time decay. This ranking system is (supposedly) used during matchmaking to pit players of equal skill against each other. This ranking system is obviously more geared towards PVP therefore it makes little sense until PVP comes out.

Then there's the Steam achievements-type approach. Sort of a ranking system because it shows you how many people unlocked a particular achievement. CEO can certainly do something like this as well, where there's special in-game goals that earn you the achievement and maybe even some sort of in-game bonus. This would also keep the higher-end players occupied with things to unlock as new game content is added.

But wouldn't this boil down to how many gems people have purchased? Think I've seen an article where the developers have tried to avoid the buy to win scenarios, and in this case it would allow people to simply buy enough gems to get on top of the leaderboard.

lol Requesting a ranking system in a game where your wallet size can affect the outcome, Sounds like someone needs the attention. Ok, take a screen shot, I'll put it up on the refrigerator for a week with a gold star on it. Feel better?

Maybe it would, and why would that be so bad in the first place, if it wasnt for paying players the game wouldnt exist anyways. Be like a reward for them and even bragging rights for some of the players that dont purchase gems and still make the lists. Regardless, most games have some sort of statistics categories and rankings as just an overview or leaderboard. It adds some competition and helps keep many players interest. I dont spend nearly enough personally nor can I be on it nearly as much as many others cause I work so much so I doubt I'd be on any list, and I could care less. what it boiled down to for me making this post was MY OPINION to add more interest on behalf of many higher level players that are starting to lose interest and are highly anticipating pvp. dont care who agrees, but why troll? If you have that much time on your hands just log in and play the game and dont bother posting in the forums with your 2 cent remarks, seriously get a life.

I agree with Wallstreet, some kind of ladder is needed in this game. ALL other games of this type (even the facebook ones) have a ranking system. I don't think we will see PvP any time "soon", so this at least gives some friendly competition.

LOL, I can see some players like to start threads in Forum and don't wanna hear what EVERYONE has to say. If you start a thread, expect to hear even what you don't want to hear. You don't own this forum nor do you have the right to tells others they can't post here. If you don't want anyone who has an opinion of their own posting it, don't start a thread! I'll put my 2 cents in despite if you agree with it or not. Why? Because I'm a player/paying player just as you and I have the right to.

Another player who wants their opinion heard but doesn't want to hear other's opinion. I got an Idea for you....How about YOU get a life!

    Thanks.

P.S. As your sig says: "Never argue with a fool", with that being said no point in replying...I've said what I needed to say, won't be arguing my point with you so you can drag me down to your level!
