    Hotkeys
    b is barracks
    h is mayor house
    p is provision house
arrows keys and wasd slide the map
hotkeys only works if mouse pointer is over the map (not chat window nor avatar picture area neither star menu area)

a buff placed on a friend's building last 1.5 longer so swap buffs rather than applying them to yourself

    IMPORTANT TIMING AND STORAGE

    Store houses and mayor houses:
do not put storeh close one to the others let all spots around them to be buildable, i mean put them in center of clears.

there a travel time to storehs that affects total production time: left and right sides of storeh travel for 6 secs, top, corners and bottom 10 secs. For mayorh times are slightly different due to its size but timing still apply.

    Types of workers:
    manufacturers:
travel to and from storeh visible: smelters, toolmakers, bakeries, mills (flour, fir, hardw),
butchers weapon makers, cooking plants, and breweries
    so group them around.

apparently do not (how they got the materials?): Barracks, branch office, provh.
so put them away from resources spots and away from storage this also apply to houses.

producers: Cutters (and forresters) put them close to dense woods avoid lone trees; Hunters use 1 or two spots for them and keep that spots filled by using provh -deposit tabs: deer smell-; Mines(not way you need build on top),
Masons as close as possible to deposits; Fishers locate fishpools and put them the closest you able,

Level 20 something servival guide for the gemless

Level 20-Something Survival Guide for the Gemless

    A Few General Tips

    · Read up on the game on the forums while you build stuff. There's a lot of time where you're just sitting around waiting for buildings to be built.

    · Save ALL your gems for 10 packs of Building licenses.

    · Keep your explorer busy, if not searching a new area, then always looking for treasure.

    · If you want your city to have a certain look, PLAN AHEAD! Moving buildings gets costly and should be avoided if possible.

    · DO NOT SPEND GOLD COINS IN THE MARKETPLACE! While it is tempting, you will want to save your gold for building upgrades and purchasing a second explorer, geologist and general.

    · most folks tend to move all their buildings between like level 17-22 so don’t worry

    More specific advice -

    Residences

    · Housing should be built as far away from Storehouses as possible. Save the spots close to warehouse for resource buildings.

    · Don't upgrade any residences you don’t have to. You will tear them down and build noble residences which hold 30 when built and can be upgraded to hold 40. They are MUCH more cost effective than building the basic residence. But don’t upgrade these too much either, because you will be tearing these down at higher levels, and replacing with noble deeds bought from gem-sellers! This will save tons of Building licensees in the long term.

    · To effectively maximize space, build buildings close together don't spread them all over the map, but build residences and noble residences in the middle of nowhere FAR away from your storehouses. Residences don’t use the storehouses. ( on that note, neither do the Branch office, Provision House, or Barracks, so don’t have them take up valuable spots next to storehouses or your mayors house which will shorten the time on your producing buildings).

    GOLD, Trade, & Converting

Gold becomes the life blood of your progression so you need to have an understanding of it from this point on.

    · A gold deposit has 300 ore and a level 1 mine takes 12 minutes for base production. That’s only 5 ore an hour or 120 in a day. Keeping that mind, under constant buff it will make that 300 ore into 600. Under constant buff thru smelter/s and coinage/s that will turn into 300 coins. I believe the upgrade to level 2 for a gold mine is 500 tools. Do that and your mine will still last over 24 hours before it runs dry and you need to build a new one. You can start gold production at level 23 and by then you should be able to generate enough hardwood planks, marble, and tools to make a level 2 gold mine every 30 hours easily.

    · Now, the gold smelters and coinage are even more expensive, but these are also permanent buildings! So you won’t have to rebuild them and you can upgrade them as you have the extra resources to do so to conserve licenses and buffs. Within 2 weeks you can easily be making 300 coin a day and not have to use gems in the process. Also note, YOU SHOULD demolish your mines to get a percentage of resources back. I believe its 20% of cost returned when you demolish a building, so if the mine hits 10 or less its worth it to bomb and rebuild another. If your mine is going to run out or the buff on it is going to run out while you are not online for an extended period, turn it off.

    OR

    · Skip making mines all together and trade for gold ore. It’s quite easy to come by in trade and many gem buyers will sell gold ore for raw materials/coins. This will save you licenses from making mines, the cost of materials for them, and needing buffs for them as well. Just build some smelters and coinages and make sure they are buffed or sleeping when they can’t be buffed for an extended time.

    · Keep that Provision House Working. From here you can even convert and upgrade resources – Fir wood to Hard wood, Stone to Marble. Valuable stuff when you have lots of wood and stone to convert to upgraded resources. It is also a good way to prevent your wood and stone (in my case I have tons of wood and stone) from overflowing.

    · Make materials that are high in value and demand, such as iron swords and steel swords. Using lower end materials or raw materials like coal ore, copper ore, wheat, flour, water, etc. isn't going to generate much coin and will eat up licenses. At this point your licenses will fill up quick and you will need to start making coins, so you’re looking for the most coin for the least amount of licenses. I suggest using higher end materials like iron/steel swords or even sausages or horses.

    Bread is life

You need farms, fields, and wells for stables to mass produce cavalry which you will need to complete all the bosses/camps on the starting island. You also need these resources for making bread which becomes increasingly important as you advance in the game to make settler buffs and build your army back up after fighting and taking losses. Finally, you need it for beer to make troops!!

    Gem Sellers

Let’s face it, most of us don’t want to or can’t spend real money or want to wait to amass the vast quantity of gems it requires to buy the cool things from the gem shop. This is where gem sellers come into play. Gem sellers are people that have a lot of gems and are willing to trade you items that you can only get with gems for something of yours, usually coins.

    · Make friends with gem sellers, they will usually give discounts to good customers, plus its always good to know you can trust the gem seller.

    · Buy gifted Noble Residence Deeds. They do not count as licenses.

    · Buy golden Parrots from gem sellers for 100-150 coins which will buff a gold deposit 500 ore = 500 coins when buffed

Note: The gem seller will have to “Gift” you the item, which means that the trade window will not work to make the payment for the item. You will have to pay via trade window, usually you trading the coin for like 1 fir wood. Then the gem seller will gift it to you and you will get it in the mail. There’s a bit of trusting going on so that’s another reason to be friends with whom your deaing.
