    Multi Accounting

Sadly this becomes an issue with any game where its possible to do so, even free ones such as this. I have seen far too many accounts with identical names minus 1 letter or 1 extra number added etc. and altho that doesnt necessarily mean its a multi accounter I think its part of Ubisofts job to uphold thier rules and look further into these similar name accounts. It especially makes me wonder when I see this near identical names posting the exact same trades at the exact same time, now thats a given they are obviously using both accounts to their advantage. Ubisoft can easily check to see also what accounts are trading with each other from the same IP or sending "free" trades consistently to 1 account.

I applaud their efforts thus far to stop multi accounting but the last thing I want to see happen with this game is for it to turn into some 3rd rate game such as the evonys that are already out there and do absolutely nothing about the cash players that bend/break rules as they dont want to hurt their revenue.

I hold Ubisoft to a much higher standard and enforcing fair play I think is imperative. I can speak for my guild Alpha Knights, and part of our rules is you MUST follow the TOS and rules that have been implemented by Blue Byte/Ubisoft teams. I for one have invested as a cash player in this game and if cash players are just going to be allowed to bend rules I want no part and I'd rather just find a new game personally over cheating at a simple game to pass time by multi accounting knowing I could be granted some sort of free pass.

I agree with this. Not only have I seen the typical "NameXX, NameXY, NameXZ" combinations of names, but also the tries from multiaccounters that have different names, but have the same grammar mistakes when they both reply to your emails, or names that post the same trade/value at the same time and consistently approve/deny at the same time. The reason that I have spent a lot of money in this game is because I assume that Ubisoft will do its job in preventing multiaccounting to be doable. If that is not the case, then why bother spending the money and just get more accounts to farm raw materials and get free licenses.

Is doing a /report the best way to help Ubisoft on this matter? Will there be bans published in the forums, such as "we have banned 12 accounts" or something to show people that pay that something is being done and to warn those that are multiaccounting to stop?

I can speak also, for my guild, The Creators [TC] as well. All TC members must read the CEO Code of Conduct, as well as follow all Ubi/BB ToS. Anyone discovered in our guild multi-accounting will be unceremoniously booted and the GM notified immediately.

Excellent post, Wallstreet. Could not agree more.

Absolutely agree with Wallstreet. It is not always easy to find the multis, and it is amazing how many times the excuse of everybody comes to my house to play is used. It is amazing how brothers/parents/sisters/cousins/school chums, all come to one house to play at the same time. Then there are all the boyfriends/girlfriends to play together that never bothered to declare a shared IP. However, I do not think that you will see any ban statistics published openly, as bans are usually handled between the Moderating Team and the offender on a one on one basis. Also on occasion someone innocent does get caught up in a ban, and I am sure Ubisoft/Blue Byte wouldn't want to unnecessarily tarnish a players reputation.

My brother and I play on a declared shared IP and it has worked out just fine. They sent us an e-mail on not to push and it's no problem. However I can see how people would be frustrated about folks who clearly just have one person multi-acccounting.

I appreciate the feedback on here altho I'd really like to see a GM post on here and let us know their thoughts or how they are handling this. I know it was talked about quite a bit in the past and there were many who got banned for it, but what about recently? I'd like to see more feedback from mods on threads such as these that have a huge impact on the players that spend money and help support the game and its rules by following the ToS that we ALL agreed to when we started. Theres a lot of new games coming out and if I have to keep leaving games I love because cash players get free passes with bending rules so be it, I just held Ubisoft to a much higher standard and was fully confident that they wouldn't allow this to happen.

I agree to this but there are many factors which go in to play here... I mean basically if i wanted to i can make ubi think my one computer is in Russia while my other is in the states here. The abillity to change/mask ip and mac addresses in this day and age id rediculasly simple. Now Ubi can crack down all they want but the people who want to play the game and "cheat" by having multi accounts wil do so by other means. Now this isnt UBI fault or any other game companies its a simple fact.

Ive been a GM on several major MMO's going back to UO in 1997, back then a simple ip ban solved 90% of the offenders. Today IP bans are just laughed at I would say 3% of people who get IP ban from a game actualy stay out of that game without finding a easy way around. Now UBI can can counter this by investing in anti hack and identification software, but this is a free game in beta. The licenses to this at this time would bankrupt the project. Even most major MMO companies with 15 dollar a month sub cant afford this proper protection.

Right now the game is in beta I would say wait to see how this is all handle in a "release" state of game. You can jump games all you want but you will NEVER escape these problems. They plague every game in every market at every phaze of development. And if paying costomers jump ship now they will never have the capital to address these problems properly.
