    Buffing Fishers

I have heard that buffing fisher is not good and consume more fish. But I'm against those ideas.

Buffing lvl 1 fisher definitely is not good indeed. U will use 10 fish for 1 plate. Plates make fisher rate double so u'll get 20 fish in 30 mins, which is 10 more fish. Including the walking time to deposit and store house will not give as much fish as used. That's right.

However, on the other hand, think about lvl 2 or more fishers. They produce 20 fish in 30 mins. Buffing with a fish plate will give 40 fish per 30 mins. Including walking time, 40 fish in 35 mins. It gives 20 more fish than normal. Plate consumes 10 fish ofc. So it's obvious here that we get 10 more fish here.

So the idea should be specified like this : "Buffing lvl 1 fisher consumes more fish so not good."
Buffing lvl 2 or more is no doubt effective. Trading buffs will give even more.

    Any suggestions here ?

Yeah I have level 3 fishers and frequently buff them when i'm in need of a fish boost or know I'll be making a bunch of baskets or musk. What you pointed out matters the most though the total production time (including travel) is what will determine if this is viable or not, for most i'm sure it is but I've seen some who place fishers very far away from storehouses.

Bobj u r right but Fishers r also need to be near the deposit. most people place those near fish deposits which is far from store house.

But I don't care about this here. In the Pro Tip collection by BB_(... someone ...), it says do not buff fishers and most people believe that. So I states to specify that to be only for lvl 1 fisher.

A level 3 fisher (placed in a relatively efficient location) will bring in about 40 fish per hour.

Swapping a basket with a friend, will give you 2x production for 9 hrs

If you buff that level 3 fisher, you will receive an additional 40 fish per hour for 9 hrs = 360 additional fish

You can quite easily buy 360 fish for 3-4 coins

Now if you were to sell that basket, you could easily get 6 or 7 coins for it....So "technically" you lost 3-4 coins of potential income.

The chances are, you have a much more productive place to put that buff. Swords/smelters/coinage/hardwood mill/marble mason....they're all going to give you a much better return on investment.

Is buffing a fisher going to produce more fish, sure it will. Is it a good use of a buff....not at all.

logaperc I won't use baskets on a fisher ofc, I know it. But using fish plates on fishers is always effective when u have low fish.
By the time, there r some people who buff water mills. Do u think it is better than buffing fishers?
lvl 3 water mills give the same amount as lvl 3 fisher, both of them can be bought 2 coins per stack.
people sometimes use baskets on water mills, not on fishers. Why? watermills r expensive and fishers r easy to build.
I'll set aside this case. I'm here to argue buffing fishers with fish plates is effective. not baskets.

What type of buff makes no difference. If you wouldn't use a basket on a fisher than you shouldn't use a fish plate on a fisher.

Anyways, just trying to help make sense of why people say you shouldn't buff a fisher....its not that it doesn't help....its that the buff can be put to better use on almost any other building (yes watermills are an extremely inefficient use of buffs as well)

I think he is saying that the "opportunity cost" of buffing lvl 2+ fishers with plates is less than other things if you have the room in the provisions house to make them.

You shouldn't use a basket on a fisher - but fish plates are a good deal to use on a fisher. Thanks for the info galaxyrao. Your right that tip should be amended.

well I accept that buffing other buildings is way better than buffing fisher.
But I post this topic becuz when I visit one of my friend's island(below or at lvl 17), he has 1 fisher upgraded to lvl 2 with the rewarded hwp, marbles.
He has too few buildings for my 25 plates to buff so I buff all including fisher. Then do u know what he say?
"Why u buff my fisher? It is useless."
someone is reading guides and arguing against me. That's why I ask the guide to be changed.
not for the purpose of buffing fishers, but I sometimes buff fishers too

What type of buff does make a huge different. Fish plate only cost you fish while you buff on fisher which give you extra fish ( and the higher fisher will actually give you benefit when you buff them). On the other hand, basket also cost you "bread and sausages" which highly cost material compare to fish so buff using basket won't give you much benefit or even you lost it.

    Let's do some calculation:

A level 3 fisher give you 3 fishes every 3 min ( don't count travel time). When you buff it, you got 6 fishes per 3 minutes, so during buff duration ( 30 minutes ) you got 60 fishes. You got extra 20 fishes ( 30 - 10 for dish). If travel time come in, you still may get extra like 10+ fishes or so... . I personal think it's a good deal and good way to use fish dish as many players won't use dish for anything ( they always prefer sandwich or basket)
